WOYWW 846

 Good morning, crafty friends!

I have to be out and about today so took this picture last night and set the post so I could link up this morning before I forgot.

The tag is part one of my Tag Tuesday. I ran it yesterday on my youtube channel. Will have the finishing in part two next Tuesday.

I used papers from Gilded Autumn (Stampin' Up! 2021)

That's it for my desk (and story) this week. Who's Miss Sarah and why am I here?  When you are done visiting me in the Ozarks, please hop on over to Sarah’sCraft Shed for all the details. Miss Sarah has a long list of other studios you can peek into. No standing on an up-turned milk pail to look in the window. We open the doors wide and welcome you.  Please leave your number and you'll be among the first on my list.

CRAFTY HAUL - Ollie's & Dollar Tree

 Good morning, crafty friends!

No project today, but I did want to share a short haul video.

Have you been seeing the activity around Ollie's bargain outlet stores? Apparently, they've purchased pallets of paper crafting items from both JoAnns and American Crafts closing inventory. Crafters, I am talking pennies on the dollar!

Products do vary from store to store. Where people on the East coast have been pulling in really great product (like a Minc machine for $5!!!!), mine has had mostly paper. You can see my haul in today's video. If you have an Ollie's near you, and you feel the need for more stuff at bargain prices, I recommend checking them out.

Just call me your friendly enabler. ;-)

WOYWW 845

 Good morning, crafty friends!

QUICK NOTE:  The tag I'd hoped to have done today will definitely be tomorrow. The book I needed to review took longer than I'd anticipated, so no crafting yesterday.

I'm sliding in the door late. Got up to a dead battery on my phone.

I have two desks to share this week.

First, my actual crafting desk:

Not overly exciting. The pile on the far left needs to go back to the office desk and those post its get entered into my planner. The awl... guess who used then didn't put back (Bob), the iron I used to press some ribbon and my detail scissors. The white holder in the back is full of little stuff I need to put away. Easy peasy clean up for crafting this afternoon.

Office desk:

I finally got the large work island cleared so I could set it up as my permanent office space (unless I need to cut large pieces of fabric). My computer, external keyboard, a clean mouse pad, the planner holder for my BIG Happy Planners and my mini kanban board for my current To Do projects.
I've been trying for months to get this worktable to this point. I have one small sorting box I need to clear out, find better places to put the keeper items then get rid of it. This will allow me to move the work stuff to the far right of the table. Or, set my mini kanban board to my right. But at least the desk is clean and functional. yay!!!

TAG TUESDAY - Moving to Tomorrow

 Hi crafty friends

I was working furiously in the office yesterday and ran into a snag that took the rest of the afternoon to un tangle.

I'll be creating the tags for the post and will run them tomorrow with the WOYWW post.

DECEMBER DAILY - Trying to finish this one!

 Good morning, friends.

I don't have pictures to show today because they just show better in the video:

I've been working with the Festive Frolic digital kit from Shabbydabbydoodah aka Tina.  She hasn't had the kit in her Etsy shop for awhile but if you message her on Etsy, she might be able to help you out.

I started this journal last year. I managed to get the outside cover done and cut out the tags I wanted to use for the numbers. That's as far as I got on the project.

Part of #ChristmasinJuly was to finish up Christmas project kits I'd started or had stacked on the sofa to do.
As you'll hear in the video, December Daily has been an issue for me in the past because Bob was never home for the entire month of December or sometimes part of the month but not for Christmas. We'd celebrate in January after he got home.

Now that he's retired, I hope to plan December activities we can do together. We like to go out and explore but not a fan of crowds. In Illinois we used to go to Felipe's light festival in East Peoria and spend a Saturday with friends at a White Elephant exchange. I still have a cherished piece Bob got the last one we were able to be there for. We don't have any of those things here but I hope to find us something to do.

I'm going to try to finish this up and have a flip through next Monday. I came close yesterday but ran out of ink for the printer to do the inside covers.

I'll be back tomorrow when I'm starting back in on my 100 Days of Tags. I'll explain why I fell of that cliff in tomorrow's post.

WOYWW 844

 Good morning, crafty friends!

I'm setting this blog post up before I head to bed so I can link up at a decent hour.

Here's the desk:

Pretty bare. The tag was on my blog yesterday and my YouTube channel. I used remnants of my Winter's Veil paper pack to make a tag w/ a pocket.
In the background you can just make out a die and some red 'circles' - to the left of a snowflake punch out. Those will be hole reinforcers for the December Daily album from last year I'm trying to finish up using a digital from Tina at Scrappydabbydoodah.

Not really exciting, eh? LOL
I did promise you a picture of how I cool off in the hot weather -

This is a 6' by 2.5' depth stock tank - yes, for watering horses and cattle. LOL Works great for just the two of us. It's situated in the corner of the house where my office connects. Nice and private. Gets full afternoon sun so heats up pretty quick. I like evening soaks and look at the stars.

On our 25 acres (24 of it is timber bordering the Mark Twain National Forest) we have quite a bit of wildlife. While we know there are turkey's, in the 20 years we've lived here we've never seen more than one or two at a time.

a mama hen and SIX young ones.

This next picture features a couple of deer that come through frequently. If I'm not mistaken the mamma in this picture is one I was treated to seeing minutes after she was born courtesy of a mamma and grandma deer. Both of those have since been added to a hunter's freezer but this baby has grown up to be a mom of her own. The baby is the one lagging behind. From the time this baby was still wearing spots, she's always lagging behind. LOL

Oh yeah, and the guard kitty - Fluffy napping through the whole experience. He is the Ginger MaineCoon/ Ragdoll cat that comes and goes as he pleases. He stays with us for several weeks then wanders off and is gone anywhere from two weeks to a month then he comes back eating like he'd not eaten the whole time he was gone LOL.
We think he was mistreated by a man. He's still shy of Bob sometimes. Took me almost 8 months to get him comfy with me. Over 2 years later and he's still wary of Bob.

#TAGTUESDAY - Winter's Veil

 Good morning.

Coming in a little late. I slept in this morning. After eleven hours on the computer yesterday I really needed the rest.

I decided for our tag this week, I'd pull out the Winter's Veil collection from the wreath project. I'm trying to use up collections as I go and whittle down what I have in the studio.

The back side of the cover was printed with various tags. I lost some of them when I used the image for the cross piece on the wreath.

With that in mind, I decided to use a strip of the trees with 'winter wishes' as a pocket on the front of the tag and incorporate one of the existing tags with the buck.

Normally, I don't hang things off the bottom of the tag but this just seemed to call for it. I want to search for some lace similar but with snowflakes. I had the sparkly ribbon and the metal snowflake charm in my stash.

I think the only thing I have left is to make the pocket letter on Saturday then that should take care of most of what's left, though I may have some pieces to make Christmas cards.

What are you working on?

WOYWW 843

 Good morning, crafty friends!

Sliding in a bit late. Woke up with a bit of a headache so stayed on my pillow longer than I should have.

Sorry I didn't get 'round last week. Seems like end of the month is when everyone turns loose with courses and stuff I need to pay attention to. I'll try to do better this week.

A couple of posts from earlier this week to show you what I made before I show you the desk:

I used the Winter's Veil paper pack from Tonic Studios and a tutorial from Spectrum Art Creations. I didn't buy the embellishment pack so I created the band in the center from the cover of the pad. The snowflakes are die cuts/ punchies from Tim Holtz, Stampin' Up! and Martha Stewart. I can see doing these for multiple holidays. Who, besides me, has a variety of holiday paper pads sitting on their shelf?
If you click on the link below the picture, it will take you to one of my videos explaining how I began.

I've also made a couple of projects from Tim Holtz' Live Class with Heidi from Simon Says Stamp.
Click on the link below the photo to see how this one came together for me.

Now, what you've been waiting for:

I can't believe it's the end of July. time to start planning for August in Q3.

That's it for my desk (and story) this week. Who's Miss Sarah and why am I here?  When you are done visiting me in the Ozarks, please hop on over to Sarah’s Craft Shed for all the details. #CHRISTMASINJULY - #TAGTUESDAY ` #TIMHOLTZ

Good morning, crafty friends!

I'm still waiting on today's video to upload. In the mean time, here's the tag:

I thought I'd be brave and try the tuck tag. We were give a pre-cut tag but also the die to make more - exclusive to the kit! I have his first pocket die but this one allows you to put tucks anywhere on a larger surface. You can either just cut out the slots, or you can use the coordinating frame die to make square ones to place as a layer on your page. Cool, huh? (You can see that die in the video HERE).

I almost did another collage tag. Like Heidi said, they are addictive and you just want to keep making them. These tags have the similar effect. I look forward to trying one for Halloween in my 31 Days of Halloween series.

I'll come back and drop the VIDEO LINK in as soon as the upload finishes so if it's not here when you're reading this post, come back later this afternoon. Hopefully, YouTube will have cooperated by then. It's 9:44 cst. I've had the upload in progress for almost 4 hours! This is one of the reasons my videos are short.

#CHRISTMASINJULY - Winter's Veil Wreath and #DecemberDaily Album

Good morning, crafty friends! Happy Monday.

I'm headed to the pool for a bit before I start my work day but wanted to get this post up.

I finished the Winter's Veil Wreath!

I love how this turned out. I can't wait to make one for Fall, Halloween, and an actual Christmas one. Then there's Valentine's Day, Easter... well you get the idea.

Here's today's video which also shows progress in the December Daily album and I'm asking for input.

WOYWW 842

Good morning, fellow deskers.

I meant to get back in here regular but it was Thursday before I realized Wednesday had come and gone! Maybe it's the heat. I am so tired of Heat Warnings and Heat Advisories. Soooo ready for fall... but maybe not before I get a chance to sit in the tank a few times. Bob got it set up for me yesterday.  I'll try to post a picture next week.

Ribs are almost normal again, meaning I'm able to do more around the house on my own. I think the healed ribs will make getting in and out of the tank much easier, too.

For now, here's my desk:

A bit messier than a couple of weeks ago.
For #tagtuesday yesterday, I did the collage tag from Tim's live class with Heidi from Simon Says Stamp. Quite happy with it. I can't wait to finish organizing my Timmy cabinet to see what else I have to work with. My mind is already going to Halloween.

Did any of you buy the kit or take the class?
Crafting With Jack asked about my Hallmark Christmas banner. I went to Hallmark website and copied pictures from a lot of my favorite Hallmark movies. Then I did a search on Amazon for Hallmark related items and found the cookbook covers.

That's it for my desk (and story) this week. Who's Miss Sarah and why am I here?  When you are done visiting me in the Ozarks, please hop on over to Sarah’s Craft Shed for all the details. #CHRISTMASINJULYA - #TagTuesday with Tim Holtz

 Good afternoon, crafty friends!

Coming in a tad late. I got the video recorded and uploaded this morning then dove in to getting some baking done before the temperatures rose and my AC would have to work overtime. I am so ready for fall!

No picture today but I do have the video for making the Tim Holtz collage tag from his LIVE class with Simon Says Stamp. I hope you enjoy.

Please leave me a comment. There are those who love to collage and others who are baffled by the process. Which camp do you fall in to?

#CHRISTMASINJULY - December Daily Album Progress

 Good morning, crafty friends.

I've been working on this December Daily album for a couple of weeks in my Monday videos.

Here's a look at the cover:

Album from Hobby Lobby LINK

I've been picking up these simple 6 x 8 chip board albums whenever The Paper Studio goes on sale. I don't mind the all brown as I'm covering them for the December Daily Albums. I've been buying the black spine albums from Stampin' Up! for October Daily. You can find those HERE

For the pages, I'm using a kit from Shabbydabbydooda called Festive Frolic. Tina doesn't have this digital in her Etsy shop at the moment but I bet if you visited her SHOP and messaged her, she might be able to add it back in.

Here is a sample of the pages:

There's also an all-over 'angel wing' pattern on the back of each of the graphic digitals. The pages are a bit smaller than I wanted. The album is actually the same size as a Classic Happy Planner but the digitals aren't set up for that size but I'm okay with it. I have plans LOL

Lastly, here are the number tabs. The tabs are from the same kit but I've added tiny puffy stickers from Hobby Lobby Christmas. You'll see in today's video why I chose to use only the candy canes.

That's it for me this morning. Bob has coffee ready. I'll see you tomorrow for Timmy Tag Tuesday!

#CHRISTMASINJULY - Double Post

 Happy Monday, friends!

No pictures today but I do have video links for you to check out. Photos return tomorrow.

I wanted to post Saturday's video on Saturday but was in the final (very long) day of an on-line writer's conference. There just wasn't any time.

For #SACs Saturday, I've been working on a project using the Winter's Veil paper pad from TonicStudio. Beautiful paper pad. While it technically isn't Christmas, it is Winter and one  of the projects I need off of my Sofa.

I got the tutorial from Madi @SpectrumArtCreations. Her video is linked in the description box of the first video.

Links are:

VIDEO 1

VIDEO 2

You'll see Madi's wreath in her video here -->  MADI'S VIDEO

Sorry, no pictures of mine, yet.

Next, is my video that went up this morning.

I found a box on the sofa that I thought was an un-finished journal. Turns out, it IS finished. LOL So you'll see that in the video as well as the December Daily album I started last year.

I've decided to work on getting December pictures off my phone from last year and working backwards on the albums. So the album here will be for December 2024.

Now that Bob is retired, I hope there will be more 'daily' photos of us doing things together.

I'll be back tomorrow to show you a Tim Holtz tag I have yet to create as of this writing. LOL

WOYWW #840

 Hi crafty friends!

I've missed you all. Just been crazy here, with no signs of slowing down.

I had to prep for a writer's conference then attend the conference. re-cracked my ribs the day after I got home, spent two weeks to 'heal' before I had to make a 4-day road trip to Central IL. Now I'm home trying to catch up (and get ahead) of business before another writer's conference this weekend. As for the ribs, I still have to watch how far I bend and don't lift anything heavy.

Horrible picture of a 'clean' desk. Clean because I put everything away after my crafting session Monday and Tuesday.

I know some of you are going to give me the 'eye' but it's all about Christmas In July here in the studio. Ahead of the class with Tim Holtz on Friday I've been spotlighting his products this week. So this isn't photo heavy, I'll link you to yesterday's blog post where I rolled Monday and Tuesday in to one.

I'm also trying to finish projects sitting on my sofa in the studio. This is my Hallmark Movies & Books Garland for my office Christmas Tree. There are over 30 panels. I'll also link the video below the picture.

The first card on the far left is A Heavenly Christmas. The script was written by my friend, Gregg McBride, to honor his mother-in-law who passed from cancer several years ago. He's done a variety of things since then including his latest being a thriller set in New Orleans do out later this year.
I've not only included Hallmark Christmas shows but the classics as well, and for good measure, through my own book cover in there as well as a couple of Christmas cookbook covers.

That's my desk for today. I really have missed everyone. I have a writer's conference this weekend so I'll be round to as many as I can this afternoon then on Sunday or Monday.

#CHRISTMASINJULY - A Pocket & A Tag - Tim Holtz

 Hi crafty friends!

I had things to take care of yesterday before we had to run errands. I didn't get 15 minutes to do this post so here we are today.

Ahead of Tim Holtz' & Simon Says Stamps #ChristmasInJuly class on Friday (July 11) I thought I'd showcase some of his Christmas products this week.

Here's the pocket I made yesterday, using the File Cards:

CHRISTMAS IN JULY - Tag Tuesday

 Good morning, creative friends!

I'm home!!! No traveling until sometime in September when we go pick up the grandgirls for a visit.

I'm kicking off the CHRISTMAS IN JULY series. All this month, the posts will have something to do with a quick tag using a card kit from Stamperia. The kit was 'All Around Christmas' While I don't see the card kit listed on the Spectrum Art Creations website, you will find the papers and die cuts in the collection HERE

Here's the video to the tag for today:

I'm hoping to get back into my WOYWW posts. The girls razz me about starting Christmas so early. It's fun. LOL  Then back on Friday. I just want to spend a couple of days with Bob before I dive in hard!

Have you started your Christmas crafting? Let me know what you're working on.

MAJOR SPEED BUMP! - And Special Announcement!

 Hi friends!

I'm not posting any crafting videos for a few days.

When I came home last week from the writer's retreat/ conference, I managed to re-injure a couple of ribs. I'm doing lots of pillow reclining for the time being.

HOWEVER....

I did want to let you in on this MAJOR ANNOUNCEMENT from Tim Holtz and Simon Says Stamps. If you a Timmy fan and LOVE CHRISTMAS you will want to check out the video below.

I've already ordered my kit. I will have to take the class during the perpetuity replay as I'm in a conference that day and won't have access to replays. But you can bet, I'm going to schedule a day to sit and play with my kit and follow along with Timmy and the gang from Simon Says Stamps! I hope you'll join us!

This is happening July 11th and kits are LIMITED so don't wait to get your hands on a couple of new products as well as an exclusive to this kit/ class!

MIXED MEDIA MONDAY - Junk Journal Junkies

 Hi everyone!

Sorry this is posting late. I leave for a six-day writing retreat/ conference on Wednesday. Bob has company coming down from IA on Wednesday. So I'm trying to position my stuff from the bedroom back to the office so we can get my roll top desk out of the dining room.

Of course, it's like getting new carpet then realizing the furniture doesn't go with it... and the remodel continues.

That's kind of where I'm at today. I can move stuff back in, but I'm cleaning first. Of course, the computer desk is cleaned off but I'm positive I have tons of Asian beetles behind that behemoth piece of furniture, so I need to pull out the drawers, move the dresser, vacuum then put stuff back. LOL It's a thing.

But first, I need a bit of a break.

I'm joining in with Yvonne Preston and ArtyMaze over at Junk Journal Junkies on FB. I joined last month but only got one small tag made. You'll understand why when you watch the video below.

All the information is in the description box including how to join Junk Journal Junkies and access the freebie I'll be working with.

I'll be back tomorrow for a tag video. That's pretty much my best way to get to everyone for the next 10 days.

SPEED BUMP AHEAD

Good morning, crafty friends!

Have you ever started a project only to hit a speed bump, or a complete road block?

That mess you see above is where I store my paints - all types of paints.

However, at the moment they are sitting in boxes & baskets in the studio - in my way.

I had great intentions of doing the project all in one day. I took everything off the shelves and put them into baskets that are now on the floor.

Speed Bump #1 - I couldn't find the extra glass shelves. The shelf unit was initially a stamp display at Michaels when I worked there. When the new corporate (after Mr. Michaels retired) the units weren't needed so they put them up for grabs. One of the teachers secured one for me since I was down here in Missouri working on the house.

After searching and finally asking Bob where they were, he located them for me. Yay!

Speed Bump #2 - the clips for the shelves weren't with them. I kept the clips in a 1 pint egg drop soup container WITH THE SHELVES! Apparently, they didn't get moved with the shelves.

This meant waiting until I could get to Menards to pick up replacement clips.

Speed Bump 3 - TIME! By the time I'd gotten the tools together to redo the shelves, other projects and things had come up and I haven't gotten back to finishing the paint storage.

Bob leaves Thursday for a trip to visit friends in Iowa. While he's gone, I'm off social media completely. I'll be working on the studio during the day and writing in the evening.

I only have a few weeks left to finish the studio before the grand girls arrive the end of July. Crowded in to those weeks are three writing conferences. Eek!

When it rains it pours!

What projects are you putting off - or taking up your time? Share in the comments!

MAKE IT - MAIL IT MONDAY - Sort of

 Happy Monday, crafty friends.

Welcome to a new week.

I know I've been absent but for good reason. Two weeks ago I began preparations to meet up with crafty friends from Dear Julie Julie's junk journal group, including Julie!  I spent a week putting together the goody bags I'd be giving each of the fourteen women in attendance over the course of about nine days.

The following picture looks more like I was trying out for a role in WICKED or The Wizard of Oz when in fact, I spent ten hours Easter Egg dying papers for the goody bags.

The green hung around for a bit but you can just make out the orange on my nails.

Okay... so today is Make It-Mail it Monday but I'm showing something a bit different.

These are boxes of cards I've made in the past. They need to be mailed but before I do that, I'll be spending today sorting them by category and moving to three photo boxes on the paper unit in the filming/ crafting corner. That box in the front left is all Christmas cards as well as a stack in the middle to be put together. Those go in their own box since I only send them in late November for the holiday season.

I'm off to do a bit of house cleaning then start the sorting process.
Do you mail the cards you make? Let me know in the comments if you have a stash that could bring someone a smile.

WOYWW #824

 Good morning, crafty friends.

I need to catch up on my 100 day project. I've been making the tags just not posting. Bob will only be gone another three or four days and I'm trying to make headway in the studio.

First, my desk:

What I'm trying to get done while Bob is gone requires sorting stuff on the dining room table. I'm trying to get all of my bling organized as well as rearranging my fiber drawers to make room for all the Stampin' Up! ribbon I had to keep handy when I was a demonstrator. Since that isn't necessary, I'm working on blending those ribbons in with the other two drawers - making three drawers, actually. That craft box on the far left holds the lace trims I've been carding to but in the smaller box you see on the far left. That will open up a larger third drawer for ribbon. Isn't it always a process?  The papers in front are the printouts for my rough draft challenge coming up in April. I'm hoping to finish the draft of Book 2. I've not worked on the book since last July. Its time has come. I feel ready to finally finish the story and get back into a writing routine.

The boxes in the top left are full of ribbon to be carded as well as rolls of bling. I'm going to leave those on their rolls and give them their own box section.

Here's the flat bling I've been working on. This project is finished as you'll see in the final picture.

Pile of bling ready to be sorted in to categories

Sorted

All filed by category

I'd always had the bling in 5x7 card bags standing up like this but not in any order, which meant flipping through all of them to find what I wanted. I moved them to pockets cut from 4x6 brag books lined with a piece of poster board for stability cut to 3-7/8" by 5-7/8" then make file tabs an inch taller than the pockets and labeled everything. Before I had them in a phot box. This box was originally a sardine tin case box so takes up about one-third less space than the photo box. I'll be able to find the right bling for a project much faster.

DAY 17-20 #DOTHE100DAYPROJECT

 Hey Crafty friends.

Playing a little catch up here. We had tornados blow through our area on Friday night. Bob left Thursday morning so I napped a lot on Thursday. Friday I spent the day prepping for the tornados and catching up on my tags.  I'll be back with MAKE IT MAIL IT Monday next week. In the mean time, here are the last tags of the Winter theme:

Day 17:

Day 18:

Day 19:

Day 20:

I've not chosen the next category yet. I'll pull that tag later today.

WOYWW #823

 Good morning, crafty friends!

Quick post before I take off for a ME day. I try to do them once a week where I walk away from everything and do what I want to just relax. Sometimes I throw in paying a bill because it's practical while I'm out.

Here's my desk as I left it last night:

I had just finished filming a video on Goal Setting for my author channel.

If you've not seen any of my tags (today's will be put in tomorrow's post), they are posted daily on my YouTube channel community tag and on my IG. I'd love to have you follow me on IG.. I am KellysCreativeDreams.

DAY 16 - #DOTHE100DAYCHALLENGE & MAKE IT MAIL IT

Happy Monday, everyone!

Instead of using a Card Chicks card kit this morning, I went with a card kit I had clipped together and just laying on the shelf. I'm not sure where the image is from but I used a Cherry Cobbler card base then added Shimmering Crystal Effects for dew drops and a bit of shimmer.

Day 16. Wow! I've never made the 100 day project past day 3. LOL There is hope.

Today's tag is another team effort. I love that he helps.

DAY 15 - #DOTHE100DAYPROJECT

 Good afternoon, crafty friends.

Lazy Sunday. We were gone all day yesterday shopping, getting our taxes done and eating at our favorite buffet, Sirloin Stockade.

In return, Bob helped me plan out the tag for today. He blindly pulled a sketch from the file then helped figure out the papers from the collection I'd chosen. He really does have a good eye.

DAY 13 & 14 #DOTHE100PROJECT

 Good morning, crafty friends!

I got so caught up in a project yesterday that took  much longer than I anticipated and I'm still not done. Does that happen to you?

So here is Day 13:

The papers are more black/ gray than they show in the picture. Even the tree. So I added a pop of color with the word snow from a strip of ribbon that had some light blue. I brought the blue in with the snowflake (which shows up better in person) and in the bling.

DAY 14:

I took a liberty with this tag by adding a scalloped mat behind the main image. I thought this add a bit more dimension as well as a bit of femininity. The trees were fussy cut from the same paper line.
