WOYWW #617 - Multiple desks and a video

 Good  morning, crafty friends!

Starting my first full work-day without Bob.

Last week I mentioned we were getting a new sofa. Here is a picture with two of my models:

When we had the two recliners, we had Honey's kennel between them. Since we've moved it to the end of the sofa he has to be almost shoved into it. We don't know if it's because the heat register is there or what. We've since put a board on that far side hoping to give him a more secure feeling. We may have to move the kennel entirely. He's only in it at night and during the day in the winter if we need to be gone for a long shopping trip and is too cold for him to be in his outside run. Trial and error for sure. He loves the sofa - we all do... but the placement of the kennel - not at all.

First off, here is my desk from the hotel:

I had a very productive 4 days. They gave me a suite so I had lots of room to spread out. What you do not see are the sofa and hassocks behind me where my notebooks/ writing planner are spread out or the bed with the gazillion index/ scene cards in order of appearance in the story. I got a lot done, have the story in my head and am ready for Camp Nano to begin tomorrow.

Then there's my desk for this morning:

Cards I need to add notes to then pop into envelopes and get them ready for the mail. The Paper Pumpkin kit is the one I need to break down today and film the video for. Bob left yesterday morning and about an hour after he left I pinched a nerve in my hip. Spent the entire day on the new sofa with all three fur-babies. So, today is make-up day for sure.

As to the card parts I had on my desk last week... if you want to see how they turned out, there's a short 8 min. video below.

That's it for my desk (and story) this week. Who's Miss Julia and why am I here?  When you are done visiting me in the Ozarks, please hop on over to Stamping Ground  for all the details. Miss Julia has a long list of other studios you can peek into. No standing on an up-turned milk pail to look in the window. We open the doors wide and welcome you.  Please leave your number and you'll be among the first on my list.

I'm off to be busy.  Since I will be at the hotel this weekend, I'll have time to check in with everyone. I'm looking forward to the inspiration I always get from my crafty friends!

WOYWW #616

 Good morning crafty friends!

This is a busy day in the Henkins household. I'm trying to put some stuff away in the office so I can bring my sewing cabinet back in. After that we'll need to get the living room cleared out and the recliners moved out to the warehouse to make room for our new sofa!  I'm so ready for a comfortable piece of furniture.

I also have a paper pad to break down and turn in to  something(s) for my Smash That Paper Pad Collab video that is due tomorrow morning. You'll see from the photo that I've paired up my paperes,, their coordinating cardstock colors and card sketches.

Finally, I'll need to finish packing. I leave tomorrow to hide in a hotel for a four-day private writing retreat to see if I can finally get a handle on Book 2. Camp Nano begins on April 1st (no fooling!) and my plan is to compelete the first draft within that month.

CARD CHICKS - March

Good morning, crafty friends!

It's just past the 21st of the month, that means CARD CHICKS!!!!

I love seeing what the girls put in their card kits. I'm up for April and have no clue what I'm sending next week. LOL But I know where to look. Wish me luck!

Roxie aka morgainegeiser sent a fabulous kit with bunnies. One of the images - Thoughtful Bunny - reminds Bob and I so much of a photo of Adrian on our fridge from when she was about 4 years old. I turned the two images Roxie sent into Easter cards for the girls.

The images are from Inky Antics - Carrot Bunny Clear Stamp Set includes both images & sentiments.

Bunny Hugs for Abby

I should be back tomorrow for What's On Your Work Desk Wednesday. Until then...

COLOR CHALLENGE - Butterflies are Free

 Good morning, crafty friends!

We are back for the weekly color challenge at Splitcoast Stampers. Anyone and Everyone can play along!

Here's the color combo for this week:

Night of Navy, Purple Posey, Coastal Cabana

For Dessert, we could add Designer Series Paper, so I pulled out my DSP binder in search of a Stampin' Up! DSP collection that featured at least a majority of these colors.

I found Botanical Butterfly from the 2019 Sale A Bration line and came up with this card:

While I'm not really a black & white person when it comes to paper, I really loved the black polka dot and thought the simplicity paired well with the busy back ground. I layered the sentiment mat on the dot paper then onto a strip of Purple Posey. To bring in a bit more of the Coastal Cabana I fussy cut out a couple of the butterflies. The DSP is layered on a Night of Navy cardbase. The sentiment is from Ornate Thanks

I'll be back tomorrow for What's On Your Workdesk Wednesday then the rest of the week gets crazy. Of course, Bob is home, so my plans change from moment to moment.

WOYWW #614

 Good morning, crafty friends!

Before I forget again, Angela (craftingwithjack) I replied to your comment from last Wednesday if you haven't seen it)

It's that time of the week again. Today is double indemnity for me. I get to show you my current 'desk' then begin the flight of the bumblebee to make the house presentable before Bob gets home this afternoon.

I didn't accomplish anything I wanted last week. I finished the book edits for June late Wednesday. I followed that up the rest of the week with a tummy bug. By then I was in the throws of projects with deadlines. Now it's time for Bob to be home for three weeks and not a lot will get accomplished except what must be done...and so goes my circle.

I worked on my Christmas cards for the #10onthe10th collab last night while watching Madi on SpectrumArt live. (she was altering playing cards with distress oxides/ stamps/ stencils/ crayons)

These Christmas cards were from the October 2019 Paper Pumpkin kit - Winter woods. Here's the video link . You can check out my YouTube channel to see the 3/10/21 video.

The cards are just to the left by the keyboard. straight to the back of them, you'll see the kit box with an unmade card that I can put together on video this morning. To the right, you can just see the corner of the instruction sheet plus my workday essentials. What looks like a plastic drinking cup is actually a snack cup from nutter butters. I've spray painted three of these to match my office so that I have a small place on my workspace for small trash items like the paper backs from dimensionals, bits of string/ ribbon/ etc that get clipped away when I'm working.

COLOR CHALLENGE 3-9-21

 Good morning, everyone!

This week's color challenge at Splitcoast Stampers was to use, Cinnamon Cider, Soft Seafoam and Mossy Meadow. For dessert, add some pink.

I chose Jar of Flowers from Stampin' Up! as well as the coordinating punch

Here's the card I came up with on the fly:

I punched the jar from Basic White cardstock and watercolored in with soft sea foam. The colors are done with Flirty Flamingo.

I'll be back tomorrow with What's On Your Workdesk Wednesday. I can warn you... with a full schedule today, not a lot of progress will be made :-)

MIXED MEDIA MONDAY - Coffee & Avocados

Good afternoon, everyone!

I've been a bit busy today. I started dying papers - first avocado then coffee - at 4:30 this morning. I pulled the last tray out of the oven at 3 p.m.

The stack in the top left isn't part of the process... those are book pages I'll be using for another challenge on Youtube.

The paper dying started as a result of the video below. I saw the hashtag #cwplanner and zoomed in like a bird on prey LOL.

I didn't get her pre-printed planner but I did go to her ETSY shop and purchased the downloads. Looking at them, I knew I wanted to do them on coffee-dyed papers. So there you have my project today.

I've also posted my Creativity Planner recap for February. Here's the video for that one if you are interested in my progress:

I will be back tomorrow with a Color Challenge card. Those posts will run in the afternoon as they do not post the challenge until Tuesday mornings.

WOYWW # 613

Good morning, crafty friends!

I know I've missed a couple of weeks. Bob was home four weeks last trip. If I don't feel I have the time to visit folks, I don't post.  I can say that I'm not sure if my office is better or worse. Maybe a bit of both.

Here's my desk for this week:

This is my filming table. LOL Yeah.. so not going to happen right now.
My ever-present fan, stamps and items left from the February 6x6 challenge, lots of various ink pads, the Christmas ornament in progress from the February Reindeer Club video, a library card stamp, my Stampin' Up! clear block case (I had it open to use a block late last night), my utility bag (lazy susan style that barely has room to spin clearly) and a clip lamp.

I just got in a new rolling cart yesterday. I have one that I was putting adhesives/ stamp cleaner type items on the top rack and my most used punches on the bottom. I'm pulling everything off the top rack, moving most used punches to that space ( holiday punches will move from the end of the big work table to the second rack) Then the new cart will be all about the stuff I use frequently when filming with all the adhesives going on the top shelf.

Hopefully, I can work on that project later this week.

I'm back to working on Book 2 in my series as well as doing a 'quick' turn around on a friend's manuscript that is long over-due to her publisher. The fun part is I get the first read of a new book before everyone else :-D

With that, I'm off to get started. Beautiful day in the Ozarks so the last of the Christmas comes down. The bathroom is all snowmen so I leave that up until I take down the Christmas in the kitchen/ laundry room - which is gingerbread and HEARTS... so they always stay up until after Valentine's Day. Trouble with that time-line is I have to wait for warm weather to make treks out to the warehouse to pack stuff away.  Today with upper 60s* F is that day.

COLOR CHALLENGE

 Good afternoon, everyone!

I am way behind on a lot of things. With Bob being home tmost of the month of February, I've spent the past week trying to catch up.  I wanted to do the February Find It Finish It Junk Journal Challenge and try to find the office as well as get blog posts up. Most of Sunday was spent working on my author blog... which I'll explain in a bit.

I finished the February challenge on time but had an issue with the spine. I'm in the process of uploading that video now.

In the mean time, I went over to Splitcoast Stampers with the intention of doing a Teapot Tuesday when I spotted a Color Challenge, which also runs on Tuesdays. I've never played before so thought I'd give it a go.

We were to use Just Jade, Daffodil Delight, Balmy Blue and Melon Mambo as well as any neutrals and were allowed to substitute a close match if there was a color we didn't have.

Just Jade is one of the new In-Colors in the current catalog. The other three are standard colors.

Here is the card I made:

I used a Daffodil Delight base as well as a narrow strip behind the sentiment. The sentiment is from Happy Birthday to You and the image is Ornate Style.

Blog posts will be hit and miss or at least fewer for the next several weeks.
I have gone back to writing every day so that I can publish two books this year. Book 2 in my series is LOONNNGGG overdue and Book 3 should have come out last fall. While I love crafting, writing is my important job. With Bob wanting to retire in two years I really need to get my behind in gear and start building a readership.

I'll be back tomorrow for Whats On Your Workdesk Wednesday.
