September Stamp of the Month

After seeing a Christmas card made during a card summit a couple of weeks ago using a similar style of stamp set, I knew I could use this one. Daniel West of Colorado Craft Company did a beautiful Christmas card. Here's the link to the demo Daniel did. 

I was inspired by this card:

I started with this:

I chose papers from Stampin' Up! Gilded Autumn ( Holiday 2019-2020), Early Espresso card stock, Early Espresso and Pumpkin Pie inks plus ribbon from my stash

The card base and mats are Early Espresso.

Card Base - 4-1/4" x 5-1/2"

From pattern paper - 4" x 5-1/4"

From Early Espresso - 2-9/16" x 4-7/8"

Stamp the image twice on pieces of white or cream cardstock measuring 3" x 5-1/2" - once in Early Espresso and once in Pumpkin Pie

I recommend using a stamp positioner such as a Stamparatus (Stampin' Up!) or a Misti.

Trim the image stamped in Early Espresso close to the words all the way around so that it will just fit inside the Early Espresso Mat. 

Trim the focus words stamped in Orange out close to their letters. 

Adhere over their matching words with dimensionals.

Cut two pieces of your ribbon at 2" each. Fold each one in half and stick with glue dots to hold. Then use another glue dot or double-sided tape to adhere to the back of your sentiment mat. 

Cut a piece of the brown ribbon 3" long. adhere ends to the back of the mat. Take another length approximately 3" and tie around the first piece and taper the ends (as shown in photo) 

Adhere Dimensionals to the back and place over their matching word (stamped in Early Espresso)

TEAPOT TUESDAY - Watching Over You

This card went in the mail to a sweet lady and her husband in AZ. Sandy broke both of her feet. Her dear husband, Dave, has taken a leave of absence to care for her. What a sweetie.

I haven't used this stamp set before but when the critieria called for horses and that they were artistic people, I knew this was the set I wanted.  It's called Country-Born from the Seasons & Nature collection by Close To My Heart during their 30 Years celebration.  The stamp set has since been retired.

For the artistic aspect I attempted some sponging. Daubers are not the way to go for larger areas. I used Pool Party and So Saffron for the sky. Then I punched out a scallop circle and went inside of that with more So Saffron and Daffodil Delight. The ground is sponged with Garden Green. I stamped the horses and the tree in Early Espresso then went back over the grass and foliage area with Garden Green. This was all done on Whisper White then mounted on a Mossy Meadow card base.

FRIDAY FREE-FOR-ALL

On Wednesday, my first ever Close To My Heart order arrived. This is what greeted me when I opened the box.

My CTMH rep is my buddy, Brenda (see DisneyGirl )  on my sidebar under PBR. I swear if we were the same age we could claim separation at birth! So this post is all Brenda's fault. She is such an enabler!

I moved the stamps out of the way to see the bottom two items. Though this picture does not show the item well, you can see the bat and cat. Those are stencil charms. I ordered these to use them as stencils. They are perfect size for ATCs or the APC Challenge I'm working on.

This collection is Christmas Assortment. They go with a paper collection. I have plenty of papers so thought these would be perfect accents for a mini album

But my main order consisted of these:

Since September was National Scrapbook Month and this is CTMH 30th anniversary, they offered a special set of stamps. But you had to order a minimum of $30 in stamps to get the FREE set. I picked out sets I knew I would get a lot of use out of just so I could get this:

These are perfect size for Project Life. I also have a punch set from Stampin Up that coordinates with some of thee. Cool, eh?

And if you've never ordered from Close To My Heart... I am in LOVE with their packaging!

The envelopes are square plastic with snap closure! Oh my. These are going to be so easy to store! They are about the size of a 6x6 pad. 

You can bet I'll be playing with some of these new toys in the coming weeks. Right now I'm afraid to see what their October special is. hehe

Magazine Monday

With the cooler temperatures the past week, it's been easy to get into a FALL frame of mind. It feels like fall so much I'm in 'fall cleaning' mode around here. Not good when I have so many projects I want to get done. Like this card inspired by Jacki Jones.  I'd love to find a blog or website for Jacki. The only thing my search brought up was a profile of her on Hero Arts.  Her card - Natural Gift WRap Khad White - was featured in the May/June 2007 issue of rubberstamper (Yes, I'm about through showcasing artists in this issue lol)
She repeatedly stamped the Skeleton Leaves onto the gift wrap with CTMH's Autumn Terracotta, SU's Close to Cocoa, Ranger's Adirondack Earthtone Raisin, Tsukineko's Versam Magic Mango Madness and Brilliance Galaxy Gold. Wow! You gotta love a gal not afraid to mix her brands! She cut out 2 leaves, where

I only did one and tucked them behind 5/8" brown grosgrain ribbon.  My card is pretty much the same as Jacki's but I added the little tag attached to the ribbon with a gold jump ring. I used SU Dusty Durango, Pear Pizzaz as my paper layers. The leaves are stamped in SU Cajun Craze, Close to Cocoa, Really Rust, and Apricot Appeal. The ribbon is SU Pear Pizzaz seam binding.

Magazine Monday!

Happy Monday, everyone!

My in-laws left this morning after a weeklong visit that included a short road trip to meet up with our daughter and her family. The gathering brought four generations together for an overnight stay in Paducah, providing lots of time for just visiting and letting ‘Grandma Great’ and Grandpa Dick spend sometime with two little ones they don’t get to see as much as they do the other grand and great grand kids. This was the first time they got to see Abby (born last Oct.) and meet our daughter’s fiancée. It was a good time, but I’m happy to be back to work.

Today’s Magazine Monday card comes from the 2007 issue of Rubber Stamps. Anna Justice created a graduation card using CTMH and The Stamping Studio products. She revisited the technique of stamping an all-over image on solid cardstock to create our own DP. She used Congratulations in various fonts to make a graduation card.

My pic didn't turn out very good today. I had to shoot it inside because the wind is blowing like crazy! I think one of my next projects is a photo box. For now, let's see how this card came to be.

I seem to be in the Halloween spirit these days. LOL I think I’m just ready for fall. I chose SU Elegant Eggplant and Pumpkin Pie. I stamped the moon/ stars image from the SU Halloween backgrounds set all over the Pumpkin Pie in Elegant Eggplant. I was afraid the image wouldn’t stand out well if I did the tone on tone so I stamped the witch and ‘wicked’ with LePlume Black on the Elegant Eggplant background. Rather than stamp the entire Best Witches image, I inked the ‘witches’ part (not inking the ‘best’) of the stamp and ‘centered’ it on the mat then stamped the witch below it.

The ribbon is a newbie I picked up at Hobby Lobby last weekend. It’s not a ‘stiff’ ribbon, but it’s isn’t light weight flimsy either. It was easy to run the Tombo across and would have fed into the Xyron very easily. I raided my Halloween embellishment tub for fibers and the embellishment drawer for buttons and brads.
