MAKE IT- MAIL IT MONDAY

 Good morning everyone!

Spent a bit of time getting a couple of cards made for today before I totally empty out the filming corner. I'm tired of the disaster. I'm taking the studio one area at a time and working my way through.  I'll show pictures on Wednesday of the first mini-project I did on Sunday.

Before I get into today's card I want to talk about the Cardmaker's  Success Summit 2023 that will be going on the end of this month. I participated last year and had a blast. We even have a virtual crop... and it's all FREE! (Though if you want life-time access, you can purchase an express pass)

Today, I played with Lindy's again. I know... surprise!  But I also added in older sets of Stampin' Up! Brushos and Sprinkles.

Here are the two cards then I'll tell you what I did.

You'll notice one is lighter than the other. That is because you will NEVER get the same look twice when working with these powders. That's part of the magic.

I mixed up the powders (Stampin' Up! Granny Apple Green) (Lindy's Magicals Forest Green from the Jingle Bells collection) with a few squirts of rubbing alcohol then dabbed the color on with a makeup sponge. You'll get a walk-through in the video below.

Then I layered a strip of varigated tweed patterned paper from my stash as well as the image in the center. I mounted the mat on a retired SU Emereld Envy card base from my stash. 

I've been asked if I decorate the inside. I do, just usually when I'm ready to send it off so I decorated these with identical insides:

I used clear vellum stickers from The Paper Studios St. Patrick's Day packs.

MIXED MEDIA MONDAY - Happy St. Patrick's Day Treats

Until I'm in my studio, Mixed Media Monday is going to be a mish mash of whatever I'm able to work on. This week, I bring you something I made for my granddaughters.

My sister pointed me to a pin for a St. Patrick's Day Treat jar she knew her nieces would love. Well, of course that meant Grandma had to make them - because I fell in love with them, too.

I altered the recipe to accomodate what I had on hand so I wasn't buying stuff hubby and I were not going to eat. I used:

Shamrock Lucky Charms...
         the only marshmallow shapes in these special boxes are 4-leaf clovers & pots of gold!
Rice Chex
Honey Nut Cheerios
Pretzel Sticks... which I broke in half so they mixed well with everything
Green M & Ms.

I mixed everything together and filled two clear acrylic 'mason' jars I got at Hobby Lobby for $4.99 each.

I wanted to personalize the glasses for each of the girls so I dug into  my St. Patty's Day embellishments and came up with these sticker sheets....

Using strips of carboard, I wrote each of their names on the back of one (see the left side of above photo) and a sticker. Then I covered both pieces with clear contact paper. On the other strip I attached the Leprechaun hat with red tape.. the strong stuff. That's also how I sandwiched the two pieces together. leaving a space to slide over the straw...

Although I'm sure there is a slight air gap where the straw slides in and out I wasn't too concerned about the cereal going stale there but I did cover the tip of the straw with cellophane and sealed with green washi tape until the jars arrive at their destination in WA state later in the week.

I've been working on my Tim Holtz tag for March. Having to improvise on some of the products so it's a slow process this month. I hope to have that one ready to post next week.

Magazine Monday

I'm so glad I got the posts for this week and next pre-written. We're having so much fun with Adrian but it seriously cuts into my computer and creative time. I'm hoping we can get some stamping in today so maybe... maybe I can get a Teapot card done for this week. We'll see.

In the meantime I came up with this card during the last Virtual Stamp Night (VSN) over at SCS.

Okay, so this card is a couple weeks late. But being Irish, it’s St. Patrick’s Day all year long for me. I made three of these cards. One went to my granddaughter, one to my oldest sister and one to a 2nd cousin whom I’ve not seen in years but we share the same surname.

This is another one of those horrible pictures I told you about last week. It isn’t yellow – honest. It’s supposed to be SU Very Vanilla paired with ValuCS Primary Green. I used a St. Patrick’s Day sentiment stamp from Studio G and cut the mats from the Cricut Lacy Labels cartridge.

I kept the layout the same from a card by Beth Opel, called Joy to the World in Nov/ Dec 2012 Paper Crafts magazine. I found a link to Beth’s typepad, which she closed on March 22nd so I can’t link you to her creativity.

Beth did a business-envelope sized horizontal card in silver from DCWV. She created a 2-layer ribbon strip black on red. She used a gold doily rub-on from Hambly Screen Prints onto a red base and fussy cut around the red base about 1/8” from the doily edge. Her sentiment (rub-on from American Crafts) was done on the silver CS. She rounded the corners of this and the black mat she adhered it to before placing in the center of the doily. Beth’s card had a simple elegance about it and suitable for any Christmas recipient.

Next week I’ll give you a very early (say 6 months) peek at my husband’s birthday card. I’ll tell you why it’s so early… next week.
