CARD CHICKS - July

I have three cards to show you today from the July Card Chicks kit.  Everything is included in the kit for us to use except the base. This month, the papers are from The Paper Studio as are the enamel dots. The ribbon is Offray. The stamp is by Deadbeat Designs.

You may or may not know that all stamp companies have an Angel Policy about how their stamps can be used. Deadbeat Designs policy is a bit unusual.

as long as you don't mechanically reproduce my images I won't release the dogs. So your hand-stamped cards and crafts are fine with me but if you make the Forbes 500, I may be giving you a call one day!

For this first one, I chose Cherry Cobbler. I also used Cherry Cobbler and Old Olive Stampin' Blends

Card number two, I kind of went off-grid with the color for my poppies. I chos So Saffron for the base and Stampin' Blends.

The third card uses Poppy Parade for the base and the Stampin' Blends.

I have a fourth card laid out but not put together. In December we don't receive a kit. Instead, we pull out leftovers from kits and use those for our December challenge. I have lots of left overs from previous kits and my plan (but you know what they say about plans) is to make 2 a day from each remaining kits items. We shall see.

Last post until Friday. My hip is really fighting me. I did okay yesterday but today I'm back to the nerve really pinching and not wanting to let me walk comfortably. I can only imagine what my hip will be like should I get to mow this afternoon. So dreading that task.

OH MY ACHING BACK....

I don't have a mixed media post for this week... and as you probably noticed, the card chicks cards didn't get uploaded either. The heat just really zapped me. I was pretty non-functional until Thursday.

The cards will be up tomorrow. That's the next post I'm going to write.

Last Friday, I managed to drop a battery operated chain saw on my right foot plus torqued my back taking out the trash. That was the beginning of this more than a week-long aggravation.

While the swelling has subsided in my foot and most of the lovely purple tones are gone, the back is still being a pain - literally.  So bear with me, please as being at the desk isn't the most comfortable right now.

Amongst all of this, I have garden stuff starting to come in. Over the weekend, I took (4) 2-gal bags of tomatoes out of the freezer and cooked them down to a paste. After taking Saturday completely off and living on pain meds and naps, I finally got the paste into (18) 1/4-pint jars yesterday.

I have cherry tomatoes coming in at 2-3 qts per day I'm rotating on the dehydrater and I have at least 11 large cucumbers  needing to be made into bread and butter pickle relish. The sad thing is, these things won't keep while my back heals... they must be done.

All of that, I'm not spending a lot of time at the crafting table. I do kitchen tasks then stretch out in the chair with the heating pad and nap before getting up for another task.

I don't even feel up to crocheting on those baby afghans.

After the card chicks post tomorrow, there won't be another post until Friday when I hope to have a flip-through of my July coffee-themed journal. Here's hoping!

CARD CHICKS!

Well, sort of.

I  know I said I'd have the cards to show today but yesterday became a fiasco.

I'd planned to just take trash in, grab cash at the bank for next weekend then come home and make my cards.

A snafu at the bank (their part, not mine!) had me running around yesterday ... in the heat index of 102*... in my little toy car .... with no AC!  Goddess, I was miserable.

I didn't get back home until almost 3 and still had house stuff I had to get done... after a short nap.

I'll get the cards made this morning and they will be part of my WOYWW tomorrow!

MIXED MEDIA MONDAY - Napkin Elements

This week I worked on the '3 elements made with napkins'. I should have shot a picture of the napkin by itself but you'll see the design in the video.

I have a ton of stuff to do today, preferrably before the heat index gets too bad so I'm making this a short post today.

Here's the video for this week:

You only have FOUR days left to enter the drawing for my subscriber giveaway. You'll find the details in the video HERE

I'll see you tomorrow with Card Chicks!

FRIDAY FREEBIE - Book Pages & GiveAway

Good morning, everyone!

Yep - it's Saturday.
I totally spaced getting this up yesterday as I prepped to do errands. The video went live on time but I couldn't post the link to the YouTube until after it posted to YouTube. I'll try something different for Sunday and see if it will work.

Here is the video that went live yesterday. I made the 3 Book Page elements needed for the July Just Junk Journal Challenge with dearjuliejulie.

Please ignore the fact this picture is sideways. LOL Not even the correct thumbnail.

Now to TODAY'S video.

I've reached over 200 subscribers on my YouTube channel so it's time for a GIVEAWAY!

All the details are in the very short video below:

I will see you back here tomorrow for our first Stampin' Up! Sunday!

THURSDAY THREADS - two babies on the way!

Happy Thursday, everyone!

I had a chat with a young lady last week. I've talked about Kassie before. She is my mini-me...  has been from, the first moment she entered my daycare at 5 weeks old. She is almost 22 now! Where does the time go?

My 'baby' is expecting twins in December! That means I have until mid-September to crochet two non-gender specific afghans. Once the reveal in August happens, I can begin to plan specific colors for the crib quilts.

I tried to choose a pattern I could work up quick. I'm not sure which I'm going to use yet. Tonight, I'll do a base work up of each one and see which of the two runs through my fingers the quickest.

I also chose Dew Drops Baby Bee yarn in Lots of Dots  for the first afghan.  Here's a close-up of the yarn:

I should have a good start on the first afghan by next week.

New video tomorrow for Friday Freebie.

WOYWW #580

Good morning, everyone!

Here's my desk as left yesterday.

From left to right, you can just see the base of my fan. No air circulation in that corner. I have AC in the office but just doesn't circulate to that corner... maybe if there wasn't so much stuff in front of me. LOL Like working in a bunker during the summer

Below that, my paper trimmers and punch boards. They are resting in a file folder holder like this one:

Next are items left from my cardmaking project. That card will be on the blog Sunday if you want to come back for a peek. I'm featuring one of the new sunflower stamp sets from Stampin' Up!. next are my new catalogs - both the All Occasion and the new mini. I got my first order from the mini in yesterday so I'll mark them in the catalog before clearing this stuff away. Then there's my stamp shammy. I didn't care for it at first but it's growing on me. So much easier to get out to use than my old stamp scrubber with the broken hinge, and blocks to be put away.

To the far right is my One Book July planner. along with the stamps and inks. I need to make some notations in the planner today or tomorrow. We'll see what I accomplish once this sinus headache goes away.

Dealing with a bit of a Zquil hangover (took it way too late last night - before I realized the time. Oops!) and a sinus headache right in the eyes. We'll see how productive I can be today.

That's it for my desk (and story) this week. Who's Miss Julia and why am I here?  When you are done visiting me in the Ozarks, please hop on over to Stamping Ground  for all the details. Miss Julia has a long list of other studios you can peek into. No standing on an up-turned milk pail to look in the window. We open the doors wide and welcome you.  Please leave your number and you'll be among the first on my list.
