WOYWW 849

 Good morning, crafty friends.

I'm sliding in late this morning. Needed to get laundry on the line then take pics of what I've been working on. No desk this week.

I purchased doll houses from $Tree about 3 or 4 years ago to make 'haunted houses' found in THIS video on Youtube.

This week, with cool/ dry temps I was able to pull out the container and start spray painting.

The three taller ones are two of those smaller houses built upon one another. That small one in the back with the bay window roof... you take the roof off that one, remove the roof from the smaller one in front then attach the bay roof to the top of that one.

I really don't have room in this house to put out my entire Christmas Village so last year I decided to give them their own places throughout the house. I placed all my North Pole village pieces on the top shelf in the laundry room. This year, for October, I'll put the haunted houses. Alternating the 2 story houses with the 2 smaller houses.  I'll fill in the gaps with figures and these...

These are white bottle brush trees from the dollar store. I'm giving them two coats of Espresso Brown spray paint to give them that dead pine look.  I plan to put orange, purple and green lights inside the houses. thought about putting the small strobe lights from $ Tree but I'd have to climb up every night to turn them on as opposed to just plugging in string lights.

I'll post pictures when I'm finished.. probably the first week in October.

hat's it for my desk (and story) this week. Who's Miss Sarah and why am I here?  When you are done visiting me in the Ozarks, please hop on over to Sarah’sCraft Shed for all the details. Miss Sarah has a long list of other studios you can peek into. No standing on an up-turned milk pail to look in the window. We open the doors wide and welcome you.  Please leave your number and you'll be among the first on my list.

WOYWW 848

 Good morning, crafty friends!

First off, Happy Retirement to our leader, Sarah. Be prepared to be busier than you were when you were working. ;-)

Now for my quiet desk:

Stamp sets from the tag I made for #Tagtuesday, the ribbons I chose from and the newly cleaned scissors.

Seems we've been on the go a lot lately. I'm looking forward to being home for at least a couple of days.
One day a week I take a ME day. I go into town and sit at my favorite coffee shop - usually with my planners. But I made the decision this week to only take one thing - a book.

I read one book a week to spotlight the author and review their book on my author channel. I decided I'm taking an older book with me instead of my planners. Not one I need to review but one I want to read. I have a 5-shelf book case in my bedroom of books to be read. When I've finished the book, I put half the cover price (NOT the price I paid - which was usually .10 - .25 each) into my book journal envelope. I figure by the time I've read all 360 books, I should have quite a nest egg.

What about you? Are you a reader? What do you like to read.

 Good morning, crafty friends!

I have to be out and about today so took this picture last night and set the post so I could link up this morning before I forgot.

The tag is part one of my Tag Tuesday. I ran it yesterday on my youtube channel. Will have the finishing in part two next Tuesday.

I used papers from Gilded Autumn (Stampin' Up! 2021)

WOYWW 845

 Good morning, crafty friends!

QUICK NOTE:  The tag I'd hoped to have done today will definitely be tomorrow. The book I needed to review took longer than I'd anticipated, so no crafting yesterday.

I'm sliding in the door late. Got up to a dead battery on my phone.

I have two desks to share this week.

First, my actual crafting desk:

Not overly exciting. The pile on the far left needs to go back to the office desk and those post its get entered into my planner. The awl... guess who used then didn't put back (Bob), the iron I used to press some ribbon and my detail scissors. The white holder in the back is full of little stuff I need to put away. Easy peasy clean up for crafting this afternoon.

Office desk:

I finally got the large work island cleared so I could set it up as my permanent office space (unless I need to cut large pieces of fabric). My computer, external keyboard, a clean mouse pad, the planner holder for my BIG Happy Planners and my mini kanban board for my current To Do projects.
I've been trying for months to get this worktable to this point. I have one small sorting box I need to clear out, find better places to put the keeper items then get rid of it. This will allow me to move the work stuff to the far right of the table. Or, set my mini kanban board to my right. But at least the desk is clean and functional. yay!!!

WOYWW 844

 Good morning, crafty friends!

I'm setting this blog post up before I head to bed so I can link up at a decent hour.

Here's the desk:

Pretty bare. The tag was on my blog yesterday and my YouTube channel. I used remnants of my Winter's Veil paper pack to make a tag w/ a pocket.
In the background you can just make out a die and some red 'circles' - to the left of a snowflake punch out. Those will be hole reinforcers for the December Daily album from last year I'm trying to finish up using a digital from Tina at Scrappydabbydoodah.

Not really exciting, eh? LOL
I did promise you a picture of how I cool off in the hot weather -

This is a 6' by 2.5' depth stock tank - yes, for watering horses and cattle. LOL Works great for just the two of us. It's situated in the corner of the house where my office connects. Nice and private. Gets full afternoon sun so heats up pretty quick. I like evening soaks and look at the stars.

On our 25 acres (24 of it is timber bordering the Mark Twain National Forest) we have quite a bit of wildlife. While we know there are turkey's, in the 20 years we've lived here we've never seen more than one or two at a time.

a mama hen and SIX young ones.

This next picture features a couple of deer that come through frequently. If I'm not mistaken the mamma in this picture is one I was treated to seeing minutes after she was born courtesy of a mamma and grandma deer. Both of those have since been added to a hunter's freezer but this baby has grown up to be a mom of her own. The baby is the one lagging behind. From the time this baby was still wearing spots, she's always lagging behind. LOL

Oh yeah, and the guard kitty - Fluffy napping through the whole experience. He is the Ginger MaineCoon/ Ragdoll cat that comes and goes as he pleases. He stays with us for several weeks then wanders off and is gone anywhere from two weeks to a month then he comes back eating like he'd not eaten the whole time he was gone LOL.
We think he was mistreated by a man. He's still shy of Bob sometimes. Took me almost 8 months to get him comfy with me. Over 2 years later and he's still wary of Bob.

WOYWW #824

 Good morning, crafty friends.

I need to catch up on my 100 day project. I've been making the tags just not posting. Bob will only be gone another three or four days and I'm trying to make headway in the studio.

First, my desk:

What I'm trying to get done while Bob is gone requires sorting stuff on the dining room table. I'm trying to get all of my bling organized as well as rearranging my fiber drawers to make room for all the Stampin' Up! ribbon I had to keep handy when I was a demonstrator. Since that isn't necessary, I'm working on blending those ribbons in with the other two drawers - making three drawers, actually. That craft box on the far left holds the lace trims I've been carding to but in the smaller box you see on the far left. That will open up a larger third drawer for ribbon. Isn't it always a process?  The papers in front are the printouts for my rough draft challenge coming up in April. I'm hoping to finish the draft of Book 2. I've not worked on the book since last July. Its time has come. I feel ready to finally finish the story and get back into a writing routine.

The boxes in the top left are full of ribbon to be carded as well as rolls of bling. I'm going to leave those on their rolls and give them their own box section.

Here's the flat bling I've been working on. This project is finished as you'll see in the final picture.

Pile of bling ready to be sorted in to categories

Sorted

All filed by category

I'd always had the bling in 5x7 card bags standing up like this but not in any order, which meant flipping through all of them to find what I wanted. I moved them to pockets cut from 4x6 brag books lined with a piece of poster board for stability cut to 3-7/8" by 5-7/8" then make file tabs an inch taller than the pockets and labeled everything. Before I had them in a phot box. This box was originally a sardine tin case box so takes up about one-third less space than the photo box. I'll be able to find the right bling for a project much faster.

 Good morning, crafty friends!

Quick post before I take off for a ME day. I try to do them once a week where I walk away from everything and do what I want to just relax. Sometimes I throw in paying a bill because it's practical while I'm out.

Here's my desk as I left it last night:

I had just finished filming a video on Goal Setting for my author channel.

If you've not seen any of my tags (today's will be put in tomorrow's post), they are posted daily on my YouTube channel community tag and on my IG. I'd love to have you follow me on IG.. I am KellysCreativeDreams.

WOYWW #822

 Good morning, crafty friends!

I do apologize for missing last week. I got up way too early (like today) and didn't even think about our group until I had my head back on a pillow a few short hours later. I thought I'd get ahead of that today.

So here's my desk:

Not super exciting, is it?
Since I got the filming/ crafting corner organized, I've been really good about cleaning up after a project. This morning I'll be working on my Day 10 & Day 11 of the #dothe100dayproject. Are you playing along? If you are, please make sure to tell me in the comments.

If you don't know what the #dothe100dayproject is, the concept is to do something, anything, whatever your project for 100 days. I've tried several times in the past and dropped off around Day 5. This year I made it through Day 9 before yesterday just hit me. I slept in late (go figure!) then put Bob to work helping me move appliances in the laundry room for a deep clean. He had the heavy lifting because I had no energy to do anything. I did do the dusting, sweeping, mopping then let him move everything back. Between tasks we sat at the dining room table playing cards and Yahtzee. Yesterday must have been a low energy day for Bob as well since I won everything we played. ;-)

They say if you skip 1 day, you're okay. But if you skip 2 days in a row, you're doomed. So  my first task for today is to get Day 10 & Day 11 done before I do anything else (including maybe needing a nap).

My project is to make 100 tags - 10 in each of 10 themes. I'm using a card sketch as inspiration for each day's tag. I've posted in my FB group, Instagram, here and on the community tab of my YouTube channel if you want to check any of them out.

 Good morning, crafty friends!

I have about 4" of snow ( less than we were forecast) and the temperature is currently 8* F.

My backyard looking towards the garden

My desk is in a sad state. I started with a zoom call at 8 a.m. CST with my business mentor, Amber McCue. I spent most of the day working on the laptop there before moving back to where I usually work on the computer. I was there until 6:30 p.m.  Way too long on the screen but Tuesday nights are my 'late' night with my writing group.

I'll mess it up later today. I want to finish cutting hearts from all of the January 2022 Paper Pumpkin scraps and get that put away. Then I think I'll be back to cutting map inserts out for the pockets in the 50 states journal.

Thank you to those of you who shared your places of interest last week. Even if you aren't in the US, was nice to hear about places you treasure.

 Good morning, crafty friends.

So far we've escaped the ice that was predicted for Monday, Tuesday, and today. We're hovering at about 34* F.

Lots to do in the office today. Here's my desk:

I have a video going up this morning for the 50 States coffee table junk journal I'm making. I'm trying to showcase a video on some part of the project every Wednesday. Today is about making pockets for the '5 Must See Places' in each state.

I know a majority of you are from across the pond but if you have any information about your state, I'd love for you to put it in the comments of any of my Wednesday videos. If you have a YouTube channel, I'll be sure to give you a shout out.

WOYWWW # 816 - I'm Back!

 Good morning, crafty friends!@

I have missed you all so much.

I left the blogs & YouTube back in July to focus on getting the craft room in order rather than adding to the chaos on a weekly basis. Oh, I was still creating but not for those platforms but mostly for challenges trying to win/ earn more free product. LOL Go figure!

Before cluttering my desk up yesterday I made Valentines from a past Paper Pumpkin kit. I'm determined to work through all of them this year, get them out of here and the stamp sets in with the rest of my very organized stamps.

The chaos is still here but I finally have destinations for everything and am slowly getting areas in order.

Here's my desk as of this morning but will be cleared by this afternoon.

Obviously not staged for the photo LOL. This all came off the window ledge I'm going to show you next. I will sort, pitch and find a new way to store everything here as soon as I finish this...

I wanted to move my paper sewing machine over to the crafting corner so it's available for sewing around tags, journal covers, etc. Before this it was on the total opposite end of the room in the sewing corner. I have a fabric machine for over there.

The empty unit to the right of the machine is where my ink pads go. I'll also fill in the stamp pad slots above with most used ribbon spools then the rest will go in the ribbon drawers on bobbins by color.

To the left of the machine is a Recollections organization piece I think is going away. Just takes up too much room. I'm going to try moving it to my journaling corner but if that doesn't work then I'll put it in the thrift box.

Good morning, friends.

I'm coming late, thanks to thunderstorms. I was in the middle of typing up the post when I lost internet so let's try this again.

My desk as I left it last night:

The French Door tag (my term). was for a challenge with the Spectrum Art & Friends FB group. I used Crafter's Companion .... ( name escapes me but it's in the video - HERE

For the same Nautical challenge I want to use this rice paper from Ciao Bells. Not sure what it's going to be.

WOYWW 788

Good morning, friends.

Joe Bonsall
May 18, 1948 - July 9,2024

If you have enjoyed country music over the years and listened to the Oak Ridge Boys then you'll understand why my heart is heavy this morning. Joe Bonsall, tenor for the Oaks, passed away yesterday after a battle with ALS. He was 76 and was touring up until last year. I had the pleasure of connecting with Joe a few years ago. What a guy! We also shared a love of cats. Many of us will continue #Caturday on twitter--the social media he was most comfortable in. I'll be reviewing his latest (and last) book later this year.

I do apologize for not getting 'round last week. The days just slip away, it seems. I'll try to do better this week but probably not until Sunday as I have a 3-day writing conference this week.

But here it is Wednesday and here's my desk:

I know this looks staged and it kind of is. I laid stuff out last night to film a video.
I created my own 2x2 post it notes in Avery labels so I'd have them for my kanban board. So tired of not being able to find red in anything smaller than the 3x3.

In Avery labels I was able to create 2x2 squares in the colors I wanted (though I'd have liked a darker purple rather than lavender). I could also put a transparent image in the middle and give each one a header. So easy to personalize whatever you need with their multitude of templates and graphics.

They only drawback is they won't be sticky (unless I wanted to do a light coat of rubber cement on each one) but as I need them I'll use the removeable tape runner to attach to the board.

If you've never been to Avery labels, go snoop. That's my rabbit hole invitation for this week.

 Good morning, crafty friends!

I've had a busy couple of weeks and Wednesday's just seem to fly by before I realize.

Before I go further, on my last visit I meant to post the ATC I received from Susan Renshaw. The ATC was part of a card and beautifully created. Thank you, Susan! I hope you've received yours by now.

Now my desk for this:

The digital from Spectrum Art Creations & Friends FB group. Madi from Spectrum Art Creations offered up a free 4th of July digital along with a challenge for us to use any of the images to create anything we'd like to enter into the Flash Challenge. Deadline is midnight July 4th. I got right on fussy cutting the images this morning and created this tag:

I have tomorrow and Thursday to create more entries. First on my list for today is to make a Memory Dex card. The more entries I get in the more chances I have at a $5 GC for their on-line store.

Good morning, crafty friends!

Only Wednesday and already been a busy week. Repairs on my truck, a new stove being delivered tomorrow and prepping for my trip next week. No desk next week as I'll be visiting my grandgirls. Just wish Bob could go, too but someone has to take care of the critters.

My desk for this week:

The desk as I left it night before last. The cards to the right are fairy themed cards using Autumn of Fairy postage stamps. I got the idea from Tim Holtz' idea - ology reveal video a couple of weeks ago. Why buy more stuff when I need to use what I have - though his stamp sticker book was intriquing.

WOYWW 783 & A Short Video

Good morning, crafty friends.

Looks like another rainy day in the Ozarks. Bob has the truck loaded and is headed home. One trip down and five to go.

NOTE: I have ATCs done. they were a bit delayed in posting due to Memorial Day events here. I hope to get them mailed tomorrow or Friday.

I meant to post last week but was a bit out of sorts. I'll put a video and further explanation at the end of the desk.

Speaking of:

This is my desk as I left it yesterday afternoon following a collage tag video (posted to youtube Tuesday afternoon)

I love how these mini tags came out. They were inspired by Margret at SevenPlaza.

Now... where was I last week? Recovering from a cyclone. If you'll watch the video below (posted by Jordan Hall), you'll see that on Memorial Sunday, a cyclone hovered over my house. I have time stamps in my comments on the video (KellysCreativeDreams)

All is well here. Barely a twig out of place. Can't say much for the business and house a mile west of me. While the house wasn't damaged, every tree in direct proximity to their house was uprooted. The business lost their roof, moved a couple of vintage cars and scattered said roof along the 4-lane highway for a mile. A friend of hours lost his shed and roof on the tornado that came through on Saturday morning.

In the 18 years we've lived here, we've had to go to our shelter four times... two of those were last weekend!

WOYWW #779

 Good morning, crafty friends!

Wednesday is making an appearance once again... as are the rain and storms. We're forecast for more this afternoon then I think we get a couple of days break before we're looking at rain every day next week.

Before I forget, I'd love to ATC swap with you. Please send your email to KellyH (at) artlover (dot) com

Please do NOT use the contact for on the blog. I seldom check that LOL

I have two desks to show this week.

The actual desk:

Not super exciting. Just my art journal on top of my new mixed media mat I picked up at a church rummage sale last week. I've been tearing pages from it to work on various projects in the Art & Junk Journal on-line retreat this week. Today is the last day for the Free Pass but I bought the All Access so I have the All Access Pass Extravaganza yet tomorrow.

Here's where I've been doing some of the work:

This is the ironing board platform at the end of my work table. I've been doing most of the wet stuff here. The bat at the bottom is actually a silicone baking/ pastry sheet I picked up at Menards (home improvement) for under $4!!!  I have tissue papers pulled to redo the collage class. I'm discovering I am just not a collage person  - at least not in an art journal standpoint but I'm going to give it one more go.

That's it for my desk (and story) this week. Who's Miss Julia and why am I here?  When you are done visiting me in the Ozarks, please hop on over to Stamping Ground for all the details. WOYWW #778

 Good morning, crafty friends!

Beautiful day in the Ozarks. I've sent Bob off to spend the day with his buddies from IA. He took a roaster full of pork steaks and gravy and some minute rice to cook when they're ready.  As soon as I sit for a few minutes I'll get the cinnamon roll dough started.

My desk:

I finished up a challenge item for Madi's Spectrum Art Creations & Friends FB group, filmed the video then was done for the day.

This is what I made:

You'll find the inspiration video -- > HERE. Madi's is 3x4 I believe (perfect for putting into a junk journal for journaling spots) but I wanted something larger that I could put in my planner. I'll use the pockets to tuck the challenge detail cards from the FB group. We have challenges - usually 4-7 - that go from the first of the month to the end of the month. Madi's plan is not only for us to buy products but to USE THEM! Cool concept, right? LOL

Mine measures 6x8 with 5 pockets. In Madi's video you'll notice her entire base is also a pocket. I made mine to just be a flat base. Except for the charm and brads, I used all Stamperia products. the papers were from the Artelier paper pad.

You'll find my video explaining better ---> HERE.

Okay. I promised you Clematis pictures this morning so here you go:

Little Duckling

Fuschia

Purple 1

Purple close up

I always wanted Clematis and am so happy to see these beauties flower every spring.

That's it for my desk (and story) this week. Who's Miss Julia and why am I here?  When you are done visiting me in the Ozarks, please hop on over toStamping Ground for all the details. Miss Julia has a long list of other studios you can peek into. No standing on an up-turned milk pail to look in the window. We open the doors wide and welcome you.  Please leave your number and you'll be among the first on my list.

Creative Blessings!

WOYWW #777

 Good morning, crafty friends!

I do love that number!~

If you're in to numerology, here's the meaning behind 777:

"linked to self-discovery and personal growth. Take time for yourself and embrace the solitude. Tune out distractions and contemplate your direction in life."

Go create and spend time with your best friend - YOU!

Remnants of the Make It - Mail It post I did on Monday. You can see them by clicking - HERE

I didn't get pictures take of the Clematis today. Will try to do that for next week. I went back to bed this morning. LOL

WOYWW #776

Good morning, crafty friends!

776 - has a nice ring to it.

My post is sparse this week, which I know Miss Julia prefers but we have so much fun getting to know one another in longer posts.

A bit blurry this morning as I haven't even had my lemon water yet.

the remainders of a video I did yesterday for #TryItTuesday showing how to use your Nuvo Drops, Liquid Pearls and Stickles. You can see the full video ---> HERE  The Stampin' Blends are from a recent order and need labeled then put in their slots. The overall table really needs a tidy but I've been so busy finishing up the 533 stamp sets (yes, I added a Sentiment collection from Stampin' Up! on that order). I'm down to just labeling the dividers and putting them on the shelves. I'll link that video below:
