THURSDAY THREADS - Jen Nipps

Jenn Nipps has been a dear friend for over twenty-five years. We met at a writer's conference. She is an excellent author but I think she may have found her passion.

Young Adult Fantasy Author, Sarra Cannon says: 'Write what lights you up!'  In Jenn's case, it's no longer the writing, but the crocheting.

She crochets and is developing her own patterns. Did I mention she is also legally blind?  Yep. This woman, with her blindness and other health issues does not let anything stop her completely. She is constantly creating.

Here is a picture of one of her original designs, a twisted scarf. You'll find this one available for sale in her ETSY shop:

This Friendship Prayer Shawl was designed by her friend Malena of Straight Hooked Designs

CARD CHICKS - February

 Good morning, friends.

Can you tell Bob was home? LOL

Due to the weather that bombarded the country and his leg still healing, he stayed home an extra week. I am okay with that even though I did literally not much of anything else except spent time with him.

My friend, Vikki Jo, was our hostess this month and she sent two really cute images and some gorgeous papers.

I fell in love with the tulip patterned dsp she sent and I didn't have any house mouse stamps so the house mouse and the adorable bear images made me smile through the entire playtime.

Bob helped me pair patterns up. He has a good eye. From there I matted all three cards on Daffodil Delight cardstock from Stampin' Up! I used SU Stampin' Blends to color all the images.

Bob is only gone two weeks this time. He just left yesterday (Tuesday) I'll be spending the next fourteen days trying to get things caught up and work ahead so things don't fall down when he's home the next three weeks.

Tomorrow, I'm introducing you to another dear friend. Jen Nipps is really moving forward with a creative dream she's had for a very long time. I look forward to sharing her talents and inspiration with all of you.

WOYWW 610 - Christmas Cards!

Good morning, crafty friends. Welcome to the studio!

Before I go any further, I've found out this morning that a dear friend in the UK is seriously ill. I've known Shaz for years on here. We first met at Splitcoast Stampers, were later in a yahoo group together. She's the one who brought me to WOYWW. Please offer up prayers and blessings for Sharon and her husband, Doug. They are beautiful people and both indredibly artistic. Sending much love to them.

On to this week:

I've had a busy couple of weeks. Bob is only home one more week, if weather cooperates. This morning we are a winter wonderland of frigid temps as well as ice layered over a heavy dusting of snow. The cold and ice should hang around a few days. We are fine. Plenty of wood for the stove, food and winter supplies in case of power outage and the deck of cards that never leaves the dining room table when Bob is home. We play rounds of DEAL on and off throughout the day.

I have been crafting. I made 20 Christmas cards yesterday for the 10 on the 10th YouTube collab. I'm not actually part of the collab but am playing along so I have Christmas cards to send out come November 15th. We only need to do 10 but I couldn't remember if I joined in time to play in January so did up an extra 10 just in case - you know, so I'm caught up on SOMETHING! LOL

Here is a sample of the cards I did. If you follow my Instagram or Youtube channels you'll see all of them.  I am KellysCreativeDreams under both of those channels.

You'll see in today's video (should be uploaded late this afternoon) all of the cards and how I chose them.  Quick note that when I joined the #caseonthe5th Collab we were to case a card from somewhere. I am working with the 2011-2012 Stampin' Up! Catalogs (including the SaleABrations that this sketch came from) I used this for the birthday cards for that collab as well as these Christmas. The tree card is very similar to the inspiration card in the catalog.

Here's my work table this morning:

All the heart stuff in the center is where I'm trying to finish up two envelope journals I started for the #cannedpumpkin collab, which I am a part of. I made three Valentine love note journals from the 16 card bases then chose to make 2 additional journals from the craft envelopes. These were the January 2018 Paper Pumpkin kit. I almost finished with them, then I can put all of this away.

You'll also see the stack of cards and my stamp cleaning shammy on the right and the Coastal Cabana card bases I had left over from the Christmas cards.

Lastly - here's a few 'fun pics'.

Most everything I do in the craft room is related to a blog post a video. Last Friday night I played with some of my youtube friends. They do Gelli Printing for 2-3 hours one Friday a month. Felt good to just PLAY! I pulled about 30 prints. Here's a sample of what I created:

Finally, my typical morning when Bob is home:

Bob and I start our morning at the dining room table with coffee. There is usually a cat in Bob's arm. Most mornings, it is Tabitha. You'd never know she was once a 'timber kitty'. I took this close up of her as well. I just love this picture of her:

That's it for my desk (and story) this week. Who's Miss Julia and why am I here?  When you are done visiting me in the Ozarks, please hop on over to Stamping Ground  for all the details. Miss Julia has a long list of other studios you can peek into. No standing on an up-turned milk pail to look in the window. We open the doors wide and welcome you.  Please leave your number and you'll be among the first on my list.

Creative Blessings!
