 Good morning, everyone!

Short and sweet today!

My desk:

A bit of a disaster with planner stuff, mail I picked up yesterday and progress on my presentation. Busy morning here as I finalize my presentation for the conference and get the handouts printed and stapled. Then there's packing to be done, a dining room table to find....

Bob is on his way home. Lots of positive energy, please, as he is driving into/ through rain most of the trip.

Thank you for the visits last week. I got 'round to a few of you on Sunday. Will be the same this week, I expect.

More World Cardmaking Day!

 Good morning, everyone!

I'm going to show you what I worked with first:

I took one sheet (I thought) of each of the patterns in Nature's Harvest DSP and cut them into 6x6. Then I used 1 of each of the 6x6 and made two cards from each.

When I pulled a set out to photograph for this blog post I realized I'd missed a couple of sheets:

I cut each piece into a 4" x 5-1/4" mat. That gave me 1 mat, 1 strip and then a narrower strip to use on the inside.  This gave me two cards from each 6x6.

Before I show you today's, here is the alternate card to the one I showed you yesterday:

Here's the first two showing how I used the pieces.

This one used the 4 x 5-1/4: mat

This one used the 2" x 5-1/4" strip but I trimmed it down to fit the black mat.

Here's a couple more:

I used the Stitched So Sweetly dies and a stamped/ die cut image from the Nature's Harvest Bundle.

I didn't care for the recommended Cajun Craze, choosing to use Calypso Coral. I really liked using the black matting. I've learned how well that contrast works from Kristi Marcotte.

Final two:

I will have a quick shot of my desk tomorrow after I've finished plowing through projects that need done before I leave on Thursday.

As I'm writing this on Sunday night, I'm not sure what I'll get done for the time I'm gone. Bob is keeping the house safe while I'm gone for 7-10 days. 

SYMPATHY SUNDAY - Coming in Late

 Hey everyone!

I'm coming in so late that my first thought was to just skip the Sympathy Sunday but I'm trying to get back on track and no better time than the present.

I'll explain more about what I did for World Cardmaking Day tomorrow but this is one of the cards I made.  A junk journal friend of mine's stepdad passed away a couple of weeks ago and she has been in FL until just a day or two ago. I wanted to get a card popped in the mail to her.

I used the dsp from the Harvest Meadow DSP from the Mini Catalog. The sentiment and label are from the coordinating Nature's Harvest Bundle. I matted the DSP with Basic Black and added the Matte Black Gems.

I am supposed to get a challenge card for my upline on Wednesday. I think I'm going to get it done and will post next Tuesday (10/12).  So much to do before I leave on Thursday.  Finalizing my conference presentation and finding the house before Bob gets home Wed. evening are kind of my priorities at the moment.

WORLD CARDMAKING DAY! - Spooky Card

 Good morning, crafty friends!

Welcome to World Cardmaking Day!

This year is a lot less hectic for me than last. Today, I'm focusing on my one blog post then seeing how many other projects I can video

Today's card is a SPOOKY Card using the Festive Corners Photopolymer stamp set as well as the Magic In This Night DSP. Here's the card:

MIXED MEDIA MONDAY - World Cardmaking Day!

Did everyone play on Saturday? I did.  In past years I've always planned to do nothing but make cards on World Cardmaking Day but then I'd get household chores and whatnot out of the way. By then the day was pretty  much gone and no cards to show for it. I decided 2016 was going to be different!  I dove in right after breakfast and didn't stop except for life-breaks until after 10 p.m.

Most everything I made was to get ahead of blog posts for the Stampin' Up blog (where you'll find all the details for each card set over the next few weeks) but I thought I'd showsome of them enmasse here:

This first 'bakers dozen' Christmas cards were from a One Sheet Wonder pattern I have on my Pinterest Board

This set was from the Holiday Project Life set.

This was a design from my up-line, Brandy Cox - BrandysCards

And this last one is for a Pinterest-inspired post. I used Petals & Paisley's scraps

I kept crafting most of the day yesterday. I have 16 cards from a One Sheet Wonder to put together. Everything is cut/ punched. Just needs assembled and stamped.

I also made these adorable ornaments from Dazzling Diamonds Glitter Paper and the Merry Tags Thinlits. These are perfect for adding to a card without increasing your postage:

Magazine Monday - Horse Frame

Welcome to Monday!
I'm just back from a 4-day writers conference in Eureka Springs AR. I look forward to this weekend every Oct. Unfortunately, Abby's birthday will almost always fall the same time and I won't get to go as often - breaking a 19-year attendance streak. But my Cupcake and Tootsie pop (Adrian) will always come first.

I spent part of World Cardmaking Day working on supplies from swap envelopes. I belong to a group on SCS. Each month we take a turn at sending out an envelope of goodies to everyone else on the list. We combine the components of the envelope with our own stash to see how many cards we can make. Sadly, I am WAYYYY behind (like 2 years worth!) of getting cards made. I decided to start with my most recent envelope and work my way backwards. Well, except Sept. envelope should have been from Amy and I couldn't find where I had put it when I carried it in from the mail box. All the other envelopes were filed where they were suppose to be so I started with August - from my friend Shell.

Shell and her daughter, Jaydin, are becoming quite adept at horse riding. Jaydin is a natural and loves horses. So Shell kept to a horse theme and sent us lots of goodies to play with. I came up with six cards from her envelope... one of which I'm showing off today.

Shell sent the twine, the brad (Spare Parts) and the green embossed background. I ran a piece of SU Chocolate Chip through my Paper Studios EB to mat the horse oval. I used Derwent WC pencils to color in the horse (Clear $ Stamps - Just Horsin' Around) . I think of it as a remembrance tribute to a faithful friend.
