So here’s my desk for this week:

I did not get the travel journal finished to take with me. The chipboard pages are covered and the binding edges all trimmed in washi tape. You can see the page templates made from file folders. I got the designs from a Heidi Swapp journal. There was a great variety to use as a jumping off point for designing my own for future albums. The stamps with letters/ numbers are visible to the right and my paper selection on the left.

The drive down was a nightmare. I chose to try the interstate (which I hate to use) because I thought it would be faster. Such a bad decision. The northeast corner of Arkansas enroute to the interstate was not a pleasant drive for a variety of reasons. Add construction on the interstate from Conway to Texarkana and I was so mentally exhausted at the end of the drive. At one point I only went 4 miles in 45 min!

The Texas Music Awards was a great experience. I made some good business contacts. Was nice to meet artists face to face I've only been networking with and promoting on-line the past three years.

The drive home using only a state highway taking me through the Boston Mountains was much more pleasant. I stopped in Eureka Springs Arkansas for lunch and would like to have stayed the night just because I LOVE that town. I swear Eureka Springs is like the town of Eureka in the movie channel. Just a a different air to breathe - and so relaxing. Maybe it's just me but when I cross the city limit line I feel as if I've come home. If you ever want a truly relaxing vacation I recommend Eureka Springs Arkansas. The Crescent Hotel is the place to stay if you want ghostly experiences. Otherwise, the only place I stay when I'm in town is the Best Western Inn of the Ozarks. There are two Best Western's in ES so make sure you look for Inn of the Ozarks.

So here’s my desk for this week:

I FINALLY made time to start putting the Texas travel journal together. I leave Friday LOL Since taking this picture last night I've covered the front and back as well as the inside covers of the chip board journal with sections of Texas from the old road atlas. Later today I'll cover the inside pages, make some flip-out pages and add the embellishments.

Beneath the chipboard album you'll see the calendar pages for the Documented Life Project journals. I also got those seamed together with washi tape this morning. The headbands in the upper left corner will be used as elastic closures for the journals. 

Tons to do today. I'll try to do some visiting tonight or tomorrow.

Okay - not really. But I see yummies to play with. 

I spent the weekend at my SILs in OK. Yesterday, without thinking, I put away all of the supplies I had taken with me.  So my desk doesn't look any different than last week. LOL 

Hoping for playtime this weekend. Want to get my Texas Travel Journal made since I leave a week from today.. aka no time to clean up so should be nicely cluttered for next week ;-)

So here’s my desk for this week:

I've managed to keep the desk pretty clean this week. Aside from doing a project I'll show you tomorrow, the only other thing I've worked on is gathering the supplies for The Documented Life Project.

The original project uses a Moleskine Weekly Planner (softcover). Well I'm a daily kind of girl so instead of one, I'll be doing them by quarter - 1 composition book per quarter. I'm using the Monthly Dayplanner pages from the Dollar store for my calendar Tip-Out pages. I'll show you more on Monday. In the mean time, I'll be shopping for Washi Tape. I need more for this project than what I have - which since I cleaned the studio I can not find LOL

In the mean time, here's a bit more about The Documented Life Project.

So here’s my desk for this week:

GASP! There is a work surface under there! Who knew? Well, I did but finding it was another issue. There are still a few little things I need to do something with on this surface. The tiered boxes to the left are for my new venture into Project Life. I'm thinking of adding a couple of the matching drawer units underneath them as a base for storing punchies and ephemera. I started with 2 primarily so I'd have one for each of the granddaughters. But I'm thinking I might also want 'big girl' items for my Documented Life Journal and this would be a good place for those things. I guess if $General has another one tomorrow then I'm suppose to have one ;-)

The important thing is I have room to play again and I can't wait to get painted up!

WOYWW #245 - A different creative area

So here’s my desk for this week:

In this picture you'll see the important things: laptop, music magazine (I blog for), my coffee and external speakers to better hear music cds for review.

This is not in my studio but where I do other creating besides playing with paper.
For several weeks I've been on the hunt for a 1950s style vanity or desk. Something small, solid with lots of drawer space that I could use as a desk.

I've resigned myself to the fact we will not be building a studio and getting me out of the basement. Since the majority of my day is spent in the 'office' side of the studio I made lots of trips up and down the stairs multi-tasking... aka juggling business with housework. My knees can not take the abuse any more. I'm hoping if I don't continue to beat them up maybe they won't force me into surgery down the road.

This little desk fits off to the side of the double-doorway between the kitchen and the laundry room, the two places I spend most of my non-working time. Though my research books and office supplies are still downstairs, I have the immediate needs to do the music promotion and article writing close at hand.

The Get Organized Challenge is still in progress. We are on Week 4 - Photos. This is where I've fallen off the wagon in the past. Next week I hope to be back in the studio.

WOYWW #243 - I have a desk!

So here’s my desk for this week:
Relatively clean. I at least have space to work but I'm not doing any creating while I work through Tiffany Spaulding's Get Organized Challenge. A couple of things to point out... The stack of paper to the left is all 'stamp off' paper. A small portion of what I have. I just can not throw anything into the landfill (or the shredder for the garden) until I've used it as many times as possible. Sad, isn't it.

The manilla envelopes to the back right are those Teapot Tuesday cards I made the first week of the year. The square ones with the dog in the wheel barrow? They are square and they have bumpies so I put them in padded envies. The postal service wants over $6 a piece to mail them to Canada. So I need to rethink that card and save these for someone in the US.

Finally, the sectioned box in front with the markers. Those are those mysterious markers that arrived in my mail last fall. (I finally figured out where they came from- thanks Brandy!) Because they need to be stored horizontal they can not stay in that box so I'm still working on an 'upcycle' item solution. However, I did get an idea from Heidi Bound at Gotham City Stampers about putting all of her Project Life items in one of these. I'm going to Dollar General tomorrow to pick up the long one - or maybe a second one of these as I like the sectioned sizes. I wasn't sure I was a Project Life kind of scrapbooker but have since determined they would be perfect albums for my granddaughters now living so far away.  Oh, and the pink hippo stuck in there will be a pattern for a TPT card I needed last week. I really need a hippo stamp or image but I can make this work.

So here’s my desk for this week: 

I have space! Not much and I'm not planning on playing before the weekend. My main goal is to get the studio back in working order. As you'll see from the previous post, I did get my ink tray finished. YAY!

But the space where the ink tray is now is where I use to keep my marker/ pencils/ etc. So now I have to figure out the best place to relocate those. The package of Letter stickers are from a project I made for work. I keep me from playing favorites as to which music artists I feature on my music blog every week, I created a deck of 26 alphabet cards. Each week I draw 5 letters then use random.org to select 5 names from a long list of artists under each letter to feature on The Party List. Otherwise I'd be going back to my favorites all the time and missing out on showcasing some really great talent in Texas.  The rest is all bits and pieces I'll either be finding a place for or pitching. I've done a lot of pitching the past couple of weeks.
