WOYWW #373

Another fabulous week of visiting creative friends and neighbors, both near and far. At least the weather is to be a tad cooler this week for our travels.

This is what both of my work surfaces looked like as of Monday night. We left early Tuesday morning and I knew I'd not get a post ready to go before we returned. Now all I'll have to do is link up with Miss Julia.

You can see the back of the scraprack to the left. I'm FINALLY DONE! I've waited 10 years to have a scraprack. If you want to see the front, check out Monday's post.

And this is the other work table... A disaster at best but now that the Scraprack project is out of the way, the rest of the room can come together.

What you're seeing is my blog planner binder in the foreground. To the left you'll see some punches. Those are the current SU punches I own. I ran out of room in the basket at the end of the table so decided to separate current from everything else and keep them close at hand on the table.

That's my desk? What's on yours? When you are done visiting me in the Ozarks, please hop on over to Stamping Ground where Miss Julia has a long list of other studios you can peek into. No standing on an up-turned milk pail to look in the window. We open the doors wide and welcome you. We won’t touch.. just look. J  I can't wait to peek but we have a busy weekend ahead so I may be late again getting 'round. Please leave your number and you'll be first on my list.

MAGNIFICENT MONDAY!

This is a step away from my Mixed Media Monday because I have something MAGNIFICENT to show you:

After months of sorting, embellishments...

And paper, by theme, calendar year and color....

Getting everything into the perfect page. Making sure not to over-fill the spinder...

Setting up the 3 bases, and adding extra industrial strength velcro over the seams..

And TEN YEARS of knowing I wanted a ScrapRack....

I am finally at THIS point....

This is 3 bases.

Here are a couple shots of the back:

A close up shot showing the spacing/ staggering of the spinders....

After trial and error, we found spacing to be critical. I counted up the number of spinders I had then started in the middle... working my way out to either end so that they'd be balance. I have to tell you - STILL didn't work. I still have room on the right for at least one, maybe 2 more spinders. Hmmm. I'm thinking Project Life. That will free up 2 book shelves :-D

This is the 2nd biggest project in the studio. The first was cataloging all of my stamps. I'll show that post next Monday.

I have things to do this week. I'll be here for WOYWW on Wednesday then not again until Monday.

Creative Blessings!
Kelly

WOYWW #372

First on my list are two things:

Thank you Jan for keeping us in line in Julia's absence. I'm sure the task may have been only slightly easier than herding cats. We love ya!

And second is a huge WELCOME BACK to our Queen of Queens, Miss Julia Dunnit. Julia is back at the helm this week.

Okay.. so my desk:

I remembered I'd not cataloged the stamp sets that come with my Quick Cards magazines so pulled them out to catalog. So I'm shuffling them into the mix. This should take less than an hour this morning. Then this all gets put away and I have a dust ruffle to make for the lower shelf of our entertainment center. With two cats and now a dog, the shedding hair accumulates horribly around the books on that shelf.

Last week I posted a picture of my $1 stamp storage and mentioned the pink labels. This is what one of them looks like. Each pink package is a Studio G alphabet stamp. I am missing C and K. If anyone has one they'd like to sell, please let me know. I've tried contacting the company who cover Studio and can't get a response from their customer service. Really disappointing.  They are a major brand stamp company.

We are under a heat warning. I think the system moved in yesterday. I sat down in the recliner for an hour and woke up five hours later! Needless to say, not a lot got accomplished. So with hubby due home tonight, I'm doing the flight of the bumble bee trying to finish some things up.

WOYWW #371

Good  morning!
Since I was just getting 'round to some of you last night, today seemed to come extra quick. Every week when I see the number, I am amazed at how long we've been visiting one another's spaces. A lot of the tardiness was due to storms, meaning I had the internet turned off. We're forecast for a repeat this weekend. ::: sigh :::

Remember that nice clean work top from last week? Yeah, well... I'm making good use of the table while I can. My actual work surface is buried under those spinders full of ScrapRack pages waiting for the base to be put together this weekend.

Here, I'm working on June Paper Pumpkin cards for the Stampin Up blog.. yes, I know the July Kit should be arriving any day. Just been one of those weeks. LOL The photo box in the upper left holds all of my current SU stamps. I've stored all of my stamps this way.

Before I started crafting, I used the surface to work on the last of the stamp organization/ cataloging. These two boxes were made from a recycled large flat rate postal box, covered in white contact paper. I've stuck with the Themes/ Calendar year category so that all of my items coordinate. In case you're curious, there are 117 stamps in these two boxes.

That said... I have the Studio G Alphabet sets (those pink labels). I am missing C and K so if you have those and would like to sell, please let me know.

These two boxes are larger misc. stamps/ sets that are waiting for cases. Those should arrive with my SU order today.

Wondering what I'm chattering on about? Each week we are blessed with opportunity to visit other creative spaces around the world, courtesy of Miss Julia. While our sweet travel director, Julia (returning next week),  is on a medical hiatus, her friend Jan (LunchLadyJan) is helping us along.  So, When you are done visiting me in the Ozarks, please hop on over to Lunch Lady Jan where she has a long list of other studios you can peek into. No standing on an up-turned milk pail to look in the window. We open the doors wide and welcome you. J  I can't wait to peek.

WOYWWW #370

Not very exciting, eh?  This is my former cutting station all ready for, well, cutting. LOL

If you missed why I say 'former cutting station', check yesterday's post HERE.

Since I chose to pull all the pages with fibers from the scrap rack spinders to reduce bulk, I need to card those so they will fit in the drawer.  So while I wait for that little velcro piece to arrive, I decided to take advantage of the clear space to get the fiber bobbins cut. When I have all the fibers carded, this is what they'll look like:

SCRAPRACK - Almost complete

I spent a busy weekend working on the Scrap Rack project. That seems to be a never-ending task.. though I am finally beginning to see the end. I THINK I have sorted everything into ABC/ Themes/ Rainbow/ Calendar year that I own. Though, if the 'clown car' effect is still going strong, I will not be surprised if something else shows up as I move on to other organization areas of the studio.

For now... Here are 2 of the categories, completely sorted:

This is the rainbow section. Though I've since gone back and removed all of the pages with Fibers. Those will get carded and added to the fiber drawers. Having them stored in the SR for me does 2 things: 1) adds more bulk which means I'd need more spinders and more bases. I do not have room for more than 3 bases. 2) carding the fibers and putting them in the drawer will keep ALL of the fibers together (keep together what you'll use together) with the exception of the holiday themed fibers. Those will stay in the Calendar section of the SR.  I have 6 spinders for the Rainbow section

This is all of the Themes section... well, as much as you can see down the length of my table. There are 8 Spinders full for themes... that's an entire base with a squeak of an extra.

So the problem became that the space the SR was to go is only long enough for 2 bases. And that was with an extension piece Bob created to go over the 2 (2-drawer) filing cabinets that were to be the location for the SR. I can not get away with less than 3 bases.

yeah, I'm a Got A Lot A Girl LOL  Though I did not realize how much until I began sorting.

I've shown you these pictures before but they will help you to see where I'm going.

This is suppose to be the 'cutting station' in the new studio. In the picture below, if you look on the left side, you'll see the end of the cutting station. 2 (2-drawer) filing cabinets are placed side by side (opening out into the room) to hold the SR

This is where I am now:

I cleared everything off the Cutting Station. I put the SR into place and realized that I have 2 complete bases and an expansion base. I can still use the base from the 2nd unit but I need the piece of velcro used to connect the basis (and providing room for that 8th spinder).  I ordered the piece yesterday and I suspect Karen will have it to me by Friday. So hopefully, next weekend I can put the SR in place and FINALLY be done with the SR organization.

Next project will be the $1 stamps.
