Exciting, eh? This is one of about 20+ boxes I have on hand from the carpet squares we bought for the office. They measure about 18.5" square and maybe 2" deep. Now that they are empty and the carpet is in place, I could not bear to part with this really good cardboard. Not when I finally have a spot to actually work on mixed media, art journals, etc. So I put two of the boxes aside. One to hold full 18" square pieces and one to hold the top portion of the box. (see the top has a hole cut in the upper corner)
So why am I showing you cardboard? Because this is what is on my desk and every week near 100 bloggers join in the snoop of each others workspaces courtesy of Miss Julia at StampingGround. You are welcome to join us! I'm sure what you have on your desk is way more exciting than mine!
So here is what one of the boxes looks like in progress....
I am trimming all of the excess away, retaining the 2 larger pieces. The boxes I'm storing them in will stand on end in the mixed media area of the art studio. Keeping these larger pieces is having me take a look at the variety of pieces I have downstairs that will probably get taken to recycling.
I should have something with a bit more color next week.
Creative Blessings!
What a clever idea and completely with you on not throwing them away! Looking forward to finding out what you make with them.

I can't throw boxes away, I either trim them up and store them or keep them for packaging. Have a great woyww and happy crafting, Angela x 28
ReplyDeleteI can't save everything! I try! LOL Kudos to you Kelly! And more if you end up using them. I just remembered it was WOYWW and posted my Blog at 9:00 P.M.! :)
ReplyDeleteI keep boxes too. It always reminds me of a hoarder episode where the lady said - 'don't throw away those boxes - those are good boxes. lol April #50
ReplyDeleteexcellent recycling.
ReplyDeleteGreat stuff Kelly! Like you I love recycling, and if that had been me I'd have saved the lot! It looks great quality cardboard and I can't wait to see what you use it for. There's so much satisfaction in using things that most people would throw away!
ReplyDeleteThank you for your lovely and encouraging comment! My half-way treatment yesterday went as well as could be expected, and I ended up feeling really poorly for the rest of the day, but apart from raging peripheral neuropathy and some nausea (for which I am dosing myself) today I haven't been too bad. Last time I had a good weekend and then crashed for the rest of the week so I'm living from day to day and hoping for the best!! Thank you for your good wishes and kind words.

The basic process is the same but she colours it differently. Have fun!
Yes, my hubby's paints are a great blessing! He gets given things when people know he paints but it's not always exactly what he uses! I am always a happy recipient of anything going begging.
Happy belated WOYWW,

It's great to be able to repurpose things we get that most people would toss in the trash or recylce bin. I know that you're loving your new space. Can't wait to see it all.
ReplyDeleteGlad to know it's not just me that hoards cardboard. I was gutted when they stopped putting the dishwasher tablets in boxes! Can't wait to see the finished projects.
ReplyDeleteI'm quite the fan of boards and good pieces of cardboard but I have learned to say no over the years. I'm not a mixed media artist though. That would change things if I were. Those are a great find and I'm sure you'll put them to good use. Thanks for the visit to my desk! Judy #51
ReplyDeleteHappy WOYWW, Kelly!
ReplyDeleteOh I would be sooo tempted to keep that cardboard as well, but recently, I've been trying to cut down on my keeping stuff to use later since I already have so much and haven't gotten to use them yet! Maybe when I my son gets married next year and I can transform his room into a craft room I will have more space for goodies like that!
Hugs, peggy aplSEEDS@3
I never throw cardboard away. I have a stash of it in my closet. LOL!!
