MIXED MEDIA MONDAY - So Many Projects

Good morning, everyone!

Wow, this has been a busy weekend in the craft room and I'm no where near finished with projects. Today is all abut quick picks of what I'm working on.

First, the BONUS challenge at Dearjuliejulie as part of the MAIN challenge was to create one or more journals from a single 12x12, 8x8 or 6x6 paper pad.

I've had the signatures in for several days but I spent the weekend adding tags, distressing... and now I find I want to add buttons - a tactile element so I need to finish that today. Deadline is tomorrow.

I chose this pad from Prima called PRINTERY. I loved the mix of cream/ white/ black and the overall elements. There were three sheets of each design. I did wind up breaking into a second pad (one of the few I had a duplicate of!) to finish tag bases. You'll see all the details in a video flip-through on Friday. I brought in Cherry Cobbler and Basic Black cardstock for accents and used file folder tag bases from my stash.

This is the front with the lace tie in place. I'm still planning to add buttons to the top right corner.

Next, there's the sewing journal I still need to DO by midnight tomorrow. I haven't started yet because I kept going back and forth on what I actually wanted to use for the main challenge.

I finally settled on the remains of a paper pack from Stampin' Up! called Suite Stitches.  This paper came out in the Occasions catalog in 2011. Since I have very few pages left, I've pulled from other paper pads in my stash to coordinate:

Working through the Bonus mini, I found a process that works for me so I'm hoping this March journal comes together quickly.

Finally, I am still working on the March challenge for April at Pink Odd Bird. I have all the elements together, just need to fine-tune and put stuff together. Hoping to have this one finished by the weekend. The plus side is that we don't have to have this one FINISHED in March so I can stretch just a bit.

Here are the four signatures. All the items are in order of how I want them within each signature. I just need to stitch around the large business envelopes, which will also secure corner tucks into place. I hope to run this video on Friday.  A note about that later.

Here are the tags for all of the pockets/ tucks. The great big tags in the background will go in the large business- sized privacy envelopes. TONS of journaling space. The purple tags will go in the medium tucks then I have the smaller tags to go in the tea bag pockets and other small places.

My smart and creative husband suggested I stamp on the tags so that's what I did while moderating Dearjuliejulie's Beginner Journaling class last week.

You can watch the video series beginning HERE   If you join her Scrap All About It with Dearjuliejulie Facebook group, she has given participants a 23 digi file to use in the class or you can just create from what you have.  I plan to use her digital kit for this class soon. Probably not until June after Book 2 - An Ozarks Sodliers' Homecoming is released.

Finally, April is my  month to host the Card Chicks group. I have my kit almost ready to mail. I just need to finish stamping images and make the envelopes to pop everything in to.  I chose a stamp/ embossing set from the January 2018 or 2019 issue of Cardmaking & Papercraft magazine.

Look for pics of my complete kit and cards around the 21st of April when we can post them to the group on Splitcoast Stampers.

A NOTE REGARDING VIDEOS
My internet has gotten increasingly slow. Uploading videos takes forever. I don't know when this will return to some sort of normal. I'll be keeping a closer eye on my data beginning in April and hope that things improve. My data allowance rolls over on the 5th of each month.

Until this is remedied, any videos I upload will be very brief and only if I can get them uploaded before 8 a.m. when I have my 'free' window.

We are on the final 2 days of National Craft Month.. let's send it off with TONS of CREATIVITY!

REINDEER CLUB - March

A couple of days late but we have 8 months til Thanksgiving...
which means, I want to have all of the Christmas cards ready to mail and the many UFO's finished up.

First off, here are my Christmas cards for this month. I'm shy of the number I need to be doing but seems like I'm still playing catch up. Hopefully, next month I can get the numbers up to the forty I need to have done by April. Goddess knows I have enough Christmas paper and stamps to do that ten times over.  LOL

Here is the video so you can see how these cards came together and what products I used. Watch to the end of the video to see what project I'll be work on over the next couple of weeks. I need Bob's assistance on the base and he needs a project.

So far we've both done well with the sheltering in place. We've only been to town twice since he came home a week ago. I've gone once without him. There was a planner at HL I just had to have.

As of today, there are 4 days left of National Craft Month. Dig through your UFO's or do a few Christmas cards.

What will be your April Reindeer Club project?

Creative Christmas Blessings!

WOYWW 564 - A bit of Everything

Good morning, everyone!

Been a busy few hours around here. With everyone going into lock-down, trying to make sure we have everything we need just in case we join the foray, then yesterday with no internet thanks to rain most of the day....

Well, I'm a bit behind on a couple of things.

1 - Reindeer Club will post TOMORROW -3/26

2 - My desk for this week. I actually have 2 spots.

My desk yesterday. With no internet most of the day, I didn't even boot up the computer at all. Rain fell most of the day. By later afternoon I decided we'd make the quick run to town then I wouldn't have to leave the house today. The most productive part of the day was playing cards with Bob on and off all day.

Though I did get in some crafting. My ironing board mat is covered with an old flannel-backed table cloth. I used the space for spraying envelopes with Tattered Angels (See video on Monday's post HERE):

I got 21 tags painted for my March POB journal with April aka Pink Odd Bird. The tags were all cut using the 2nd largest die from Tim Holtz tags die set. I cut them from BelVita cookie boxes. I have a white side for journaling then painted the printed side with a Folk Art Metallic Purple.

3 - Finally, you guys heard of my story about meeting up with transport drivers last week. Here is Sonny (my right) and Miquel (my left)

I bought them lunch at McDonalds in the truck stop (To Go orders only) then we stood in the parking lot and visited through most of their 30 minute stop that wasn't supposed to happen LOL

And here's a bit of info for you. Never mess with a military transport load.
At some point over the weekend, an auto driver passed Sonny and gave him the finger, after which he proceeded to pull over in front of Sonny and hit his breaks. Mind you, Sonny's load was over 225,000 pounds he had to control or run over the guy! The after-effects would not have been pretty.
Sonny barely had his radio hung up from informing his escort than the auto driver was pulled over, removed from his car, put on the ground and hand-cuffed. You don't mess with the military.

That's it for my desk (and story) this week. Who's Miss Julia and why am I here?  When you are done visiting me in the Ozarks, please hop on over to Stamping Ground  for all the details. Miss Julia has a long list of other studios you can peek into. No standing on an up-turned milk pail to look in the window. We open the doors wide and welcome you.  Please leave your number and you'll be among the first on my list.

CARD CHICKS - March

Here is my first card from this month's card kit courtesy of Sue Brandon. Due to some changes within our group, Sue was to be our May hostess but jumped right in and sent her kit out ahead of schedule.

I love house mouse stamps and this one is adorable! This one I got the colors of the falling petals correct.  The next one however....

When I started coloring, I saw rain drops, not petals LOL But I do like the pop of blue.

Sue provided us with the image and sentiments - She Loves Me (House Mouse)
Garden Lane DSP from SU as well as Mossy Meadow and Mint Macaron. I added Garden Green and Old Olive.

She stamped the image in Memento Black on White.
I colored everything using Stampin' Blends
Bronze, Ivory, Lt. Soft Suede, Dk Balmy Blue, Dk. Mango, Dk. Daffodil Delight, Lt. Night of Navy, Lt Old Olive, Lt. Granny Green.

I used Stitched Framelits (largest circle) to cut out the image. I also used Layering Ovals Sm 1 7 2 for the sentiment on the first card.

Sue provided us with Ribbon (I didn't use), sequins and brads. I colored the brads using Mango Melody on the first card.

I was inspired by two sketches. One was Paper Craft Crew Sketch #18 and TSSC168 (modified).

Tomorrow is WOYWW and Reindeer Club. I'll have cards to share and what my next Christmas project will be. I hope you'll come join us!

MIXED MEDIA MONDAY - Tattered Angels

Good morning, friends!

I hope you're taking this interesting time to get out your toys and be creative.

I've been really excited to play in the junk journal challenge with April aka PinkOddBird.
In week 2 (?) April got out the paints. Hers is turning into more of a glue book than a journal - and that is perfectly OK. Everyone's journal will be unique to the artist.

I didn't think I'd want to add paint to mine but the more I thought about all the white space of the big business envelopes I decided I did, but how? I didn't want the splashes of bold paint. Then I had an idea!

tattered angels paints

I used three or four colors from my collection plus added a couple of acrylic paint mists I had made. (hint: I show you how in the video)

Let's Play!

WOYWW #563

A bit of a mess with the remains of the crafting weekend with my sissy. She left Monday and I slept most of the day. Yesterday was errand day, seeing what might still be available on the store shelves. In prepping for her visit, I didn't play last week. I knew I wouldn't have time to get 'round to visit.

You will see the three most important things. Belvita cookies to the left, coffee up above the mouse on the right and planner in the bottom right.

Bob is on his way home today. We are on Weather Alert for tomorrow with potentially hazardous weather conditions so he's trying to drive straight through on little sleep. I should know around 10:30 if he is stopping for the night.

My daughter has her own company. She gets military transport vehicles on the road, maps out their routes, makes sure all of their paper work is in order. One thing all of her drivers ask for is to be routed close to 'home'.. aka her mom's house. They take their madatory 30 minutes stop, I buy them lunch and hand them a tin of fresh baked cookies for the road.  I have two coming through this afternoon so chocolate chip cookies will be baked and I won't get anything done for a block of about 4 hours this afternoon. Longer if the drivers are not close together as the closest 'stop' for them is about 35 min from the house.

All of her drivers have 'hidden' escorts. A military escort ahead of the load and one bringing up the rear. They are 'hidden' because they are unmarked military vehicles. We are not to know which ones they are. She doesn't even know. Last week I met one of her drivers and picked them both out but never let on I'd seen them.

About an hour after her driver got back on the road, she texted me. The 'hidden' military captain in the lead car wanted to know 'where in the hell are my cookies?' LOL I relayed back that it's hard for me to give him cookies if I'm not even supposed to know which car he is in! LOL silly man.

One quick reminder.. next Wednesday is Reindeer Club! I hope you'll stop by. I also hope you've joined the club.

That's it for my desk this week. Who's Miss Julia and why am I here?  When you are done visiting me in the Ozarks, please hop on over to Stamping Ground  for all the details. MIXED MEDIA MONDAY! #MSSBJJC

Good morning, everyone!

Busy weekend behind me. My sister came up and we crafted all weekend. Now I'm back to work - with only three days to get as much done as possible before Bob gets home Wednesday evening.

I finally have the kit put together for the March Spring Stashbuster Junk Journal Challenge from dearjuliejulie.

Speaking of dearjuliejulie. If you like working with digital kits, ALL of her kits are on sale through tomorrow (March 17, 2020)  Here's the LINK to her store. She is so precise with her digitals. They print beautifully! If you ever have a question about something, she monitors her store well.

I've not moved any farther on PinkOddBird's junk journal. I was too focused on seeing what I could finish up in the way of sorting out the office before my sister arrived last Wednesday afternoon for our crafting weekend.

I am going to work on the office a bit more tomorrow. Today is all about blog posts for the week, then vegging with the TV early this afternoon. Perfect for a cold and rainy start to our week.

Here's the video of my kit gatherings for teh March challenge with dearjuliejulie:

Teapot Tuesday card returns tomorrow. I've missed playing with the group and spreading happy.

MIXED MEDIA MONDAY - Water Water Everywhere!

Good morning

As I try to finish up the office project I realized that while I didn't do a project for last Monday, I actually got it filmed on Tuesday... then failed to post it here.

I managed to flood the basement last night - don't ask. LOL So that HAS to be my focus today.

My sister is due here on Wednesday and the studio isn't put back together. I probably won't make much progress today as I get the basement dried out.

With that in mind, here is the information and  video you should have had last week!

I've joined April aka Pink Odd Bird for her March challenge. I have a specific reason for joining the challenge aside from the fact I've wanted to do a project with her for almost a year. While this might not have been the perfect time, I'm joining anyway LOL

Here's the video from last week:

WOYWW # 561

I can sympathize with Mis Julia. For the past few weeks my focus has been on getting this room dug out that Wednesday has nearly come and gone before I remembered.  I'm trying to get better but this room has to be a priority.

My sister will be here next week.. arriving on Wednesday. So I'm trying to get all of my stuff done and the studio in order so I can just play the entire five days of her visit. We're looking forward to the quiet time.

My desk is in a bit of disarray as I have two junk journals started for challenges this month plus final details on another of my Finish It February journals. All of this will be cleared by the weekend as I intend to shampoo the office before moving stuff back in on Monday.. into their proper places. Next week's picture BETTER be very different from this week. ;-)

That's it for my desk this week. Who's Miss Julia and why am I here?  When you are done visiting me in the Ozarks, please hop on over to Stamping Ground  for all the details.
