Good morning, everyone!

No time to play for a few more weeks. Too many things to do with the grandgirls.   This is my post for Stamping Ground this week.

I did want to take a moment and thank Angela aka Felix the Crafty Cat for her ATCs and little extras:

Sandra knows I've long admired her paintings and am blessed to have received this beautiful rose.

I also have an ATC from CARO but that seems to have vanished off the dining room table. As soon as I unearth it amongst the girls crafting supplies I'll show it off!

TEAPOT TUESDAY - Tickle

Our Teapot Tickle for this month was to include a lighthouse as a 'Light of Hope'. This is an InkaDinkaDo set. The 'Hello' is from a 2016 Paper Pumpkin set.  I used Stampin' Up! Marina Mist and ghost stamped part of the sea gulls in flight.

The inspiration for this card was the ATC I made for a swap several years ago. I adhered a pocket in the top half of the card to include one of them. I used the note section of the card to create a beach scene using other stamps from the Inka set as well as blasting sand for the base.

This set is a perfect example of my restraint in purchasing Stampin' UP!. I love the set we have in the Occasions 2017 catalog with the lighthouse (High Tide pg 25) but this set does everything I need, though I do like the sentiments in the SU set. 

If anyone is interested in swapping ATCs, I do have a few of these left. I always make my ATCs in sets of 20. I keep #1 then the rest are up for grabs.

MIXED MEDIA MONDAY - Altered Rolodex

I first saw these on Pinterest (I know, surprise, right? LOL)  So I started adding them to my ATC BOARD  The concept is basically the same, just a different vehicle.

The first thing that came to mind was I had a Rolodex that Bob bought at the thrift store then decided not to use. Well, after I moved it to various points in my office a gazillion times, I gave it to my sister who'd been wanting a rolodex for work.

Side note- when she took it to work, none of her co-workers knew what a rolodex was. Ahhh, the generation gap rears it's head again.

Okay, back to topic.  Rolodex has taken on an all new persona thanks to the ever-creative Heidi Swapp. She calls it the Memory Dex. You can read about it HERE. I think, initially she planned for the MemoryDex to be a office version of Project Life. But we all know, everyone sees a product differently. Someone in the artist community thought ATC or short pieces of art that could be easily displayed. And they've taken off from there. They've become mini art journals. Incidentally, when I did a google search for Rolodex art or mixed media, CraftyPaws came up more frequently. Shade Tree Art has some great examples,, too.

While we were in Springfield a couple of weeks ago, I found a brand knew Rolodex, still in the box for less than $5.

The box came with about 15 cards behind each letter of the alphabet. I'm thinking of using the Alphabet Challenge at Splitcoast Stampers as a jumping off point and create each card to correspond with the letter. I've been away from the board for awhile so I'll need some catch-up time there. So for this week, I'm starting with the letter R and my word for the year, which is RESET. Here's my first MemoryDex journaling card:

I'm hitting the reset button on various aspects of my life this year. One is to take more time for me and the other is to make more time for Creativity and my Spiritual practice. I have become a serious workaholic.

WOYWW #260 - Happy 5th Anniversary!

Wow! 5 years of visiting work spaces all over the world. Amazing! Though I've not been here the full 5 years, I've never felt like a stranger. That's the 'neighborly' feeling our hostess, Julia Dunnit hopes we all experience as we go from 'house to house'. Everyone is welcome. So my desk this week...

This is my office desk between the laundry room and kitchen. I spend my weekdays here working on music stuff while I multi-task throughout the house.

My morning would not be complete without my Spirit kitty. He turned 7 on Good Friday. He is a 5th generation panther so I thought this an appropriate time to share him with y'all.

Where in the World...

That was the title theme for this month's swap at the InkSpot ( www.inkspotofnatalie.com/ )

Even though most of us are from IL, BirchTree is a tiny little town in the Ozarks that unless you are from this area, you probably don't even know it exists. So, welcome to Birch Tree MO!

With the help of my local chamber of commerce, I took state maps and cut out the area I needed. I wanted to use clear embossed glue dots to highlight the town but of course I was out and no place in the area had them. I improvised with the red pen and used a red arrow to point to my house. The cone flower is the state flower. I picked the stamp up on my trip to IL last week. I used LePlume markers and spritzed them for a water-color effect. For a final touch (though not really visible), I used the slick tape transfer to add the title to the card.

I enjoyed making this one. Next month is One Day Of Creation. Hmmm... gonna have to think on that one.
