TEAPOT TUESDAY - Blue's for Judy

Hello stamping friends!

Today, I dropped in at Just Add Ink to see what the challenge was. Sketch Challenge! I love sketch challenge and this is one I'd never used before. For me, getting the angles were tricky. Probably, because I'm such a 'uniform' person. But the whole point of a challenge is to step out of our comfort zone, so here we go. First, the sketch:

I chose blues because blue is Jennifer's mom's favorite color.

Here's what you'll need to CAS this card:

Stamp Set - Floral Essence

Punch - Leaf Punch

Cardstock - Pacific Point, Seaside Spray, Whisper White

Embossing Folder - Stylish Scroll 

      NOTE: This folder is retired. I did not catch that in time. 

                   You could use Swirls and Curls as a suitable background

Inks -Pool Party, Pacific Point

Stampin' Blends-  Seaside Spray (Dk/ Light) and Soft Suede (Lt)

Embellishments - Clear Faceted Gems

Adhesives - Multi-Purpose Liquid Glue, Stampin' Dimensionals.

First off, I was inspired to use the embossing folder by THIS card from JAI Design Team member, Nikki Spencer. I hope you'll allow me to inspire you and pay it forward by creating your own design and sharing with others. 

Cut the piece of Whisper White at 5-1/4" x 4"

Run through the embossing folder.

Use Pacific Point to create your cardbase (5-1/2" x 4-1/4"). Cut a second piece 3-1/2"x 4". Use the photo of my card, or the sketch to guide you in cutting the angle. I cut up from the bottom right corner approx. 1-1/2" at an angle. Then came  back and cut up 2" from the bottom left. 

Repeat the process with the piece of Seaside spray cut 3-1/2" x 4". Cut up 1" from the bottom right and 3/4" from the bottom left.

Stamp your sentiment in the bottom right corner of the Seaside Spray piece in Pacific Point. 

Layering:

     Glue the embossed piece to your card front, followed by the Pacific Point and Seaside Spray, lining them up at the bottom edge of the card.

Stamp the largest flower from the stamp set twice using Pacific Point by stamping one full strength then as a 'ghost' or secondary stamp. Use Soft Suede to stamp the center in the darker of the two flowers. Color both images in with the Seaside Spray Stampin' Blends by going over the lines with the darker marker then filling in with the light shade. 

Color the Faceted Gem with the Stampin' Blends Soft Suede then add to the center of the darker flower. I use a bit of Multi-Purpose glue behind the gem to adhere to the flower even though they are adhesive backed. Just a little extra stability for our mail service.

Attach the darker flower to the lighter one with a Stampin' Dimensional, off-setting the top flower just slightly from the bottom. This adds extra depth and shading to your image.

Add the flower to your card front.

Stamp 2 leaves on whisper white using Pool Party. Punch out and tuck under your flower with a bit of glue.

Your card is finished and ready to share!

TEAPOT TUESDAY - You're the Sweetest!

Can you imagine a 12 year old (or any age) saving their money and using the funds to pay of overdue lunch accounts? Well, that's what Arman did at his Orlando FL elementary school. We teapotters couldn't be more proud of this young man. He will do great things!

I pulled out a set I'd not used yet (are you seeing a pattern here?). Tasty Trucks seemed like the perfect set to deliver sweet wishes to this young man.

I used dsp from Sweet Shop (SU Occasions 2012), a strip of Pool Party for the base. The truck is colored in using Stampin' Blends. The cupcakes are topped with the smallest red enamel dots from the Santa's Workshop Enamels (SU holiday 2018) for cherries. Three Glitter Enamel Dots add a bit of pop.

Inside, I've stamped 'your the sweetest' and added 4 more cupcakes (sans cherries)

By the time you read this, Arman should already being enjoying a flood of cards.

FRIDAY FREEBIE - Unclaimed and Undecided

I had promised pics of the RAK box for Ruby but did not get them up last Friday so am bumping the post.


As of today the winner still has not responded to winning the box of Valentine goodies. I am going to set it aside for a later date.

In the mean time I've already figured out what the Friday Freebie will be in April but still stuck on March. Yes, I know I skipped February. Bit crazy here with taking the Organization Class and the day job. But I am looking ahead to March - which will post next Friday!

In the mean time, I've been purging A LOT of paper/ CS. I've sent a huge box (18 pounds!) off to the Kindness Club in MN and am now working on a box for a lady in GA

There is a gallon bag each of CS and DP - I emptied 2 drawers!

Misc Ribbon, 3 ink pads, a pkg of markers, Tombo Adhesive and 3-pk refill, bling and a qt bag of stamped images.

This plastic container contained punched butterflies /w bling boddies, stamped/ punched sentiments and a variety of flowers. After I got the box packed, this would not fit in the box so I repacked these items in jewelry zippy bags.

Ruby Taylor had a couple of minor strokes last fall. While she was in the hospital her granddaughter PITCHED ALL of her paper craftings upplies - EVERYTHING! Not so much as a pair of scissors left for Ruby to use. Can you imagine? Here's the full post about the RAK event many of us on SplitcoastStampers are taking part in:  RUBY

TEAPOT TUESDAY - Apples for the Teacher

I'm really glad the storms backed off so I could post today's Teapot Tuesday Challenge. I had so much fun with this card, thanks to the wonderful Storytime DP from Stampin' Up. Must order more!

Our cards this week go to not just one person but to an entire class. They are called the Evansville Kindness Club, headed up by 1st grade teacher, Mrs. Barb Bratvold in Evansville MN. Here's a snippet about how the project began:

The Kindness Club started in 1995 in Evansville (pop. 612) when Barb’s fourth-grade students decided to make get-well cards for a retired schoolteacher who became ill shortly after visiting their class as a guest speaker. Her subsequent thank-you letter prompted smiles and thoughtful reflection from the children.

Eighteen years and 316 students later, Barb now teaches first grade and is shepherding the school’s first-graders as the newest ambassadors of the Evansville Kindness Club. Inducted as lifetime members on the first day of school last fall, each student was presented a certificate bearing the Golden Rule: “Do unto others as you would have them do unto you.”

We were to bring apples for the teacher so I flipped through the pockets of my sticker album until I found some teachers stickers I've had FOREVER. You just never know when something will come in handy hehe.

My collection included several apple-themed stickers.

I did a 5-1/8 square card to fit an odd envelope using SU- Real Red for my base. The mat 'big chief' paper is from SU- Story time as is the ABC image. A strip of Real Red edge-punched with the MS Lace punch became my 'lace' to anchor the apple stickers on. And of course, Mrs. Bratvold and her class deserve an A+ for their dedication.

Aside from this card, we were invited to share any of our 'extra' supplies with the class to help them in continuing their project. I believe my box of goodies will go into the mail early next week.
