Happy WOYWW, and welcome to Miss Julia's World Wide Travel. Here's my desk this week. I have items laid out from the January Paper Pumpkin kit (Stampin' Up) to make treat bags for my daughter and son-in-law this morning before their box goes in the mail.
The next row back are remnants from yesterday's project as well as the Valentine activity books and self-inflating balloons for my granddaughters. Behind that is my latest organization idea.
I do not have paper keepers for the 6x6 pads like I do for the 8.5x11 and 12x12. So when I'm working from the smaller pad, all the small pieces wind up scattered all over my table in my way. This also makes it easy for pieces I've just die cut to get lost among the mess. While at my favorite thrift store in the city last week, I came across these file folder holders - brand new! and an idea hit.
I cut down manilla file folders to 6x6 and have started using my tab file die to cut the edges. Now when I can keep the full sheets as well as the trimmings up out of my way but easily accessible when I need them. When I'm done, the file folder will easily transfer to the box where I keep my 6x6 pads.
Who's Miss Julia and why am I here? That's my desk? What's on yours? When you are done visiting me in the Ozarks, please hop on over to Stamping Ground where Miss Julia has a long list of other studios you can peek into. No standing on an up-turned milk pail to look in the window. We open the doors wide and welcome you. Please leave your number and you'll be among the first on my list.
Creative Blessings!
Kelly

Hi again, Kelly. Thanks for the visit. The squares are knitted. When a group from our church first visited Uganda, to the mission we support, they reported back, and a small group in England asked what they could do to help. Can you knit squares, they were asked. Unfortunately, no-one said what size the squares should be. However, I'm nearly at the end now of the 17 bin bags full of all shapes and sizes!!! They were literally a life saver for the particular people who knitted them, so they are put together with a thankfulness that these dear folk now have something to think of and live for.
ReplyDeleteTake care. God bless.

Your file holder is a really good idea. I might see if I can find the space (!) to make my own. I don't make cards often but do buy packs of papers when they turn up cheap in the nearest Range store. They are so pretty, it is hard to walk on. Now I have half a chance of knowing where all the pieces are! Thanks for the share and have a great week - EmbroidRage #8 x
ReplyDeleteAh Kelly, I love your thinking, that file keeper is a great idea, I love 6x6 but it becomes small quite quickly! BEt the treat bags will go down a, well, treat!

Now that's just a clever idea using the storage system to keep the scraps out of the way and off the desk! Bet you find that a handy system! I think I'd quite like self inflating balloons too, hope your GD does as well :-D

It's a good idea to keep your trimmings organized like that! I just dump them in a box never to see them again, until I accidentally bump into them. Thanks for visiting earlier! Enjoy your week! zsuzsa #30
ReplyDeleteAnother great organizing tip. I love this idean Kelly. It's really hard to keep up with all those little scraps. Hugs, Maggie
ReplyDeleteBrilliant idea, I know must of us struggle with paper storage (especialyy the 'bits') so this is a great idea.
