REINDEER CLUB - Toys for Tots

Good morning, friends & Merry Christmas!

For the February meeting I want to talk about Toys for Tots.

Toys for Tots began in 1947 as the brain child of Marine Corps Reserve Major Bill Hendricks, Actually it was his wife, Diane, who was the real inspiration. When there was no organization that donated toys, she suggested he start one. 5,000 toys were donated that first year.  Today, over 18 MILLION toys are passed out to over 7 million children!

I'd say they give Santa a run and the big guy couldn't ask for more dedicated helpers.

I always donate something at Christmas time but decided this year I wanted to pick up the pace.

Check out the video for this week then leave a comment below on how you can help this amazing organization:

MIXED MEDIA MONDAY - The Paper Outpost

Good morning, everyone!

Way too early to be awake. I can't seem to sleep past 4 a.m. these days.
I set this video up to clipchamp last night before I went to bed around 8. The compacting process took until 4:30 this morning! Almost an hour later to YouTube I finally have a video. While this one is only just over 45 minutes long, my goal is to try and keep them under 30 minutes from now on.. both for my processing and your your viewing time.

Today's video was inspired by the second January challenge from The Paper Outpost FB group. I'm only a few challenges behind lol I really liked doing this challenge. There is so much you can do with a junk mail envelope.

I hope you'll grab an envelope and follow along!

MIXED MEDIA MONDAY - I won!!!

Good morning, everyone!

Today's Mixed Media Monday post is a long overdue video.

Last November I won one of eight beautiful corset pocket folder and companion journal by Sharon of Elegant Creations on YouTube.

Today's video is a flip-through of the journal. I'm also linking to the video HERE where she made the corset pocket.

Here's my flip-through video:

Please visit Sharon's channel as well as her STORE to see her beautiful creations.

MIXED MEDIA MONDAY - #FFJJC

Happy Monday, everyone!
I know, you've seen this cover before. LOL Incidently, the cover is also upside down. What you see is actually the back cover - in reverse. Been one of those weeks and always is when I'm expecting Bob home. I promise to show a right side up version on the flip through.

Today's video is a bit about the journals I hope to 'finish' this month though with Bob home until the 25th and all the stuff we have to get done, I'm betting not a lot gets accomplished on any of them until after he leaves.

In the mean time, here's my video for the week!

WOYWW 557

Here I am in all my messiness this morning.
Sorry I missed last week. Was Thursday before I realized I'd missed Wednesday  Oops!

I've been working on several projects. I have three cards I m ust get done today. (Project #1)
To the left is mostly 'office' stuff I need to keep handy until I get my planner shelf finished. (Project #2 today) That brown envelope to the top right has three CD's I need to review and schedule this week for the rest of the month of February (Project #3). I have two promoters I work with on a consistent basis. I never lack for 'work'. Beyond that sits the remains of multiple projects that I need to  put away today.

I've been doing really well about putting daytime stuff aside around 3 p.m. and putting on my author hat. I have to finish this next book in a timely manner.

Bob should be home today or tomorrow, depending n the weather and how he feels. I know he worked all night last night so I'm putting money on tomorrow - but working on the house as if he will be home in time for supper LOL

Oh, I've started a new series this year. Reindeer Club. Here's a link to my blog post (with a video inclusion) explaining everything. If you find yourself wore out on  Christmas Eve and things still not finished as you'd like, then I encourage you to join me. Let's have fun and prep like Santa's elves!

REINDEER CLUB

That's it for my desk this week. Who's Miss Julia and why am I here?  When you are done visiting me in the Ozarks, please hop on over to Stamping Ground  for all the details. Miss Julia has a long list of other studios you can peek into. No standing on an up-turned milk pail to look in the window. We open the doors wide and welcome you.  Please leave your number and you'll be among the first on my list.

MIXED MEDIA MONDAY - #FFIJJC

Today begins a new month-long challenge with dearjuliejulie. She has dubbed February as
February Finish It Junk Journal Challenge!

I think, due to the rough year she had in 2019 (losing both of her parents) she has a lot of unfinished projects she wants to get out of the way and Finish It February had a ring to it. She hasn't given us any restrictions this time around. Only that we may either choose to finish journals we have in progress (yes, there is a BONUS if we finish more than one) or if we don't have ones to fnish, to make journals from items we've already been collecting for a specific journal.

I have several I want to finish this month. Yeah, I know this is a short month but I'll do what I can to get projects out of the way before she hits us with a doosie in March. Ya  know it's coming! lol

I have the following I'd like to complete:

October Daily 2019
ABC Journal
Girls' Vacation albums
A secret journal I can't share at the moment
at leat 3 Valentine Albums for the shop

Aside from a traveler's notebook style and a love notes mini journal for the shop, my October Daily is first on my list:

This one is pretty much finished except for adding pictures.
I was on a roll to finish back in October but then Walgreens totally messed up 100 pictures! I was so ticked. So I decided to print as I go on my little Cannon Photo printer... and promptly ran out of ink. After I got two new ink cartrdiges we were knee deep in the November Challenge and this one never got finished.

I'll be working in tandem with getting the two ready for the shop.. which I'm late in opening because of an incident Saturay that put me off my game. Yesterday teh ribs were so sore from Saturday's episode that I didn't do much of anyting either except work on my manuscript. Progress but not where I needed. Life happens. I'm still sore today but I have to get things done. Bob should be home Wednesday evening.

Okay.. the list. There are 15 elements we need to include in our journals. They're pretty basic for journals across the board but help give us the boost to finish these up.

Fabulous Cover
Fabric Flip
Fold out page
Franken Page (12 x 12 and use it all in the journal)
Flowers
Flip flop page
Flip up Flip down
First (something we've never tried before)
Fun Signature Dangle
Fancy Charm
Fussy Cut images
Frame
Flinch or Playing Cards
Favorite item to make
Fluffy Tassel

she also added that if we do not have room in an existing journal to create a mini album to include the items in.

PRIZES!
Yes, there are always prizes from Julie. She is gracious about giving away digitals she has created. If we finish more than one journal, we get a prize for EACH one we complete!

She is also giving away prizes for each of the things we FINISH from our stash.. so finishing a roll of Washi, a paper pad, box of scraps, bottle/ stick of glue/ tape

So, there you have it. Our February Finish It Junk Journal Challenge!
Do you have journals started you never finished for one reason or another? NOW is the time with a little creative boost.
Come join us! I'm linking her youtube video below where Julie provides a link to our FB group.
