TEAPOT TUESDAY - You're the Sweetest!

Can you imagine a 12 year old (or any age) saving their money and using the funds to pay of overdue lunch accounts? Well, that's what Arman did at his Orlando FL elementary school. We teapotters couldn't be more proud of this young man. He will do great things!

I pulled out a set I'd not used yet (are you seeing a pattern here?). Tasty Trucks seemed like the perfect set to deliver sweet wishes to this young man.

I used dsp from Sweet Shop (SU Occasions 2012), a strip of Pool Party for the base. The truck is colored in using Stampin' Blends. The cupcakes are topped with the smallest red enamel dots from the Santa's Workshop Enamels (SU holiday 2018) for cherries. Three Glitter Enamel Dots add a bit of pop.

Inside, I've stamped 'your the sweetest' and added 4 more cupcakes (sans cherries)

By the time you read this, Arman should already being enjoying a flood of cards.

MIXED MEDIA MONDAY - The #FFJJC continues

Today, I'm showing off the tags from the last mini- challenge as well as how the cover came together. I hope to do a walk-through later this week via video. However, Bob came home last night. He's only home for two weeks so I may just focus on the 'have to do' posts until then. I do know a new challenge will go up later this week.

I wanted to use this Tim Holtz fabric and loved this postal print.

This fabric from my stash, while cotton, has the look of a Victorian carpet bag fabric. 

Next, I did get the signatures done (3), sewn into a hidden spine then the final cover on.

You can't see the pearl accents from The Paper Studio in the upper right corner very well in the photo. That should show up better in the video.

These were pieces I clipped away from the floral I used on the front cover. I took a piece of fabric and backed with fusible web. While I could have glued the floral fabric to the front, I wanted the fusible web more for stability so that I could fussy cut the image.  These pieces are ones I chose to snip away. I can use them as accents on pages/ pockets within the journal.

With Bob home, I'm not sure I'm going to get to work on this much the rest of the week before the next challenge goes up. I'm hopeful. I am looking forward to what Julie has in store for March.

For anyone who says crafting is a sedentary life, I have news. I racked up over 12,000 steps on two different days last week as well as 13,000 yesterday. Craft and Move!

CARD CHICKS - February

I guess I should have taken a picture of the envelope contents before the pictures. Will try to remember to do that from now on.

I am amazed at myself for being on time with these. We are to post our cards from the 21st-24th of the month. I've been on time once in two years! So bad of me.

This month's kit came from Barb. She sent a fabulous collection:
     2 images
     2 sentiments
     2 papers
     1 ribbon
     1 twine

The images are from Unity Stamps.

Here are the three cards I made:

I saw the diagonal patterned paper from Echo Park (A Perfect Winter) and instantly thought pocket card. I used the Tim Holtz tag die to cut out around the image, leaving enough room at the top for a snowflake from Jolees. I used Stampin' Blends to color the image. I think I used Pool Party for this one. light for the background of the cup and dark for the rim and base. The snow is covered in SU - Embossing Glitter. The sentiment is mounted on Basic Black.

For this one, I started by tearing the patterned paper in half, then used Cherry Cobbler to make the red in the pattern pop. I left the background of the cup white but used light gray over the snowflakes. Cherry Cobbler for the heart and Dk Basic Black for the coal. More Embossing Glitter for the snow bank. I cut the sentiment apart, dusted the edges with Cherry Cobbler then ran down the side.

for this last card I retore the edge of the patterned paper to give me the white edge. Mounted on Night of Navy.  I tied a bit of the bakers twine (SU-  Bermuda Bay) around the length of ribbon then glued that along the side.  The snowflake trim at the base of the image is part of the diagonal paper. For the image, I went through my printed/ stamped digis I've had in a photo album. I got these from Splitcoast friends when I was a part of the group in the beginning. The image is from an old SU set called Playing in Snow.

I had fun putting these cards together. One is already headed to the mail tomorrow as I owe a gal a card from our SMMR card exchange. Somehow I missed sending the card when I mailed Christmas cards. I think this one catches me up. Time to start thinking about the card I'll need for March. 

If you've never joined a card kit/ swap group before I encourage you to do so. While they can be a bit time consuming, they also force us to do a little Crafty Self Care... something I've promised myself I will do more of in 2019. After all, All work and no play......

WOYWW # 507

Hey all...

Before I show you my desk today, I need a favor. A stamper friend of mine is needing followers. She is in a competition to win an Amazon gift card. She plans to use the gift card to 'pay it forward' by purchasing much needed supplies for a local Boy Scout troop. Now, on to the desk. I'm taking this picture on Tuesday night because I wanted to get that information for Kelly while I had it handy.

The desk has been a flurry of activity the past couple of days. I've gotten several cards made. I'll be here most all week as I keep blogs up to date.

As I type this we are going through another wintery mix. They say upper 50s by Friday and even 60 (with rain) on Saturday. Can spring be far behind? I hope so. I'm so tired of being cold LOL

TEAPOT TUESDAY - Celebrating Generosity

Last week's Teapot Tuesday was to celebrate the generosity of a couple in Texas. Curtis is a school bus driver. He and his wife did not have anyone they needed to buy gifts for. So Curtis asked each of the students on his buss route what they wanted for Christmas, then he and his wife went shopping. They granted one gift wish of each child - including a bike!

What a wonderful world this would be if more people were like Curtis and his wife.

I had to go with a school bus yellow (SU - Pineapple Punch) and other primary colors. I chose Real Red and Blueberry Bushel in addition to the Pineapple Punch.

I knew I wanted to use It's A Celebration (retired SU set). When I opened the box, to my surprise, the stamps hadn't even been mounted! I guess I get credit for a set never used before LOL. Rather than mount on the wooden blocks, I transferred the unmounted set to a slimmer case and went to work.

I look forward to using this set more as we approach July. A great set for July Birthday cards.

MIXED MEDIA MONDAY - #FFJJC - More components

Good morning, everyone!

I really hope to do a video tomorrow or Wednesday. I'm still pulling items. Pulling, dying stuff over the weekend. Not sure if the tea dying is allowed. I know we could use coffee/tea-dyed but I didn't have any. I'd never dyed papers before and it's something that I wanted to try and would fit perfectly in this Victorian tea-themed journal.  I spent most of Saturday dying items. Today, some of them will take a bit of a press.

This is photo-heavy as I walk you through the items we were allowed for EACH signature and the charms I made for the second mini challenge. Let's start with those.

The cool thing about the mini- challenges is that we are not bound by parameters. We can use anything we want as long as they include fabric. This is a FABRIC junk journal challenge, after all.

I loved putting these together:

Because we could use anything, I could use whatever tools I wanted. This gave me the opportunity to use the new Tea Time Framelits dies (free with a $100 purchase from our catalogs/ clearance) from the Stampin' UP! Sale A Bration catalog as well as the coordinating Tea Together stamps from the Occasions Catalog.  If you need a refresher in the bead shopping, you'll find that HERE

Okay.. the pictures of items for my signatures. I've decided based on the multiple things we are to include, that three signatures will be plenty.

Five printed cardstock. This one confused me a bit. Julie pulled from a paper pad, calling it printed cardstock. So, while all of the items look like traditional scrapbook paper, they all came from a variety of three different paper pads:

Five assorted card/ index/ greeting:

Tea-dyed large index cards. The MemoryDex belong in the 5 for the whole journal category. The 5 'cards' in the front were cut from the back of the calendar I pulled the pages from. I also found some vintage greeting cards last night I can pull into this one.

Bags and envelopes

For the remainder of the Five for the WHOLE Journal, I've not pulled those yet.  I should have them to show next Monday as well as how the signatures come together. 

One more picture. Our final mini-challenge is to make five tags. All must include fabric. I cut the tags in two different sizes from the Tim Holtz tag dies. One of the frames (haven't decided on the size) will be turned into a shaker card. 

So my projects for this week is to do the tags and put my signatures together. I still haven't put my cover together. I think while I have the iron out today, I'll get fusible adhesive on the floral sections I want to use as cut-outs so I can get the cover finished and the signatures in place. 

I will have Teapot Tuesday cards up tomorrow. I need to catch up to the one from last week. A very special story to share, as well as the one for this week. 

WOYWW - #506

First off, I apologize for not getting around last week. I was waiting a day for the numbers to settle into place so I wouldn't  be claiming to be someone else (sorry Caro hehe) then I found the project you'll read about in a moment and that became my focus for the week. I have blog visits on my list for Friday when the weather turns crummy and I can't get anywhere else. The weather is ALWAYS pleasant in WOYWW. 

The remnants of my station after creating 6 cards yesterday then depositing the mail on top of the lot following a trip to the mailbox. That wind was bitter. I just wanted to dump the mail and find a hot cup of coffee.  This will all be cleaned up this morning as well as (finally) the big work table.

Aside from having a month to finish the rough draft of Book 2, I'm playing in a challenge all this month.  The February Fabric Junk Journal Challenge - ##FFJJC

We are to be in the 60s today and tomorrow then a new wintery mix moves in for the next several days. So today is all about detailing floors, prepping for the fabric challenge and finishing some details I need for the book.
