MAKE-UP MONDAY

 Hi everyone!

Last week was just nuts! When I got home I found out Bob had been streaming MeTV on our dish network and took me down to about 17% of my data. I was getting up before daylight to upload the tag video but then had to shut the internet down to get me through until the data reloaded Saturday night at midnight.

I'm back to full capacity and playing make-up. So photo-heavy. Are you ready?

MIXED MEDIA MONDAY - Junk Journal Junkies

 Hi everyone!

Sorry this is posting late. I leave for a six-day writing retreat/ conference on Wednesday. Bob has company coming down from IA on Wednesday. So I'm trying to position my stuff from the bedroom back to the office so we can get my roll top desk out of the dining room. 

Of course, it's like getting new carpet then realizing the furniture doesn't go with it... and the remodel continues. 

That's kind of where I'm at today. I can move stuff back in, but I'm cleaning first. Of course, the computer desk is cleaned off but I'm positive I have tons of Asian beetles behind that behemoth piece of furniture, so I need to pull out the drawers, move the dresser, vacuum then put stuff back. LOL It's a thing.

But first, I need a bit of a break. 

I'm joining in with Yvonne Preston and ArtyMaze over at Junk Journal Junkies on FB. I joined last month but only got one small tag made. You'll understand why when you watch the video below.

MIXED MEDIA MONDAY - Challenge Pieces

 Good morning, friends!

I'm getting ready to head out to the garden but wanted to get this post up.

I completed a couple of challenges last week so thought I'd show you what I've been making. I'll drop in the video at the end that talks about them a bit more.

For Cara Brandon's May Mini's I got all three challenges done. We were to do ATC coins, Page Tabs and Specimen slides. My page tabs and slides will work beautifully with my June journal challenge.

MIXED MEDIA MONDAY - Coffee & Avocados

 

Good afternoon, everyone!

I've been a bit busy today. I started dying papers - first avocado then coffee - at 4:30 this morning. I pulled the last tray out of the oven at 3 p.m. 

The stack in the top left isn't part of the process... those are book pages I'll be using for another challenge on Youtube.

The paper dying started as a result of the video below. I saw the hashtag #cwplanner and zoomed in like a bird on prey LOL. 

I didn't get her pre-printed planner but I did go to her ETSY shop and purchased the downloads. Looking at them, I knew I wanted to do them on coffee-dyed papers. So there you have my project today.

MIXED MEDIA MONDAY - Napkin Elements

MIXED MEDIA MONDAY - Craft With Me #JJJJC20

Happy Monday, everyone!

Bob left on Friday and I've had trouble picking up and getting moving. If determination is anything, I will knock a lot out this week. 

I'm also taking part in One Book July- where we focus on using just 1 planner.... back to basics. For mine, I've set up a Slim Classic Happy Planner as my new editorial calendar for the 3rd quarter. I've mapped out all of the blog posts for the next three months. Now to implement.

For Mixed Media Monday, I've made the first of eleven elements for Julie's July Just Junk Journal Challenge. We were to make an envelope and an insert from calendar pages. As you'll hear in the video, I struggled with this one at first. Then one of our team mates, Marcy Davis, gave me an idea. I link her channel in the video description box.

Short post today if I'm to get into a groove.  I hope you enjoy the video and are inspired to play with junk!

MIXED MEDIA MONDAY -Challenge

Yep, quite aware this is Tuesday and I should be posting a Card Chicks card. Check back tomorrow for those as part of my WOYWW post.

With Bob home only a little over a week this time I'm just not motivated to work. Plenty of time for catch-up once he goes back out a week from today. With that in mind, I didn't record a video over the weekend for yesterday. Instead, I recorded on Monday and can share with you today.

I'm in the middle of the June Just 15 Junk Journal Challenge with dearjuliejulie. As I was cruising YouTube over the weekend for new crafty videos I found THIS one from 49dragonflies and was instantly intriqued. Since I plan to write in my June journal a lot I thought this writing board challenge would make for a great video with a practical piece as a result.

I hope amid all the stuff going on in the world you are making time to be creative and destress.

MIXED MEDIA MONDAY - Tool Cart Part 2

Still showing the before shot of the Tool Cart. However, if you watch the video below you'll see progress is being made and I should finish this task today.

I didn't accomplish much in the office last week because we had perfect gardening weather. I've been busy getting plants (and seeds) in the ground and bales. Mama Wren has abandoned her nest so I can work in the greenhouse freely. I have the last of the tomato plants to put in the ground tomorrow morning and sunflower seeds. Those flowers come up pretty quick so I should still have some beautiful fall color and food for winter birds. 

Not sure about posts the rest of the week. Bob will be home Wednesday night and I still have lots to do. I have an editorial calendar for my blogs and they'll be activated soon. I just need to finish this major project first.

MIXED MEDIA MONDAY - Ephemera Folio Flip-Through

They are done!  All fourteen.  The Paperdolls took several pages and the longest to figure out.

As I put this one together, I did come up with a few tips.

My project for FRIDAY FREEBIE is to show my art tool cart completely redone. This is the cart as it looks now and where I want to keep my folios and I'm hoping my punches (at least the most often used ones)

The cart started out as tools on top, paper items on the second then Etsy paperwork on the bottom. I've since bought a cart specifically for Etsy and this became a catch-all. Time to get it cleaned up and useable.

I'm anxious to have the studio in place and being able to show actual Mixed Media projects on Monday again.

MIXED MEDIA MONDAY - Ephemera Storage

Good morning, everyone!

Welcome to June 1, 2020.
Are you like me in finding it hard to believe we are almsot half-way through the year?

Bob will be home a week from this Wednesday. I still haven't finished the studio. Where have the past two weeks gone?

Well, Week 1 - not sure except Friday mail arrived, leading me in to...

Week 2 - Memorial Day was a YouTube binge day for me. The postmail on Friday had me antsy to get through the holiday so I could begin making phone calls.

The postmail? I received a letter denying me unemployment benefits.
But here's the thing... I NEVER filed for unemployment.

I spent three hours on hold every day the rest of the week trying to get through to Unemployment.
I found out from one gal in dearjuliejulie's group that also (as well as several others here in MO) received the same letter. She was able to get hold of UE on Friday and was told to send them a copy of the letter.
I got mine after hours on Friday so I guess by the time I was trying to get through on the phone last week, TONS of people had received the same letter and they were overwhelmed.

Now, I hear some of you saying this was probably a scam letter. Sadly, it wasn't. The letter contained my social security number. Lovely!

So now I'm on the hunt for a reliable security form (like Lifelock) to protect my identity and creating a protection spell. If you have experience with security forms, I'd love to hear your opinion.

In the mean time, as I stated, Bob will be home a week from Wednesday. My plan is to have the studio completed a week from tomorrow. Then I can use Wednesday for general touch-up around the house and not be exhausted when Bob walks through the door.

Here is my Mixed Media cubby. About 97% of the content is Tim Holtz. Though the drawers are large items such as sheets of tissue paper, packaging paper, foam core, chip board, etc. My overall goal here was to be able to get to the little drawer units without having to move a ton of stuff out of the way first.

Part of the items that came off this shelf is at least three more of those small drawer units that were full of ephemera. You'll see in the video (linked below) why I've changed the storage process.

I'm still finishing up the Ephemera Folios. If you've not seen my process, check out my video HERE from Friday Freebie. I started with each drawer, which was sorted according to Tim's packaging labels and a diagram of how my page layouts would be.

This shows how I sorted the entire Halloween pack in prep for planning out my pockets:

This shows the Christmas ephemera all sorted to a page layout so that I knew how many pockets I would need, thus how many pages I'd need:

Next week, I'll have the final flip-through of the Ephemera Folios. I will tell you, I should have about fifteen once completed. They won't store on the Mixed Media cubby. Instead, I'll be able to keep them next to my work table, accesible as I work on projects. 

Speaking of my work table, there will NOT be a card video tomorrow. I still don't have a work table. I'm not pulling anyything else out until these ephemera folios are finished.

I did not do the May Mayhem Junk Journal Challenge. Today, Julie releases the info for the June Challenge. We shall see....

MIXED MEDIA MONDAY - #Patternsofspring Challenge

Last week, while watching a video by April @PinkOddBird she showed us a set of tags she was making to enter into a challenge.

MIXED MEDIA MONDAY - In Progress & EXCITING NEWS!

Good morning, everyone!
I hope that in spite of the lock down, you all found something to enjoy for Easter. While things were definitely not normal, there were still plenty of blessings in each of our lives. Focus on the Positive!

My positive today is all about the junk journal stuff. things I have in progress and some exciting news to share... later. ;-)

First off, a few pictures.

This first one is a book page, folded into thirds. This works great as a belly band or a side-tuck on a journal page.

 Here it is, open, with the notebook paper glued to the inside for journaling:

Next, making a pleated ruffle with book paper is easy. I've made mine from the blank border on either side of a printed page, gluing lengths together.

Once the pleats are made by gluing them into place, flip them over and attach colored paper scraps. This will be one of several 10-minute tutorial videos beginning next week on my channel.

For the mini challenge due today on Dearjuliejulie's AlphabetA2Z Junk Journal Challenge, we are to make a coin envelope as well as a bank envelope plus embellish them and add things to the pockets. A bank envelope has two pockets and the coine only has one.

I've made these coin envelope pockets from book pages. I just need to embellish - Today LOL

Here's a bank envelope I have on hand. I haven't chosen the paper yet to make mine from.

Finally, here's my work table today. I want to finish adding my personal touches to the sewing journal today then I can clear everything off so I can start fresh. We're already two weeks in to the A2Z Challenge!

Now for my Exciting News!

I've been helping to moderate Dearjuliejulie's YouTube live streams for a couple of weeks. During our Saturday gathering, Julie announced that I am now a member of the Dearjuliejulie Design Team!

I'm super excited. She creates some of the most beautiful digitals for her Etsy shop.  Right now, all of her digitals are 50% off so we can craft til our little hearts content.

MIXED MEDIA MONDAY! - Finished Journal - almost

Good morning, everyone!

Effective at 12:01 a.m. this morning, Missouri went on a Stay At Home Order. I was out and about all day yesterday making sure I had bills mailed/ dropped off and any last minute things we might need at home for the next 30 days. I still don't know if Bob is going to work tomorrow or not. He still needs to call the office.

Our bandwidth is REALLY slow but I'm still trying to get videos up. Today, I have a short one -less than 10 minutes of the March Spring Stashbuster Junk Journal Challenge - BONUS journal.

The only thing I need to do with this journal is to add a bead dangle on the edge of each of the three signatures. I've not checked my stash yet but my plan is to make a dangle from a black, burgandy and cream bead. When the dangles are in place, this journal is going into my etsy shop for $25.  That will happen before April 15th.

MIXED MEDIA MONDAY - So Many Projects

Good morning, everyone!

Wow, this has been a busy weekend in the craft room and I'm no where near finished with projects. Today is all abut quick picks of what I'm working on.

First, the BONUS challenge at Dearjuliejulie as part of the MAIN challenge was to create one or more journals from a single 12x12, 8x8 or 6x6 paper pad.

I've had the signatures in for several days but I spent the weekend adding tags, distressing... and now I find I want to add buttons - a tactile element so I need to finish that today. Deadline is tomorrow.

I chose this pad from Prima called PRINTERY. I loved the mix of cream/ white/ black and the overall elements. There were three sheets of each design. I did wind up breaking into a second pad (one of the few I had a duplicate of!) to finish tag bases. You'll see all the details in a video flip-through on Friday. I brought in Cherry Cobbler and Basic Black cardstock for accents and used file folder tag bases from my stash.

This is the front with the lace tie in place. I'm still planning to add buttons to the top right corner.

Next, there's the sewing journal I still need to DO by midnight tomorrow. I haven't started yet because I kept going back and forth on what I actually wanted to use for the main challenge.

I finally settled on the remains of a paper pack from Stampin' Up! called Suite Stitches.  This paper came out in the Occasions catalog in 2011. Since I have very few pages left, I've pulled from other paper pads in my stash to coordinate:

Working through the Bonus mini, I found a process that works for me so I'm hoping this March journal comes together quickly.

Finally, I am still working on the March challenge for April at Pink Odd Bird. I have all the elements together, just need to fine-tune and put stuff together. Hoping to have this one finished by the weekend. The plus side is that we don't have to have this one FINISHED in March so I can stretch just a bit.

Here are the four signatures. All the items are in order of how I want them within each signature. I just need to stitch around the large business envelopes, which will also secure corner tucks into place. I hope to run this video on Friday.  A note about that later.

Here are the tags for all of the pockets/ tucks. The great big tags in the background will go in the large business- sized privacy envelopes. TONS of journaling space. The purple tags will go in the medium tucks then I have the smaller tags to go in the tea bag pockets and other small places. 

My smart and creative husband suggested I stamp on the tags so that's what I did while moderating Dearjuliejulie's Beginner Journaling class last week. 

You can watch the video series beginning HERE   If you join her Scrap All About It with Dearjuliejulie Facebook group, she has given participants a 23 digi file to use in the class or you can just create from what you have.  I plan to use her digital kit for this class soon. Probably not until June after Book 2 - An Ozarks Sodliers' Homecoming is released.

Finally, April is my  month to host the Card Chicks group. I have my kit almost ready to mail. I just need to finish stamping images and make the envelopes to pop everything in to.  I chose a stamp/ embossing set from the January 2018 or 2019 issue of Cardmaking & Papercraft magazine.

Look for pics of my complete kit and cards around the 21st of April when we can post them to the group on Splitcoast Stampers.

A NOTE REGARDING VIDEOS

My internet has gotten increasingly slow. Uploading videos takes forever. I don't know when this will return to some sort of normal. I'll be keeping a closer eye on my data beginning in April and hope that things improve. My data allowance rolls over on the 5th of each month. 

Until this is remedied, any videos I upload will be very brief and only if I can get them uploaded before 8 a.m. when I have my 'free' window. 

We are on the final 2 days of National Craft Month.. let's send it off with TONS of CREATIVITY!

Good morning, everyone!

Busy weekend behind me. My sister came up and we crafted all weekend. Now I'm back to work - with only three days to get as much done as possible before Bob gets home Wednesday evening.

I finally have the kit put together for the March Spring Stashbuster Junk Journal Challenge from dearjuliejulie.

Speaking of dearjuliejulie. If you like working with digital kits, ALL of her kits are on sale through tomorrow (March 17, 2020)  Here's the LINK to her store. She is so precise with her digitals. They print beautifully! If you ever have a question about something, she monitors her store well.

I've not moved any farther on PinkOddBird's junk journal. I was too focused on seeing what I could finish up in the way of sorting out the office before my sister arrived last Wednesday afternoon for our crafting weekend.

I am going to work on the office a bit more tomorrow. Today is all about blog posts for the week, then vegging with the TV early this afternoon. Perfect for a cold and rainy start to our week.

MIXED MEDIA MONDAY - Water Water Everywhere!

Good morning

As I try to finish up the office project I realized that while I didn't do a project for last Monday, I actually got it filmed on Tuesday... then failed to post it here.

I managed to flood the basement last night - don't ask. LOL So that HAS to be my focus today.

My sister is due here on Wednesday and the studio isn't put back together. I probably won't make much progress today as I get the basement dried out.

With that in mind, here is the information and  video you should have had last week!

I've joined April aka Pink Odd Bird for her March challenge. I have a specific reason for joining the challenge aside from the fact I've wanted to do a project with her for almost a year. While this might not have been the perfect time, I'm joining anyway LOL

MIXED MEDIA MONDAY - The Paper Outpost

Good morning, everyone!

Way too early to be awake. I can't seem to sleep past 4 a.m. these days.
I set this video up to clipchamp last night before I went to bed around 8. The compacting process took until 4:30 this morning! Almost an hour later to YouTube I finally have a video. While this one is only just over 45 minutes long, my goal is to try and keep them under 30 minutes from now on.. both for my processing and your your viewing time.

Today's video was inspired by the second January challenge from The Paper Outpost FB group. I'm only a few challenges behind lol I really liked doing this challenge. There is so much you can do with a junk mail envelope.

Happy Monday, everyone!
I know, you've seen this cover before. LOL Incidently, the cover is also upside down. What you see is actually the back cover - in reverse. Been one of those weeks and always is when I'm expecting Bob home. I promise to show a right side up version on the flip through.

Today's video is a bit about the journals I hope to 'finish' this month though with Bob home until the 25th and all the stuff we have to get done, I'm betting not a lot gets accomplished on any of them until after he leaves.

MIXED MEDIA MONDAY - What's inside my #JJJC2 kit?

Good morning, friends!

Wow... I've missed you guys.
I've been doing a serious deep cleaning/ reorganizing of the studio. I know, seems to be a never-ending process but for good reason this time.

Since I've made the decisioin to revert back to a Hobby Dem with Stampin' Up! I don't need 'current' supplies at hand. My main purpose in the decision was for me to get back to playing with ALL of my toys without worrying about whether or not they were currently available or new.

My main goal is to get everything off of the big work table so that I have that surface available for big projects. Things like my granddaughters' quilts, constructing junk journals or packing Etsy orders.

I've nearly cleared the surface. I have a few more small things to integrate into the general populace today and possibly tomorrow then the work table is DONE!

Okay.. what about today's post?
Well, this post kicks off my second year as a member of Dearjuliejulie's junk journal challenges. I began watching her last January but didn't begin playing until February. That creative woman opened up the Pandora's Box of junk journaling for me. I've always wanted to do junk journals just didn't know how to start. Now I don't know if I can stop! LOL

Today's video shows you some of the items in my kit for the #JJJC2.

A quick note - my YouTube channel isn't just about junk journals. I'm covering a wide scope of all the things I like to dip my fingers in to. I think there will be something for just about every creative avenue you may be living on.
