Good afternoon, crafy friends!

I woke up this morning feeling really tired. I went back to bed instead of posting.

I did four ore tags for the Fabrika Decoru journal using the 'quilting' method. They resemble a patchwork crazy quilt. I was only going to make two but four or more works better with this technique. I learned this from DearJulieJulie several years ago. She usually has four or more tags in a challenge so this is perfect.

Welcome to still not having the best lighting for filming/ photos. I tried to chance the lighting a bit.

I used four different papers and/ or sides for the tags, cut into four pieces. Click on the video below to see the process. I'll be back tomorrow with WOYWW and pockets/ tucks for this journal in progress.

HALLOWEEN JOURNAL - Cover

 Good morning, crafty friends!

I'm keeping up with the pieces to Madi's various challenges in our Spectrum Art Creations Friends, FB group.

Last week, I talked about my plans for the Halloween Journal using Graphic 45 Bootiful Wishes and Midnight Tales. I'm really loving how this journal is turing out. 

So far I've done the front/ back covers, including decorating the front cover. I also cut out the letters spelling Halloween to go on each of the 9 pages. I used the Tim Holtz Vault Coffin dies for the letters.

What a week of celebration we had. I didn't get 'round to everyone but it was great seeing familiar faces at the party.

FUTURE PROJECTS SHOWCASE!

 Good afternoon!

Bob took me to brunch this morning so I'm late coming in. I should have typed this up yesterday. However, I am right on time. As I opened the window, the time was 1:11 AND I saw that I have 1,111 posts. 

I study numerology and the 111 stands for - New Beginnings:  It signals a fresh start, a new cycle, or an open door in your life path. That's what this post is all about. New challenges for the month.

I'm needing to get back into Spectrum Art Creations challenges to try and win gift certificates. Social Security puts a crimp in my spending. 

If you'll go to my video from Saturday you'll see a flip-through of the Fabrika Decoru kit I'll be working with as well as the G45 papers I bought.

I want to get all the videos/ blog posts set up in the next two weeks, then I can start on the 31 Days of Halloween for October. I have decided those are all going to be Index Cards so if you want to play along next month, collect your October themed items (Halloween/ Gratitude/ Fall) and a stack of index cards in a size of your choice. Those will begin October 1.

All videos will be short so I can upload within my bandwidth restrictions.

WOYWW 900 - Happy Anniversary!!!

 We made it!!!! 

When you think about it, Week 1000 isn't that far away.

I was introduced to the group by the late ShazSilverWolf. We connected on Splitcoast Stampers and she suggested I come play. At the time, my craft/ writing space was in a 10x10 ft. space in our basement. Bob said I needed out of the dungeon. I think he was planning for his man cave.  My first WOYWW was week #196. As you'll see from my '00' post, I was still new to the group.

It's Wednesday! That means we get to spend the day cruising blogs all over the world to see what everyone's been up to this week. We call it WOYWW. To see what all the FUN is about, check out our fearless leader's, Julia, blog at Stamping Ground for all the deets.

I am the opposite of Julia. I HAVE to have a clean space to work. When I'm in project mode, I'm usually good about putting my stuff away when I'm done. One time while attending a Make & Take at a local stamping store the visiting company rep said she needed me to travel with her just to clean up. Yep, I hung around after the M&T to clear the table in prep for the next round LOL  So that explains my desk today.

You can see the book box coming along. I've cut the center out of the pages away. That took about two hours on Sunday while enjoying my traditional Easter viewing of The Easter Parade with Fred Estair and Judy Garland. I've put the first step of the cover (front and back) in place. I need to glue the edges down then put in the inside mats. The card in the middle is one in progress for next week's Teapot Tuesday. I have an in on this one because I've nominated our next recipient. You'll be able to see it next Tuesday. The other card was this week's Teapot Tuesday card. You can see it in the previous post.

I won't get much more crafting done this week. I head out on Sat. or Sun. for a 9-day writing retreat. If I leave Sat. I can catch the final 4 or 5 hours of the CK Convention in Collinsville IL. Not sure I want to spend an extra hotel night to have to rush through convention. I'm still in decision mode on that one.

Hubby comes home tonight so I have lots to get done before he rolls in. But I'll have time to cruise blogs over the next several days. So show me what you've been up to!

CREATIVE MONDAY - SACs Challenges

 Good morning!

Slow moving this morning but I did want to show you what I've been working on.

I've jumped back into the Spectrum Art Creations challenges in the Spectrum Art Creations Friends FB group. I love the products Madi gets in and the challenges she comes up with.

She started August with a new monthly challenge based on a prompt. At the beginning of the month she pulls a 'prompt stick' then we can interpret the prompt however we want. This month was Fairies.

I knew instantly I wanted to do a display of some sort then the project morphed from there.

I started with four things: a 4x6 easel board from $Tree, a Spectrum Art Creations original design postcard, Flower Fairy Diary stickers from Spectrum Art Creations, and a fairy light string that came in a Diverse Romance Writers conference swag box in July. The string has three settings - solid, slow bling and flashy blink. 

I positioned one small fairy nimph in the Y of the tree and an onery little girl fairy on the ground, looking up at him. Then I positioned the lights on the back of the postcard so some highlighted the jars, the pearl strings and behind the girl fairy. I anchored everything with strategically-placed spots of hot glue. 

I used glue dots double-layered around the edge and a couple in the darker spots of the postcard then placed on the easel.

the height of the legs on the easel bothered m so I had Bob cut them off level with the bottom of the flat part of the easel. Looked okay, but I felt the picture needed more so back to shopping for a round piece of wood, the grass, mushrooms, and pinecones. The wood base is actually a sign from $Tree that I flipped over so I had the flat back. Layered everything with the grass and embellishments for the forest floor leaving an opening in the center. I wanted to be able to pick up the easel and fold it flat for storage.

Oh.. I also had silk leaves in fall colors from $ Tree. I used a couple of small leaf dies from a Stampin' Up! set called Gorgeous Leaves and die cut them from the silk leaves to create a scattering/ pile of fall leaves. 

I'm really happy how this turned out.

The other challenge I took part in for August was SHAKERS.  We were to purchase our choice of shaker bits and incorporate them in anything of our choosing. I ordered three different sets of the shakers and used one of the sets in this card:

I used the Marianne's Designs ROMANCE shakables. I knew the pink hearts in the collection were perfect for a Pink Ribbon card and also matched the Polished Pink cardstock from Stampin' Up! The die cut is from the Support Ribbon from Stampin' Up! and a sentiment from my stash.

The deadine for August challenges is today and I have a couple more shaker cards planned. You'll see them in future posts.

I won't be doing a Tag Tuesday post tomorrow as I'll be finishing up the challenges, though there could be a showing of what I make today.

WOYWW 899

 Good morning, crafty friends!

We are almost there. With this much excitement can you imagine when we hit 1000!!!

I don't have desks to show this week because nothing has changed. Before I can do anything else in the filming corner we need to address a leak in the ridge-line of the roof that has recently begun dripping into the office, directly over my stamp/ die boxes!!!  Bob got the stuff last night he thinks will fix the issue. I hope so.

But I did promise to show someone (Sylvia? MaryAnne?) how I store my stamps and dies.

I have over 600+ sets and keeping the wood mounted on wood wasn't an option. I broke everything down and they now store flat in photo boxes:

THIS VIDEO shows how I do the dies. The stamps are stored the same way except I've put them on 5 x 7 sheets cut from the flexible cutting board mats from $Tree.  

They are all filed by category in shoe boxes with the dies behind any coordinating stamp set. Then misc. dies stored by category in a single shoe box. 

Be warned, this was not a 'weekend' project. I could have done it in a week had I not run out of supplies. Then it took me forever to get back to finishing.  Now a couple of those boxes are damaged from the waster leak and will have to be redone, but the stamps/ dies are safe in their plastic sleeves.

Note: In the video you'll see the dies packets stored vertically, they now store horizontally, not allowing water to get in, thank goodness... just in the box itself.

TAG TUESDAY - Patriotic Tags From Packaging

 Good morning!

I've spent the last several minutes trying to get logged in. Every time I tried, google brought up my author account or my homesteading... even when showing this account. I'm so over tech issues! 

I wasn't sure I'd have a video or post this morning. I've spent time over the past few days filing all of my digital print outs on to Scrap Rack spinders and eliminating one more tote bag off the office floor. While working, I started planning this week's tag. I knew I wanted to use the packaging from the bunting decor I bought several years ago. I used four packages for these tags.

I won't explain here. Today is Bob and I's 42nd wedding anniversary. I got up early to record the video. He's waiting patiently for me to go nap then we can play an all-day game of Double Triominoes.

 Good morning, crafty friends!

We are just two weeks away from 900. I'm sooo excited! I've already pulled my first WOYWW post and scheduled it so I don't forget.

I've posted a video about using other glue's besides mod podge for that napkin technique. Thanks to our Angela for leaving the question on the video last week.  You'll find that video HERE.

After testing fabric with mod podge yesterday I decided I need 3 more 'pockets' for the journal. I'm doing everything in fours for the Patriotic journal. I have the cardstock drying. I'll get the fabric ironed into place this afternoon.

The photo piece in the upper left is part of a fairy challenge I'm working on for Spectrum Art Creations FB group. Still needs a little fussing.

While I don't need the ironing platform as a filming station, I am keeping the filming table cleared until I can get a new piece of wall board for that space. For now, the filming table looks like this:

Only thing there right now is the silicone brush I used to spread glue. This afternoon I plan to take the desk down, move the 4 art carts and give this space a good vacuum while I wait to go after the wall board.

 Good morning, crafty friends!

Last Wednesday just came and went. LOL

I have 2 workspaces this week. First, my usual filming table:

Pretty empty due to a bit of clearing. I had to move my camera holder over to the ironing mat for last week's video so I thought this was a good opportunity to give a good cleaning. I photographed the tags for yesterday's blog post and a video so I've not moved anything. The tag on the far left was last week's #tagtuesday then the one on the dark mat was this week's tag/ pocket from napkin-covered cardstock. Now that the Pink Christmas album is finished, I hope to get that stuff all put away then finish the Patriotic journal in the next couple of weeks. After that, 2 bee journals that just need a bit of sewing.

The pressing mat with the immediate use items for the past 2 weeks. I needed to film my technique for applying napkin to cardstock using mod podge and an iron, giving you almost wrinkle-free finished product.

TAG TUESDAY - Patriotic Tags & a Pocket

 Good morning, crafty friends!

I'm trying to get back on the ball this week. My goal is to finish the Patriotic journal in the next couple of weeks then finish the Bee journal I started three years ago. Just needs a bit of sewing.

This tall tag was created using a Dear Julie Julie digital - American Hydrangeas The flag is from a bag of cupcake picks from $Tree, the word is cut from the paper pad I'm using. The button is part of a Stampin' Up! collection and the paper clip from my stash. The paper clip will be used to attach the tag to the side of a page.

This tag and pocket were made from the Friday Freebie video where I showed a napkin tip. The tag and pocket were cut from the napkin-covered cardstock.

The embellishments are from hte Stars & Stripes Junk Journal Kit from the PochandPothosStudio on Etsy.

I'M STILL HERE!

 Hi friends!

That 25 days of Christmas was a struggle towards the end. Trying to get through everything I needed to do and I failed to bring anything here. 

The Pink Christmas journal is finished and available for purchase. You can see the final flip-through video HERE.

I also wound up with a lot of Christmas cards. I'll try to show some of those on Friday's this month.

My plan for this month is to finish the Patriotic Journal. I need to stitch in the five signatures then I can start the decorating process. In a perfect world I'd love to finish the journal this week but I have to pace myself with author stuff and household duties. I'm determined to have An Ozarks Homecoming done and ready to go before the 31st. Let's hope!

Sadly, no pictures for  you today as I'm crunching this in on Saturday just before supper but I did want to check in.

There will be a TagTuesday video late afternoon Tuesday. I'll be working on tags for the Patriotic journal.

WOYWW - 895

 Good morning, crafty friends!

Week 895! As I set up my planner for the month of August, was surreal to write 899 on one of my post its. We are so blessed to have Miss Julia, Lunch Lady Jan (who kindly took over while Miss Julia dealt with a health issue) and now Miss Sarah! Thank you, ladies, for making this grand event possible.

The Pink Christmas journal is nearly finished. I'll be offer the journal up for sale in a week or two on my YouTube channel.

The pile to the immediate left is a stack of items I got from a recent live sale with Rebekah Wills. She does lovely handmades a well as thrifty finds. The far left pile is stuff I gathered up during a cleaning session Saturday and haven't quite figured out where it needs to go. Tag material, mostly.

Progress is being made on the studio. I hope to show at least an in-progress picture next week.

WOYWW 894

 Good morning, crafty friends!

It's been a long couple of weeks. Thank you for being here when I had time to come back and visit with you.

I got some great information from the RSJ conference. Normally held every year, they've decided to go to every other year while adding smaller events throughout the off year. I think that's nice and it saved me a chunk of money I really couldn't afford to put on my card right now.

I didn't get as much done during the writing retreat but I still have eight days left of the month-long writing challenge. 

Add in that I've not been able to access my email through mail.com on the computer for about six weeks. You do not want to know how much email backlog I have across three emails. Ugh! I've had to start using my gmail for everything, which is also not going to be fun.

Finally, last Sunday I got with a tech on JustAsk that was fabulous. He troubleshot everything I'd already done and finally came to the same conclusion I'd been thinking for the past two weeks. Mail.com doesn't want to keep the browser email. They want everyone to move to the app. I don't do a lot on my phone but I do have my art email on there. As we talked, he asked, "you are using an iPhone. Do you have an iPad, a slightly larger screen?"

The lightbulb went on. While using the iPad isn't my favorite solution, it is a solution. Later in the week I'm going to order a bluetooth mouse to make navigating the email a bit easier.

Good news is, I'm getting crafting in. I've needed the release from all the technical stuff. LOL

Not the best lighting this  morning. I have the page edge pieces and three tags for the Pink Christmas journal. But I have a question for you. Look on the far left and you'll see something with an orange/ red and gray handle. Any clue what that is? I'll give you a hint.. it's by EK Success.

WOYWW #892

 Good morning, crafty friends!

I did manage to get 'round to those of you who commented last week. Between the 4th of July weekend here in the states then realizing the writing conference I thought was next week is THIS week... ugh!

I've been recording videos like crazy for the 25 Days of Christmas series, including the ones I need scheduled for Thursday, Friday, Saturday, and Sunday. 

Here's where I left my desk last night after recording the same card video SIX times because I either messed up my intro or forgot to push record. LOL It's been a Monday on a Tuesday for sure!

I have things laid out pretty well for the multi-project crafting. I've moved some of the collections from the shelf over to my ScrapRack base. I have the Pink Christmas kit on 2 spines, pink, white embellishment components in the other 2 spines. 

I've started leaving the collapsible cup on my silicone mat up. Works out quite nicely for holding things. The card to the top left of the mat is the card for Thursday. In the process I discovered I'm out of Real Red cardstock so tomorrow morning before it gets hot, Bob and I'll have to go out to the warehouse to see if I have any left in the back up. I hope so. I've been using a lot of Real Red and Garden Green for the card bases.

My first meeting is at 11 a.m. CST tomorrow morning, then it's late nights, early mornings through Saturday. I'll try to get 'round.

 Good morning, friends!

Welcome to July!  This year is just sliding by. That's why it's so important we keep in touch.

Last week was super crazy with interruptions. I'm getting back on track this week.

Today, I launched the 25 DAYS OF CHRISTMAS on my YouTube channel. I'll be posting the week's cards on Friday of each week but y'all get a sneak peek today.

Each day for the next twenty-five I'll make 5 cards; 1 premade before the video, one on the video then three after I've filmed to round out the stack. By the 25th I'll have about 85 cards. I want all new ones for folks this year.

On Monday the 6th, I'll also be sprinkling in a new journal - a Pink Christmas kit I've had in my stash for about five years. I'm trying to work through all of my kits. It's time and it's feels great to be creating on a regular basis.

As if July isn't going to be crazy enough, I'm also taking part in #jaritupjuly pantry challenge. I don't want to run either of the canners or dehydrator when the AC is running, I'm only doing dry canning. If you want to learn more, you'll find what I'm making in my Ozarks Journal blog post this week.

Lastly, I'm finding my writing routine again and dedicating two hours every night (except the 4th) to pull this manuscript together. I love my characters in this book but I'm ready to meet my next reunion couple.

 Good morning, friends!

In the center you'll see the 'list' journal I created for Julie's Mini Challenge In the Challenge for this month. She has one of these mini challenges every month for those who might want to play but don't have the time or the inclination for the larger month-long challenge. Like all of her challenges, there are specific requirements. In attempting this mini, I remembered why I stopped doing her challenges. I want to create what I want, how I want, use my own creativity. I just don't find the challenges fun for me. I'm okay with that. This is NOTHING against Julie. She's a lovely person and so many people enjoy her challenges. Sadly, I'm not one of them. You can see my struggle in my #TagTuesday video yesterday.

So here's my plan going forward.

I will be making a journal every month from kits I have curated based on my preferences and style. This month, I'm making a Patriotic birthday to celebrate the 250th birthday of the USA. Definitely a keeper journal. Next month, I plan to work through my Pink Christmas for Christmas in July (mind you, while posting Christmas cards - time to get on those!)

WOYWW #888

 Good morning, crafty friends!

Wow! Look at that number. 

I've always been conscious of numbers and their meanings. I'll leave a short video at the bottom for you. But in general, 888 means Abundance, Prosperity, and everything is falling into place as it is meant to be. 

I'm feeling that now. As my desk this week shows, I'm back to creating.

I'm doing a patriotic journal this month and decided to jump in to the DearJulieJulie challenge this month. June Just Junk Journal Challenge 26. I've not played in her challenges in a couple of years but she's been doing some new things with the challenges and I love to learn new things.

The chair holds a canning jar box with most of the items I'll pull from for the challenge. The page in the center of the desk is the list of requirements. I'm not doing the full challenge, which requires posting to the facebook group, but I'm following some of her items and will be doing videos along the way. You'll find the details for this month's challenge HERE. This is a month-long challenge so plenty of time to jump in. I've done her challenges in as little as 3 days. I don't recommend that. LOL

 Good morning, crafty friends!

Sorry I skipped last week and didn't get 'round to folks. I'll do better this week.

First off... progress has been made:

A relatively clear desk. I filmed two videos yesterday so the organization had to happen. the 2 brag book photo albums on the right are my catalogs of 12x12 paper pads. I'm on the hunt for something with a Patriotic spirit for this month's junk journal as USA is celebrating 250 years! Sometimes I wonder how we got this far. I wonder if our forefathers saw this for us and if they're shaking their heads at what we've done to this country.

I also got the big red bag moved to my car. Little things here and there.

Okay... next. I've been doing a lot of gardening. With the exception of two flower beds on either side of the front step and the accompanying flower boxes, I'm done planting. Now to just keep everything alive. 

This is a tower of Juliet Roma grape tomatoes. They're supposed to be meatier (like full size Roma paste tomatoes). We shall see. I plan to dehydrate the produce then grind into tomato powder this fall.

I have one of these towers with strawberry plants in them. We can't put the strawberry bed in until the local fireworks tents set up and I can confiscate cardboard for mulching the new bed. For now the strawberry plants are in a holding pattern. 

I'll show you the front flower displays next week (if I remember. hehe )
