Good morning and happy Hump Day!
But more importantly, it's WOYWW! If you don't know what I'm talking about, Ms Julia Dunnit hooks up people from all over the world to share peeks into our work areas. To find out more about this fun travel around the world check out Stamping Ground for all the details.
I've not played in a couple weeks. I've been on the go seemingly forever. When I have been home and able to do some creating, I've cleaned up after the project so I didn't have to waste precious time cleaning up before playing.
Yesterday I was able to make the TeaPot Tuesday card. I also glued the turned-in edges of the cover on the recycled book box. Behind the book box you'll see a black album. I won that 8x8 album in a silent auction a couple weeks ago. Next to that is a stack of books. These are a result of a treasure find while I was in Peoria IL a couple weeks ago.
I love home improvement stores so while I was up north I took advantage of a stop at Menards. We don't have one near us since we moved to southern MO. However Bob can still access one in Bollingbrook when he drives up to Chicago where he works as a river boat Captain. I was on the hunt for some things I wanted him to possibly pick up when he went back to work.
On a drive isle ( an outer isle within the store) I found a box bin full of books for $6 each. Aside from the usual hardbook fiction the box was loaded with scrapbook and card making books. $19.95-$24.95 books from Creating Keepsakes and Making Memories rang up for $5.97! I picked up five or six. I bought two copies of one book - one for me and one for Friday Freebie coming up soon.
Speaking of Friday Freebie, you'll want to check back this week if you want organization ideas because one of the books I found is chock full of ideas for your crafting space... and will be FREE to one lucky person on Friday.

I love how neat and tidy your desk is and I love all your storage at the back of your desk. Sounds like you got some great books at great prices
ReplyDeleteHappy WOYWW #203 and thank you for sharing your desk with us today
Ria #60
HI Ria!
DeleteThanks for dropping in. I've held off showing my storage to the back as I'm hoping to work it into a magazine article soon.
Wow, bargain books! How great, well spotted! I'm kinda taken with the thought of being married to a river boat captain too....that is not a profession you hear a lot about, for sure.
ReplyDeleteBeing married to a river boat captain is like being married to a long-haul truck driver... not for the co-dependent. LOL Bob is gone three weeks and home three weeks. He's worked on the river for over 30 years... making his way from deckhand to Captain.
DeleteLove your desk, what is in the white pots? Am so nosey!!
ReplyDeleteKaren #64
LOL Be nosey all you want, sweetie. If you're talking about that row of white 'pots' in the background on top of the drawer unit - those are 2.5" pieces of 1.25" PVC pipe to hold my stickles bottles upside down. I can see the colors, the stickles stays in the tip and they are lined up ready for use.
DeleteI love your organization on your desk! I'm glad Karen asked what was in the Stickles holder, because I was wondering the same thing until I read your answer.
ReplyDeleteGreat buy on the books, it's not often you find deals like that!
Thanks so much for your visit, Kathi #110
And who'd think you'd find them in a home improvement store! But then Menards did sell Cricuts for awhile too.
DeleteOh man, I miss Menards too. We just moved from Illinois, and I loved that store!
ReplyDeleteYeah, it took some getting use to. We bought most of our remodeling items at menards and trucked them down here. Mostly unfinished cabinets... which we put in 3 rooms of the new house... because it was more cost efficient. Where did you move to?
DeleteBeing married to a river boat captain sounds really romantic, but as in your reply to Julia, it is more mundane than that. I had images of you dressed up like a Victorian damsel waving him off as he strides manfully towards the distant river...oops, maybe that's my fantasy rather than than yours!!! lol
ReplyDeleteGreat book bargains! I'm a sucker for them too :)
Hugs, LLJ 22 xx
You read too many historical romance novels LOL But I do make him promise to come home safe and in one piece. And I refuse to watch him pull out of the driveway. His smiling face cupped in my hands is the vision I want to hold onto for 3 weeks. HOw's that for romantic... after almost 30 years!
Deleteah! don't we all love a bargain - or six :) great desk pic and thanks for stopping by and leaving a lovely comment :)
ReplyDeletehappy WOYWW and have a great week!
no 1
thanks for returning the love, Claire!
DeleteGorgeous crafting space, and so neat too!! Looking forward to seeing what you make from your new books. Bargains are great! Happy WOYWW! Karen 129 x
ReplyDeleteHey Karen! Thanks for popping in. I'm really focused the next 3 weeks on getting some projects pulled together. So stay tuned!
DeleteI'm married to a boiler maker .....sounds uninspiring but he comes home with some fantastic stories about all the site he has been on and the people he meets. The downside is he sometimes stinks of rust and can be filthy.
ReplyDeleteLove all your creations, I've just had a whizz through your blog
Lynn //67
Glad you whizzed through Lynn :-) Come back when you can stay longer Hugs!
DeleteOh your desk is right up my street with my need to be ever tidy and ordered. What a bargain with the books too. Love the idea that your man Bob is a River Boat Captain,. Thanks for stopping by my blog x
ReplyDeleteHappy WOYWW
Karen #134
Hi Karen. Yep, I'm pretty proud of my Captain. I laugh when I get those recorded messages for cruise pitches that say 'this is your captain speaking' I'm like... no - it's not! LOL
DeleteYes, I've discovered I have a bit of OCD tendancies. Or at least now they have a label LOL
I love finding a sale on crafting books, there are always great inspiration inside! Great finds, I'm glad you manged to fit in some crafty shopping wheile you are on the go! Happy {late} WOYWW! Lindsay #85
ReplyDeleteI didn't need to spend the money. Didn't help Michaels had $1 day sales going on while I was up there. LOL At least I took money specifically for craft shopping
DeleteI thought I left a message on here before and now checking it isn't here, I think I have been eating to much sugar.....
ReplyDeleteI am always hanging out at the home improvement shop and trying to find something that can be used in my craft endevours. Looks like you have a good haul with those books, I like good stories like this one. Wow a river boat captain, sounds like fun, what a man.
Happy WOYWW
Eliza & Yoda 102
Hey Eliza and Yoda. I love cruising for textures to use in my art journals or on cards. Craft books is not something you expect LOL
DeleteHi Kelly, thanks for visiting my blog. I've never been to a Menard's, but it sounds like a great store. Been thinking about reorganizing my scrap room (I think I do this every year!) so I'll be back to check out that book!:)
ReplyDeleteHi Kathy. My pleasure to visit your space. I think Menards was around before Lowes and Home Depot. Except for the fact I often know more about the product than some of their employees, it's still my favorite HI store to shop.
DeleteI look forward to you coming back for a shot at the book! That's tomorrow!
I love your little drawers with the blenders etc on top, so well organised! Have a great week.
ReplyDeletethose little drawers were a true 'find'. What you're looking at as blenders is actually my stickles holder. ;-)
DeleteYour desk is so well organized! I see goodies that have pricked my curiosity... drawers, little white things... hmmm... Thanks for visiting and happy belated WOYWW!!
ReplyDeleteCarol N #104
Hi Carol! I HAVE to be organized because I am soooo busy. Have any questions, just ask. :-)
DeleteWow, I love your desk setup. Thanks for swinging by my desk, LOL. Hope you have a great weekend filled with lots of creative time!
ReplyDeleteI had a great weekend, Lynette. One project down and a gazillion more to go. But without internet service for almost 3 full days- I could really focus.
DeleteCongrats on the book bargains! Sounds like you had time to move a few projects forward . . . sometimes in a busy week that's all you can hope for! Happy WOYWW, very belatedly. ~ Laura #95 (thanks for the visit)
ReplyDeletehi Laura! Glad you stopped in. Better late than not at all ;-)
DeleteHow brilliant was that, finding all those bargain books - I really find it hard to resist craft books, even better when they are going for a song :) And like Julia, I can't help thinking that being married to a river boat captain sounds so romantic ... all Mark Twain and steam boats ... wake me up someone :) Elizabeth xx
ReplyDeleteWow brilliant find and lots of lovely crafty bits to look at in those tubs at the back. Happy woyww :-) Kezzy xxx
ReplyDeleteOhooo Lovely! is all I can say!! Now, what do you keep in all those little drawers?
ReplyDeleteHappy Very late WOyWW!
