CARD CHICKS - July

 Good morning, everyone!

Today, I'm probably running around like a chicken with its head chopped off... that's why I scheduled this yesterday.

We have a 4-day visit coming up with Bob's family... primarily his Mom. They live in south Texas. Mom said this may be their last trip north as the ride has been really hard on her so we're making the most of the weekend.

On a brighter note, it's time for the monthly Card Chicks. SU demonstrator, Vikki Jo was our hostess this month. She sent along a lovely kit with two stamped images.

The image is from Anita's Back Street Inc. stamped with Tuxedo Memento Black ink on Whisper White cardstock. The background paper is from the Flower & Field designer series paper from Stampin' Up! Vikki Jo sent lots of embellishments, including brads from Close to My Heart.  I used all the yellow ones as flower centers. I colored the image with SU Stampin' Blends, matted on SU Misty Moonlight and the whole thing on a Pool Party card base.

I think this turned out pretty considering I'd told Suzy on Tuesday I couldn't find the kit and that my card woul dbe late! LOL The card was uploaded to our SCS group on time yesterday.

WOYWW #633 + Garden Pictures

 Good morning, everyone!

Beautiful 63* in the Ozarks this morning. I somehow don't think the low temp will last. I'll go out and pick the last of the blackberries this morning before I start on the next project... which you'll see on my very sparse desk this morning:

I only have three packages of patterned paper left to catalog then I can start clearing off the shelf spot for them. The card project in the foreground is for my Card Chicks group. I have the image colored in, just need to figure out a card layout and get it put together & uploaded to the group this morning.

Last week, several of you commented on the number of tomato plants I have. First off, I have to preface by saying I never expected ALL of my seed trays to germinate. That NEVER happens. But I do can a lot of what I grow. I've been canning since I was 12.

Here's the tomato row I mentioned last week. There are 32 tomato plants:

The 8' zucchini row:

The 105 Roma plants that still need a home. I'm not going to plant them all... only the ones that are already setting fruit. Then I'm going to try some of them for an extended growth in the greenhouse as long as weather permits:

If all sets well, I'll be canning lots of tomato sauce this fall.

And finally, one of 20 green pepper plants with a tiny green pepper:

Bob and I will kick in early Tuesday morning getting the beds finished and things planted. While it may seem late, keep in mind these plants are already setting fruit... they just need a bit more room to flourish.

I'm not sure how much I"ll get around this week. We have a visit with Bob's mom and her husband this weekend. Mom said this may be the last trip they make up from Texas. The ride has been hard on them, so we are making the most of the weekend.

That's it for my desk (and story) this week. Who's Miss Julia and why am I here?  When you are done visiting me in the Ozarks, please hop on over to Stamping Ground  for all the details. Miss Julia has a long list of other studios you can peek into. No standing on an up-turned milk pail to look in the window. We open the doors wide and welcome you.  Please leave your number and you'll be among the first on my list.

WOYWW #632

 Good morning, crafty friends.

I can't believe it's Wednesday already. Where has the week gone? As you can see, we are at week #632. That's 632 consecutive weeks that we've been snooping in spaces of other craft friends.

I have 3 pictures for you today.

First... a reminder of what my Filming areal looked like before:

I've totally emptied out the filming table and the shelf to the right which is below a large sliding window.

Initially, in the design, that shelf was to be my working area so I could look out the window. The book case area (which you'll see better in future posts) was my cutting station where I had my vagabond, cricut, sizzix platform... all set up and ready at a thought's notice. Sadly, the number of stamps I have had me rethinking that design.

Next:

The filming table completely empty, and you can see the photo boxes with my stamps on the bookshelf behind. The shelf below the window to the right isn't completely cleared but will be by later this afternoon (crossing fingers)

I used the filming table yesterday to break down eight Project Life kits and file them in their cabinet (I'll show that in a video/ photos soon). I've since taken the table down so I can vacuum that area really well. Then the table will go back into place and I'll start breaking down all of my PaperCrafting & Cardmaking magazines.  They are all stored in those six magazine holders on the second shelf. You can see them on the far right shelf in this picture:

I plan to use that shelf for all of the Stamperia and specialty papers I've been ordering from Madi & SpectrumArtCreations.

The shelf to the right of that is going to hold CURRENT SU papers and hopefully CURRENT stamp sets. (Two of those shelves are removeable so I can make them deepr to be the same size as the magazine shelf.) We'll see how many of the latter I have.  Probably more than I think or will fit on that shelf. lol.

Bob comes home tomorrow and I've already warned him I'm no where near done. I worked 2 hours in the early morning of Monday planting 32 of the tomato plants. I was out of commission the rest of the day on Monday and most of  Tuesday. Ugh. Gorgeous out there this morning and there's more I could do but I know if I go out there then nothing will get done in here. I'm hoping BOb will be up to doing some of the heavy lifting for me when he gets home.

That's it for my desk (and story) this week. Who's Miss Julia and why am I here?  When you are done visiting me in the Ozarks, please hop on over to Stamping Ground  for all the details. CHRISTMAS IN JULY - 10 on the 10th

Good morning, crafters.

Yep, I'm coming in on a Saturday. I want to go back to Stampin' Up! Saturdays.  I'm combining today's with the 10 on the 10th collab on YouTube. I'm not actually a part of the collab but I've been playing along to get my stash of Christmas cards ready to go. I do not want to be like last year and not have cards to send.

I tried to choose products that are still available in the catalog, even though the Heart Warming Hugs DSP was in the 2020 Holiday catalog. I have a reason so hang with me... lol

Here's the card I have for you today:

I was inspired by THIS CARD from Wanda Pettijohn at starlightstamper.

I used the Heartwarming Hugs DSP. If you loved that paper as much as I did last year, you're going to be excited to know we are getting it back in the Holiday Catalog!!!!

I used the SNOWMAN SEASON:

Here are the dimensions:

BASE - Real Red 4-1/4 x 5-1/2
MAT 1 - Whisper White 4 x 5-1/4
DSP MAT - 3-3/4 x 5

Band -
MAT 1 - REAL RED - 4 X 1-3/4
MAT 2 - 4 x 1-1/2

CIRCLE DIES
1-7/8  and 2-1/8

I also used:

You could also use the following:
           Pearl Basic Jewels
Opal Rounds (these would really look like snowballs!)
I used the black jewels that are no longer available. I suggest:
Matte Black Dots (I think these would be perfect 'coal')

About the only adhesive I use is the

You will also need:
Large Stampin' Dimensionals (mini is all I had on hand)

I used Dk Real Red, Dk Pumpkin Pie, Stampin' Blends. I used the Lt Real Red for the poof on the top of the hat

It's going to take me a bit to get back on track here so please be patient. I'm working on the SU, filming corner this weekend so I can get things organized.

If you've not watched my UGLY TRUTH video, take a peek. I have 3 boxes of SU stuff to unpack/ put away and a pre-order from the Holiday/ Sale A Brations that will be here next week.

Lots of great stuff to share!

WOYWW #631

 Hello, creative friends!

I'm late to the party today. I've been blogging since 5 this morning. I'm tired and still have about 4 hours to go.

Here's my desk as I left it on Monday after crafting a card for a Color Challenge for my Upline. You can see the card post HERE.

I used the new Stampin' Up! Bundle - What's cookin to create the card.

I've not accomplished anything else in the office this week. Instead, I've worked in the garden for a couple of hours in the early morning then been out of commission, mostly sleeping, the rest of the day.

I didn't go out this morning. Instead, I've been blogging since 5 a.m. - on 4 hours sleep.

COLOR CHALLENGE - Brandy's Cards

  Good morning, crafty friends

Today's color challenge is the monthly color challenge from my upline - Brandy's Cards. I decided if I was going to play with a color challenge, let's see if Brandy was still doing hers every month. She is. In fact, she has them posted through the end of the current catalog NEXT YEAR!

Here's this months' color combination:

Here's my card:

I combined her color options with one of the new bundles featured in the current catalog:

With all the cooking and baking I do, I just had to have WHAT'S COOKIN'. If you click on the catalog number below the picture, you'll be taken to the item in our catalog.  Bundles are a great way to shop.  When you use the catalog number associated with the Bundle, you save 10% on the purchase price.

I no longer have an on-line store but you can still find me easy enough. Once you're on the home page for Stampin' Up! you'll see Find A Demonstrator in the top left of your screen. Click on that and input Kelly Henkins - Birch Tree MO and I'll pop right up. Remember, I can only except orders from USA but if you have any questions, I'm here to help.

There has been a surge of interest in my Stampin' Up! business so I'll be featuring products and specials here on this blog. I'm not going to a separate blog. That was just too much and it's all CREATIVE - right?

Keep an eye out for specials I'll be featuring and for new buttons on my sidebar.

In the mean time,
Creative Blessings!

JULY JUNK JOURNAL CHALLENGE - Let's Finish Some Journals -in - Progress!!!

 Good morning, creative friends.

I am so ready for the July Junk Journal Challenge with Dearjuliejulie. Julie has several of her own unfinished journals so (after MONTHS of us asking) she has decided July will be the month we try to finish journals we've been working on.

For me, I'm starting with last month and work my way backward. My PLAN is to get one a week at least 'finished within challenge guidelines'.

So this week, I'm starting with last month's challenge. With the exception of 1 paper pad and dearjuliejulie digitals, everything else was to be JUST JUNK. The only other caveat to the challenge was if we did the mini challenge each week, some of those items would be allowed into our kit. I'm sharing videos to the first two mini challenges I did, showcasing what I could add to my supplies. I still need to do mini challenge #3 & #4. I plan to do those tomorrow then have the rest of the week to put the actual journal together.

Here are a couple of pictures of what I'm working with:

Box of packaging

Table top of all the other miscellaneous supplies

Here's the videos from mini challenges #1 & #2

MINI #1

MINI #2

As you can see, I plan to be creating this week. Getting this journal worked up and leftover supplies pitched is step one in the Organization Process. Remember... new video coming Saturday.
