While out shopping last week, I found several Close To My Heart stamp sets at a price I could not pass up!

September Stamp of the Month

After seeing a Christmas card made during a card summit a couple of weeks ago using a similar style of stamp set, I knew I could use this one. Daniel West of Colorado Craft Company did a beautiful Christmas card. Here's the link to the demo Daniel did. 

I was inspired by this card:

I started with this:

I chose papers from Stampin' Up! Gilded Autumn ( Holiday 2019-2020), Early Espresso card stock, Early Espresso and Pumpkin Pie inks plus ribbon from my stash

The card base and mats are Early Espresso.

Card Base - 4-1/4" x 5-1/2"

From pattern paper - 4" x 5-1/4"

From Early Espresso - 2-9/16" x 4-7/8"

Stamp the image twice on pieces of white or cream cardstock measuring 3" x 5-1/2" - once in Early Espresso and once in Pumpkin Pie

I recommend using a stamp positioner such as a Stamparatus (Stampin' Up!) or a Misti.

Trim the image stamped in Early Espresso close to the words all the way around so that it will just fit inside the Early Espresso Mat. 

Trim the focus words stamped in Orange out close to their letters. 

Adhere over their matching words with dimensionals.

Cut two pieces of your ribbon at 2" each. Fold each one in half and stick with glue dots to hold. Then use another glue dot or double-sided tape to adhere to the back of your sentiment mat. 

Cut a piece of the brown ribbon 3" long. adhere ends to the back of the mat. Take another length approximately 3" and tie around the first piece and taper the ends (as shown in photo) 

Adhere Dimensionals to the back and place over their matching word (stamped in Early Espresso)

Stampin' Up! Sunday

 Good morning, everyone!

Did you turn your clocks back last night?

I never do. I just know that is a task I take care of as I move through my day. I've changed the microwave and the one in the dining room. Only 3 left to do! 

With the fall-back last night, I was up at 4 a.m. but that's okay. I have the video for today up on time and I've scheduled several blog posts on my cauldron blog for the entire month!

Since it's time to start thinking about fall, here is the card I made for this week:

Acorn patterned DSP - 5.25" x 3.5"

Striped DSP - 5.25" x 1.5"

WOYWW - #493

Good morning, deskers!

Since my sister began radiation treatments, I don't get here as early as I'd like. I spend a couple hours with her in a chat room before she has to make the long drive to treatment. She is doing very well but we do enjoy our time together in the mornings. We chat about my book plot, our gardens, the birds, holiday plans, and find stuff for each other on Pinterest. We enable each other extremely well :-D

Today's desk may look a bit piled but in reality, there are only 2 projects there I'm focusing on The chip wood basket on the far left will fit beautifully on the tray of my husband's oak high chair... yes, the one he had as a baby. The chair sits in kitchen/ laundry room arch way. I want to put a display there during the holidays so it doesn't become a catch-all for everything else. 

I wanted to do 2 arrangements - one for Halloween and one for Fall that I could just switch out and interchange in the basket. Sadly, with everything else going on the end of September into October, they never got done. This week, my plan is to declutter some of the Halloween/ Fall decor and I need to know how these items will pack away... and they'll be ready for next year. So those two arrangements are top on my list for today.

You know... as I wait for Bob to come home. LOL He should roll in here around four this afternoon after having been on the boat for over 28 days. Needless to say, not a lot will get done around here the next day or two. Go figure. But maybe the minimal time I will have while he's running errands or catching the last 4 days of hunting season will encourage me to make the most of the time and get words written on Book 2. The scenes are in my head... just can't seem to get them to flow through my fingertips to the keyboard.

WOYWW #440 + Fall Door Arrangement

Good morning, everyone.

First off, here's my desk for this week:

A bit busier than I usually show. You can see my most-used tools/ embellishments along the back. In the front from left to right the Character Naming Sourcebook, not sure what's at the bottom of the next stack but my recently purchased Tim Holtz Christmas items and misc. stuff kind of dropped when we got back from the city.

I'll have pictures of the Tim Holtz items on Friday if you want to see what I picked up.

Notice the Vagabond chord, Julia. The old one is down and the Vagabond 2 in place. So happy to hear you are continuing the legacy of your 'new' Big Shot. I'm sure your creativity is being smiled upon.

I apologize for not getting 'round to many of you last week. I am the Social Media person for a publishing company. One of our Western authors - Dusty Richards, had his 150th book made into a movie... which they gave us all the launch go-ahead on social media LAST MINUTE... and they wonder why we only have it in one theater so far. Painted Woman releases Friday, Nov. 10th. Based on Dusty's book, The Mustanger and the Lady. Great Western with a strong heroine showing the empowerment of women... and romance. 'Cause you know, the Good Guy always gets the Girl. ;-)

Quick picks of the Fall arrangement. Everything except the basket was purchased at $ Tree. I found the basket at a thrift store for $2.

I wound up not using the pumpkins.

they had been purchased for flower box arrangements I never made.

Hopefully, next year.

Now that the Asian Beetles have died off or gone back into hybernation I have hung this in place of the witch hat.  There won't be a Christmas one as the screw I hang this on is one of the anchors for a horizontal flag pole my Gingerbread Man flag hangs on. 

Unlike some of the houses we saw last night with their outside Christmas lights on, ours does not go on until the weekend after Thanksgiving.

Magazine Monday

With the cooler temperatures the past week, it's been easy to get into a FALL frame of mind. It feels like fall so much I'm in 'fall cleaning' mode around here. Not good when I have so many projects I want to get done. Like this card inspired by Jacki Jones.  I'd love to find a blog or website for Jacki. The only thing my search brought up was a profile of her on Hero Arts.  Her card - Natural Gift WRap Khad White - was featured in the May/June 2007 issue of rubberstamper (Yes, I'm about through showcasing artists in this issue lol)
She repeatedly stamped the Skeleton Leaves onto the gift wrap with CTMH's Autumn Terracotta, SU's Close to Cocoa, Ranger's Adirondack Earthtone Raisin, Tsukineko's Versam Magic Mango Madness and Brilliance Galaxy Gold. Wow! You gotta love a gal not afraid to mix her brands! She cut out 2 leaves, where

I only did one and tucked them behind 5/8" brown grosgrain ribbon.  My card is pretty much the same as Jacki's but I added the little tag attached to the ribbon with a gold jump ring. I used SU Dusty Durango, Pear Pizzaz as my paper layers. The leaves are stamped in SU Cajun Craze, Close to Cocoa, Really Rust, and Apricot Appeal. The ribbon is SU Pear Pizzaz seam binding.
