10-MINUTE TUESDAY - Teapotter's Card

Good morning, crafty friends!

Today I'm launching the 10-minute Tuesday series. Does this mean we'll make a card in 10 minutes? Probably not, but we will come close. 

Through this series I'll show you some tips and tricks for putting a card together quickly.

Remember, a card doesn't have to be intricate or fancy. The sentiment from both your heart and what you put in the card is what truly matters.

For the purpose of videos, I will always be a week behind for Teapot Tuesday. That mean's that today's card was last week's call out.

Harold was recently diagnosed with Stage 4 Non-Hodgkins Lymphoma. He and his wife Paula are shocked and saddened. So we're sending cards of encouragement with a big Texas feel. They live in Conroe, TX.

TEAPOT TUESDAY - Bingo!

Good morning, friends!

Today's card is a week late. Mostly because the new challenge wouldn't post until today and I needed to get some cards/posts done up ahead of time.  This card is going in the mail this morning for last week's recipient.  You can read her (their) story HERE.

For extra's we were given this BINGO card. I went right across the top row.

I used the Attic Boutique DSP (retired SU). the three flowers in the top corner of the small mat are from Bloom & Grow (SU Current). For my sparkle, I added Wink of Stella to those three die cut flowers.

TEAPOT TUESDAY - Blue's for Judy

Hello stamping friends!

Today, I dropped in at Just Add Ink to see what the challenge was. Sketch Challenge! I love sketch challenge and this is one I'd never used before. For me, getting the angles were tricky. Probably, because I'm such a 'uniform' person. But the whole point of a challenge is to step out of our comfort zone, so here we go. First, the sketch:

I chose blues because blue is Jennifer's mom's favorite color.

Here's what you'll need to CAS this card:

Stamp Set - Floral Essence

Punch - Leaf Punch

Cardstock - Pacific Point, Seaside Spray, Whisper White

Embossing Folder - Stylish Scroll 

      NOTE: This folder is retired. I did not catch that in time. 

                   You could use Swirls and Curls as a suitable background

Inks -Pool Party, Pacific Point

Stampin' Blends-  Seaside Spray (Dk/ Light) and Soft Suede (Lt)

Embellishments - Clear Faceted Gems

Adhesives - Multi-Purpose Liquid Glue, Stampin' Dimensionals.

First off, I was inspired to use the embossing folder by THIS card from JAI Design Team member, Nikki Spencer. I hope you'll allow me to inspire you and pay it forward by creating your own design and sharing with others. 

Cut the piece of Whisper White at 5-1/4" x 4"

Run through the embossing folder.

Use Pacific Point to create your cardbase (5-1/2" x 4-1/4"). Cut a second piece 3-1/2"x 4". Use the photo of my card, or the sketch to guide you in cutting the angle. I cut up from the bottom right corner approx. 1-1/2" at an angle. Then came  back and cut up 2" from the bottom left. 

Repeat the process with the piece of Seaside spray cut 3-1/2" x 4". Cut up 1" from the bottom right and 3/4" from the bottom left.

Stamp your sentiment in the bottom right corner of the Seaside Spray piece in Pacific Point. 

Layering:

     Glue the embossed piece to your card front, followed by the Pacific Point and Seaside Spray, lining them up at the bottom edge of the card.

Stamp the largest flower from the stamp set twice using Pacific Point by stamping one full strength then as a 'ghost' or secondary stamp. Use Soft Suede to stamp the center in the darker of the two flowers. Color both images in with the Seaside Spray Stampin' Blends by going over the lines with the darker marker then filling in with the light shade. 

Color the Faceted Gem with the Stampin' Blends Soft Suede then add to the center of the darker flower. I use a bit of Multi-Purpose glue behind the gem to adhere to the flower even though they are adhesive backed. Just a little extra stability for our mail service.

Attach the darker flower to the lighter one with a Stampin' Dimensional, off-setting the top flower just slightly from the bottom. This adds extra depth and shading to your image.

Add the flower to your card front.

Stamp 2 leaves on whisper white using Pool Party. Punch out and tuck under your flower with a bit of glue.

Your card is finished and ready to share!

TEAPOT TUESDAY - 50th Anniversary

Today's teapotter card is off to a couple in New Hampshire celebrating 50 Fabulous years together.

My brain nor my hands want to work in tandem today so I went to Pinterest and found THIS card by Sandy Hancock at Udderly Awesome. Sandy cased hers from Cheryl W. So this version is getting a lot of miles amongst the Pinterest community.

Sandy and I both used Bloomin' Love and Number of years. I used Gold foil rather than the glitter cardstock. I chose the Country Floral 3D embossing folder for my mat. Anniversary is stamped with VersaMark then embossed with Stampendous Detail Gold embossing powder. I cut the banner twice, one from white cardstock and the other from the gold foil then just off-set them. I added a touch of color to the background using a dauber and Teresa Collins Gold Pigment. The foil strip is glued directly to the mat but then I popped up everything else with dimensionals.

The mat is then popped up from the Shimmer White card base with dimensionals.

Other than the WOYWW post tomorrow, I doubt there will be another post until next week. I HAVE to finish getting the office done so I need to step away from the crafting for a couple of days and just dive in. I can do a lot of things.. but just not all at once LOL

TEAPOT TUESDAY

Good morning, friends!

Last week's TPT celebrated a young man in Oklahoma.. a WWII vet turning 93 years young. We were asked to bring the red white and blue.

I used a Dapper Denim base that worked well with the words. They were cut aparts from a K & Co. Navy paper pad I've had in my stash. I inked white mats with Cherry Cobbler and Dapper Denim behind the words. Added a strip of red glitter for sparkle and cut the Star Blast die from Dazzling Diamonds glitter paper. The stars from the die became accents.

Tomorrow is WOYWW and I'll be showing some of the cards I made for the quilt shop!

TEAPOT TUESDAY - Watching Over You

This card went in the mail to a sweet lady and her husband in AZ. Sandy broke both of her feet. Her dear husband, Dave, has taken a leave of absence to care for her. What a sweetie.

I haven't used this stamp set before but when the critieria called for horses and that they were artistic people, I knew this was the set I wanted.  It's called Country-Born from the Seasons & Nature collection by Close To My Heart during their 30 Years celebration.  The stamp set has since been retired.

For the artistic aspect I attempted some sponging. Daubers are not the way to go for larger areas. I used Pool Party and So Saffron for the sky. Then I punched out a scallop circle and went inside of that with more So Saffron and Daffodil Delight. The ground is sponged with Garden Green. I stamped the horses and the tree in Early Espresso then went back over the grass and foliage area with Garden Green. This was all done on Whisper White then mounted on a Mossy Meadow card base.

TEAPOT TUESDAY - You're the Sweetest!

Can you imagine a 12 year old (or any age) saving their money and using the funds to pay of overdue lunch accounts? Well, that's what Arman did at his Orlando FL elementary school. We teapotters couldn't be more proud of this young man. He will do great things!

I pulled out a set I'd not used yet (are you seeing a pattern here?). Tasty Trucks seemed like the perfect set to deliver sweet wishes to this young man.

I used dsp from Sweet Shop (SU Occasions 2012), a strip of Pool Party for the base. The truck is colored in using Stampin' Blends. The cupcakes are topped with the smallest red enamel dots from the Santa's Workshop Enamels (SU holiday 2018) for cherries. Three Glitter Enamel Dots add a bit of pop.

Inside, I've stamped 'your the sweetest' and added 4 more cupcakes (sans cherries)

By the time you read this, Arman should already being enjoying a flood of cards.

TEAPOT TUESDAY - New Home

Two weeks ago, we were asked to make a card for a woman who had just moved into a new home next door to her daughter. There is a gate in the fence between the two yards so they can visit each other whenever.

I knew when I heard the challenge I wanted to use the Stampin' UP! set,  AT HOME WITH YOU. I even pulled the stamp set and put it on the work table. I just couldn't get to it.. until yesterday morning.  So while my card is going to be a bit later than the others, I hope she'll appreciate the thought.  I also added something from a new set in the Holiday catalog releasing September 5th - MANY BLESSINGS is similar to the At Home set but without dies. The potted flowers, basket of pumpkins and box of candy canes are the same size as the adornments in the original set. The only set back is there are no dies. Man, I could have used those cutting out two sets of the potted sunflowers this morning, but at that they only took about 15 minutes to cut both sets.

I started with a Soft Suede A2 card base. Then I cut a piece of Crumb Cake 5-1/4" x 4" and ran that through the Pinewood Planks embossing folder. 

The door is stamped on Whisper White then colored in with Soft Suede, Crumb Cake and Blackberry Bliss Stampin' Blends. The door handle is colored in Dk. Daffodil Delight and I added a gold brad at the top of the door handle where the latch is located. 

I cut the window panes out with my Xacto knife then layered a piece of Daffodil Delight card stock behind that. The door opens. I cut through the door, the embossed layer and the card base front so that you can see the white inside where it says 'to your new home' The 'to' is from Snowflake Sentiments. The rest is from At Home With You. I covered up 'on'. Welcome 'on' just didn't sound right LOL Of course, the Welcome is the welcome mat stamped in Memento Black on Soft Suede.

For the lantern, I cut out two, then used the window pane die to cut out to openings in one. I sandwiched Daffodil Delight between the two lanterns. 

The pot of sunflowers is from the new Many Blessings. I used Cajun Craze for the pot and edged with Soft Sued. The flowers have a hint of Pumpkin Pie beneath Lt. Daffodil Delight. The leaves are Granny Apple Green over top a touch of Old Olive. I stamped and colored the image twice. Then I cut the flowers and the single leaf stem from one of them. The full pot is glued flat to the card front. Then I used mini dimensionals to layer the bouquet, single flower on top. 

This is the first time I've used either of these stamp sets. I look forward to creating more cards with them.

WOYWW #479 - As I left things

Good morning, everyone!

I know I hadn't planned on playing until I was past this crazy deadlines but I was in a cardmaking frenzy on Sunday and this is how I left my desk:

I had invited the recipient of this week's tea party at Splitcoast Stampers. so needed to make sure I had a card to put up for Meredith. She is a cousin to the country duo, The Bellamy Brothers. Meredith lives in a care facility. She is 30 and has Sina Bifida. When I saw her on the guys' show, Honky  Tonk Ranch, I knew I wanted to shower her with card love.

TEAPOT TUESDAY - Let Your Love Flow

Good morning, everyone - from so far still sunny Eureka Springs Arkansas. Rain is to move in late this afternoon - about the time I'm headed for the dinner train research excursion... of course. LOL

I am playing in Teapot Tuesday at Splitcoast this week. Even though I'm 'on vacation' I had to participate because I'm the one who brought Meredith Gilmore to the tea party!

Meredith is cousin to the infamous country duo - The Bellamy Brothers. I've known Howard and David for over 25 years. When I watched an episode of their new tv show, Honky Tonk Ranch, the audience was introduced to Meredith. She has Spina Bifida and in a care facility. She is a sweet gal with a ready smile. She loves to make jewelry and catch up with friends on FB.

On the first episode of the show, the guys were debating about doing the show so they 'consulted the mermaids'. That inspired my card for this week.

Sea of Textures is a new stamp set this year from SU so I purchased that set and Magical Mermaid. The two sets are a perfect combination.  I used the swimming fish die and the Embossing Mat to create texture in the background

While the layers don't show up well in the photo, I've used dimensionals for the sea grass by stamping the image twice, watercoloring, then fussy cutting them out. I glued one flat to the card base then popped the other one up with dimensionals. I did the same with the coral in the bottom. To make sure the Tranquil Textures Sprinkles stayed in place, I glued them with dimensional glaze. The mermaid also has dimensionals.

Quick post this morning, just like our dear Ms Julia prefers.

While this may look staged, it really isn't. The Stampin' UP! items are part of an unboxing video I did last night. Will post it below if you care to see all the goodies and some new products coming out in the Christmas catalog. I have all those lovely new Blendabilities to put in their cases (those plastic cases with the color dots). To the right is a stamp/ die set from Technique Tuesday. You can see it HERE. Something I ordered special for the Post Office Christmas card. THIS is the card that inspired me.  Beneath that is my 'tickle' from my secret Teapot Tuesday partner. She sent me not only a lovely card but an embossing folder I didn't have. That is rare indeed. hehe

TEAPOT TUESDAY - National Siblings Day

Finally getting into some Teapot Tuesday posts. April 10th was National Siblings Day. I had one person in mind for this card, but it wound up being for someone else.

I thought I'd pull out a set I'd not used yet. There are a few of those on my shelf.  I wasn't sure I even liked Hey Chick but I thought my eldest granddaughter would get a kick out of it. So I picked up the free set from the 2017 Occasions Sale A Brations.

For designer paper, I went with Botanical Gazette. A retired DSP from two or three years ago. I thought the honeycomb background held a chicken wire effect. After I had the card together I realized I could have embossed the Certainly Celery panel with the honeycomb EB folder. There's always more cards.

TEAPOT TUESDAY - Off to The Netherlands

I'm happy to be back playing in Teapot Tuesday on Splitcoast Stampers. The concept behind Teapot Tuesday is to be inspired by the challenge, but also have the opportunity to send your card to a designated person who could use a bit of cheer.

This week's card is on it's way to The Netherlands. As you can see, we mail all over the world. Our tea party is in honor of Ms. Annie Beerkens. Ms Annie is recovering from a lung infection. As we get older, we know recovery can be very slow. She is 78 and still a fashionista! With that in mind, we were inspired to use fashion in our card. 

My mind went instantly to some die cuts I've been hoarding for about four years. They were the now-retired dress form die from Stampin' Up! I'd borrowed my sister-in-law's die set and cut several from patterned papers as well as velvet papers. I cut the dress forms from tan and chocolate velvet papers. Haven't figured out where to use them yet.

I started with a Powder Pink card base and added layers of paper from a Recollections Floral Squares 12x12. They were 4 4x6 art cards. I've used one as the first layer, then trimmed another down to place the red velvet dress. I tucked a very vanilla doily under the edge. The sentiment from Beautiful You (SU) is stamped in Tuxedo Momento Black on Very Vanilla and matted on Cherry Cobbler. The jewel at the breast is from SU Clear Faceted Gems. I'm not sure where all of my pearls went to.  I have several cards worth in the Scrap Rack but they were all larger than I wanted. I was looking for my SU size variety.

I hope Ms. Annie likes her card.

TEAPOT TUESDAY - Fairy Celebration!

A Little Fairy Magic

Feels good to be playing in the Teapotters club house again this week. I finally figured out the reason I stopped playing was because I wasn't getting the notices in my email on Friday's any longer. We used to get the reminders on Friday/ Saturday so we had the weekend to work on our card and have it ready to post on Tuesday. I guess I just need to get in the habit of checking the Destination Station.

This week we are showering one of our own. Elizabeth was recently diagnosed with breast cancer and is recovering from her second surgery. She tires to keep her mind occupied by crafting but could use a little pick me up.

I received my April issue of Quick Cards Made Easy from the UK yesterday and saw the perfect tutorial for the accordion fold 3D card to send cheerful wishes and fairy dust Elizabeth's way.

I chose the Carried Away DSP and the coordinating colors of Peek A Boo Peach, Mint Macaron and Watermelon Wonder from Stampin' UP!

Fairy Celebration seemed right at home with those papers and colors.

TEAPOT TUESDAY - Tickle

Our Teapot Tickle for this month was to include a lighthouse as a 'Light of Hope'. This is an InkaDinkaDo set. The 'Hello' is from a 2016 Paper Pumpkin set.  I used Stampin' Up! Marina Mist and ghost stamped part of the sea gulls in flight.

The inspiration for this card was the ATC I made for a swap several years ago. I adhered a pocket in the top half of the card to include one of them. I used the note section of the card to create a beach scene using other stamps from the Inka set as well as blasting sand for the base.

This set is a perfect example of my restraint in purchasing Stampin' UP!. I love the set we have in the Occasions 2017 catalog with the lighthouse (High Tide pg 25) but this set does everything I need, though I do like the sentiments in the SU set. 

If anyone is interested in swapping ATCs, I do have a few of these left. I always make my ATCs in sets of 20. I keep #1 then the rest are up for grabs.

TEAPOT TUESDAY - Balloons & Butterflies!

Now that I have a place to create I'm anxious to share my cards with the world. One FABULOUS place to do that is being a member of the Teapotters at Splitcoast Stampers. Teapot Tuesday is a weekly challenge where we create a card with someone in mind... someone who could use a bit of cheer or encouragement. The Teapotters have been there for me on more than one occasion, sharing their creative cards with friends of mine who needed Happy Mail at a critical time in their life. You do not have to play every week, you don't even have to send the cards. Build your stash, challenge yourself or bring a smile or comfort to someone you do not know.

This week our Destination Station is for Rylee Bernosky - sweet 6-year old who's been diagnosed with brain cancer. She loves to go with her grandma to check the mail - so grandma got Rylee her very own PO Box so now she has mail to check, too!  You can read Rylee's story HERE

I had my granddaughters in mind when I designed this card. They love kitties, balloons and butterflies. (though Adrian was afraid of them when she was 3. She thought they were bees. hehe) Adrian is now 9 and Abigail is 5. they grow up way too fast.

To lighten up the kitty image, I inked the stamp in Melon Mambo then stamped it off on scrap paper 3 times.. stamping the 4th time on the inside card mat. Gave the kitty a very soft effect rather than a pink cat LOL

I chose the Uptown Flair stack from The Paper Studios:

I used stamps from the August 2016 Paper Pumpkin, Balloon Adventures and Pretty Kitty

I used a strip of the frosted pink (shown in the picture above) and stamped the streamers in Melon Mambo. then punched three bitty butterflies from the strip. 

I added bits of misc. bling from my stash, popped up one of the balloons and the banner sentiment.

The sentiment is a straight-line stamp but because it is a photopolymer, I was able to curve the image to fit the curvature of the banner.  How cool is that!

I hope this card brings a smile to Rylee. Cancer is a horrible experience for anyone but no child should ever have to take this journey. I hope you'll join me at the Destination Station and share a smile with her, too.

TEAPOT TUESDAY

Okay, so I'm still a week behind. This card was sent to Anne last week.
Anne recently lost her husband after a long illness and she surely would be cheered by words of support from SCS pals

I can't imagine being in Anne's position. Bob and I are way too close to be without one another. 

I used Heartfelt Sympathy from SU. The inside sentiment says 'May you be comforted by the outpouring of love surrounding you'.  I think that sums up the teapotter group nicely.

The DSP was from my scrap box and matted with a Recollections CS. 

MONDAY CATCH-UP

I want to get back on my blog posting schedule... but for this week, I'm catching up on a the Teapot Tuesday projects.  Now that I can work in the studio on a regular basis, I'm getting back into the Teapot Tuesday group on Splitcoast.  If you're not familiar, Teapot Tuesday is an RAK thread where someone is chosen to receive cards for varying reasons. Today, I'm showing you cards for the past two weeks.

The first one is for Al Baker. Here's a brief shot of his story:

Al is a big guy, very bright, with an off center sense of humor. Loves to dress up as a pirate, used to go jump in the Detroit River in the dead of winter for charity (dressed in his "semi-formal" outfit of tuxedo jacket and Bermuda shorts), has been known to appear in a grass skirt & top hat at parties, and is inordinately fond of bright colors & tie dye. This would be an opportunity to use those slightly risque or downright rude stamps, if you have them- he has a vast sense of humor. He's a proponent of Zen whitewater rafting- you get to the rapid, pull your paddles out of the water, and go where the river takes you. So, he's funny, adventurous, and an outside the lines kind of guy.

When I read he takes the Polar Bear Plunge, I knew exactly what needed to be on his card:

The image is from Imediate Media - a card magazine from the UK. Since Al likes to wear his tuxedo jacket when he takes the plunge, the little penguin a bonus element.  I used Recollections CS and The Paper Studio - Beach House paper. The dots are stickles and I added a bit of natural toned paper twine.

The next card is for a sweet lady named Marilyn. Here's a bit about why she is on our list:

She is a widow. Her daughter said she walks to the mailbox every day and there is never any mail for her.

She grew up on a farm with a few cattle and hogs and grew corn. They had a chicken house and raised their own from eggs. They had a huge fruit tree orchard, apples and cherries. Her dad died of a heart attack when she was 16. She married at 19 and by age 26 there were 4 children; she raised her family in a very small town; she went back to school and became an LPN when her daughter was in junior high school and prior to that she worked the night shift in a café so she was always home for the kids and didn’t have to pay a baby sitter.

She knits, loves to read and to putter with her “tomato” plant and a few flowers.

I wanted a touch of vintage and one of my favorite images to work with is Garden Collage (retired SU).

The paper is from K & Co. The image is stamped on SU Very Vanilla in Memento Rich Cocoa. I added a bit or Recollections lace trim and three pearls. 

Marilyn will be on my monthly RAK list as well as various holidays. 

Tomorrow I will have this week's Teapot Tuesday card. Then the first Tuesday in September, my bestie from High School is the recipient. I'll share her story then.

In the mean time, we'd love to have you join us. Whether you choose to make a card or make and mail to someone .. either is fine. We just like to make friends and bring smiles.

TEAPOT TUESDAY - Off to Kansas

This week, our card is off to Debbie in KS. She is experiencing Liver failure - and has never been a drinker. Really stinks when you think you are doing everything right and something like this comes along. We're hoping our cards can cheer her up.

Here's the details:

I am trying to use of stash. Back in 2011, I was enticed into an Inspiration Kit Swap group by my bestie, Soni from Soni's Front Porch. She wanted to encourage me to play so she sent me a kit like she had sent out to the group that month.

Here is the note she included:

I am in belief that not only bad things come in threes, so let's see if we can prove that!

I am sending the same images in 3 different colors or way, with directions to do each differently. I hope you have fun. 

1 - One card in soft and pretty design and colors.
2 - One card to show me a color to show off the Groovy Guava (the designer DP she included)
3 - One card to be as different as you like - BUT please use "3". These can be 3 brads/ 3 different colors, 3 layers, etc.

Dig into your supplies.

Let's TRIPLE the FUN!

I used the tea pot and cups she had stamped in Memento Black on Very Vanilla. I layered that with the Groovy Guava (retired SU) she included with Pear Pizazz (retired SU). I gave the corners a wrought iron decorative with an EK success corner punch and added metal dots from Colorbok.

I colored the cups and tea pot with colored pencils. I used a light touch so they would be soft to coordinate with the card stock color. I also brushed the edge of the image mat with SU Blushing Bride (I did not have Groovy Guava ink)

TEAPOT TUESDAY #394 - Spring Kitten

This week's Teapot Tuesday card travels to Kay in Kansas. Kay has been experiencing a lot of health problems and the doctors are not giving her any answers. I know this must be very frustrating for her. She has lost a lot of weight and no longer gets out much.

Kay and her husband live in the country. She loves her kitties, her dog, Bear and the color blue... especially the SU - Baja Blue.

I had this stamped image in my stash from an old swap and thought it perfect for her. I used the textured Baja Breeze cardstock and added some eyelash fringe yarn. I used my Derwent watercolor pencils.
